The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 124

Chapter 124

There was complete silence throughout. Ivy couldn’t care less whether Wyatt’s compliment was genuine. Did she require him to inform her of her beauty? Wyatt’s words, however, did cause Ivy’s heart to tremble slightly for a split second. Her position remained precarious. She was stunned for a brief moment and came dangerously close to being sucked into Wyatt’s sweet talk. Fortunately, she acted promptly. ‘This son of a bitch is incapable of seducing me! I am not going to fall for it!’ Numerous celebrity biggies couldn’t help but give Ivy a secret thumbs up when they heard her response. This was a classic President Ivy snide remark. A standard “thank you” would have sufficed, but Ivy’s response was superior. The music began shortly thereafter, and the awards ceremony began. Ivy was arranged to present Flint with an award. Thus, as soon as the “Most Promising Newbie” nominations were announced, Ivy prepared to take the stage. Typically, there were two “Most Promising Newbie” awards, one of which went to Flint, who deserved it. Flint was completely unaware of everything until that point. The host was on stage, introducing the nominees passionately. The drumroll began, and dozens of spotlights focused on the nominees’ expressions as they attempted to capture their micro-expressions. The suspense was at an all-time high. “The “Most Promising Newbie” awards go to... Flint and Mirasol!” The hall immediately erupted in applause. Flint leaped to his feet. A camera swept over him. At the time, the two seats adjacent to him were vacant. Ivy straightened her gown beneath the stage and was about to ascend to present the award when someone behind her grabbed her hand firmly and dragged her up.

She cast a sidelong glance and slightly stiffened. ‘Wyatt Reed?! Why is this guy following me around?! The other honored guest was supposed to be the television station director; how could this have happened at the last minute?’ Ivy cast a glance back and noticed the TV station’s director smiling respectfully to the side. He extended his arm in response to Ivy’s request to “please proceed.” Wyatt’s intention was clearly to replace the director with himself. How impudent! Ivy wished she could withdraw her hand and avoid being so close to him. His faint cologne scent only added to her discomfort. Wyatt pressed his hand against hers, preventing her from retracting it. “Don’t make a fuss.” His low magnetic tone was audible. He made it appear as though he was extremely forgiving of Ivy, the unreasonable one. ‘What in the world?!’ Ivy was taken aback for a brief moment. She clenched her teeth and realized she couldn’t refuse now that they had already walked to the stage. Numerous pairs of eyes and cameras were trained on them while they were in the spotlight. Ivy was simply unsettled and restless. Wyatt Reed and Ivy Morgan were far more appealing in the same frame than the two most promising newbies. They appeared to be carrying their distinct auras, and when they stood there at this point, it seemed as though they were the stage’s primary focus. Mirasol and the host, both of whom wore exquisite gowns, were mainly overshadowed. “It’s an honor to have Mr. Reed and Ms. Morgan here to present the ‘Most Promising Newbie awards,’” the host on stage responded quickly. “Do you have anything to say to the two actors?” Ivy finally had a chance to release her grip on Wyatt’s arm, and she took two steps forward to do so. She smiled with such radiance that she appeared as dazzling and spectacular as ever. Ivy took up the microphone and lavishly praised Flint. “Flint’s diligence and ability are self-evident. I truly admire his performance as a newbie. I believe heContent © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

is truly deserving of this honor.” Wyatt’s gaze had been fixed on Ivy throughout. When Wyatt’s turn to speak came, the audience fell silent. Mirasol blushed nervously and looked at Wyatt with expectant, glimmering eyes from the side. Wyatt snatched the microphone from the table. He had forgotten the actress’s name, so he simply smiled faintly and said, “Whatever Ms. Morgan said is exactly what I want to say.” ‘Shameless bastard!’ Ivy thought. Wyatt’s speech was mediocre, but everyone applauded him warmly out of politeness. Ivy rolled her eyes in her heart, but her face remained gracious and polite. Wyatt took the trophy and certificate from the attendant on the side and presented them to Mirasol when it was time to present the award. Mirasol was tense as the person presenting her with the award was Wyatt Reed. How was she unable to be moved? Wyatt Reed was a business magnate who could stomp his way through the business world. Mirasol reasoned that if she could gain Wyatt’s favor, she would be free of having to attend any additional social events or private dinners for the sake of her career. Mirasol carefully accepted the certificate and trophy Wyatt presented her with and summoned all her courage. Her face was delicate and shy, her eyes brimming with hesitation and anticipation. “Thank you, Mr. Reed. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. I hope we can collaborate on something.” Wyatt simply brushed a careless glance at the woman and remained silent. For the group photo, Wyatt was supposed to stand on the left side of Mirasol, separated from Ivy. On the other hand, Wyatt stood shamelessly to the right of Mirasol, squeezing her out of the frame while he and Ivy stood in the center of the two award winners. This stance caused some consternation. On stage, the winners were speechless. Ivy stood there, attempting to keep a decent smile on her face. She honestly did not wish to make a scene in front of so many reporters.

‘Oh no,’ she thought in her heart. It’s over. Flint will no longer benefit from my popularity!’ Ivy could no longer remain silent after the awards ceremony ended. She did not even attend the reception and rushed out. Fortunately, she was not stopped. Wyatt was encircled by people who were conversing and exchanging pleasantries. He stood there and watched as Ivy got into her car and drove away. ‘Mr. Reed...’ From behind came a sweet and gentle voice. Mirasol, to be precise. At this point, the most promising new actress stood there wearing a light dress. Because her chest and back were exposed, she shivered and looked quite pitiful when the cold wind blew. Wyatt’s dark gaze cast an indifferent glance at her upon hearing this. He appeared to be recalling this woman’s identity. Wyatt’s immediate surroundings were aware of the woman’s intentions. Everyone was single, and Wyatt’s status made him the object of many women’s desire. Wyatt’s relationship with Mirasol was unknown because this was the first time he presented an award to a female celebrity. As a result, everyone smiled meaningfully and excused themselves. Soon, only Wyatt and Mirasol were left. Mirasol took a step forward; her face was soft and pitiful. She licked her lower lip and appeared to have something to say. “Mr. Reed, my manager, left in a hurry and took my clothes by accident. Could you kindly give me a lift?” Mirasol spoke as she stroked her bare arms and shoulders, which shivered pitifully in the cold. Wyatt’s eyes remained apathetic and gloomy. He pulled out his phone and dialed Ken’s number. “Bring over the car.” Before Mirasol could smile with happiness, Wyatt said in a magnetic and cold voice, “No, it’s not. It’s not in my way.” He then walked away without looking back. Mirasol’s face became stiff. Her lips were pale as she watched Wyatt enter the car and drive away on his own.

Inside the car. Wyatt’s face remained expressionless. “Where are the photos?” Ken tapped his phone a few times and sent Wyatt a picture. The group stage photograph featured the two most promising new actors and the two presenters. After the photo was cropped, only two people were left in the center—Wyatt, and Ivy. Wyatt’s lips were slightly relaxed at the corners. He was overjoyed with this photograph. His eyes, on the other hand, sank suddenly. His heart clenched, and his breathing became more strained as well. Wyatt and Ivy did not have a single photograph together during their three years of marriage. Wyatt had only recently realized how many significant events in his life he had overlooked.
