Chapter 30: Help

Franco

Five hours passed and my plan failed. I thought I saw something from the opposite building adjacent to

Saphira’s hotel room. I thought I saw a telescope that may have been used by Romano to monitor our

movements.

Together with the Police, we went to check my hunch. We saw the telescope and it was owned by a

little boy who checked in the room with his parents a night before.

The weird thing about the room was it was all frilly and pink. Something that is unusual to be rented by

a family.

When we went to the room with the Police, the boy and his parents were out. But we saw their luggage

and the police found nothing wrong. Rob and I tried to go inside the bedroom but the police said there

was no need for us to investigate further.

A good news was waiting for us at the hotel when we got back. Saphira’s Billionaire father sent a secret

agent.

“Rob, Franco, this is Agent Trey. He is one of the best operative agents of the government and he will

help us recover Saphira from his captor.”

“From here on, I will be in charge of this case. I have been briefed already and here are my initial

was removed from the place just 45 minutes from your arrival. I hacked inside the hotel’s system and

cctv footages to validate this claim. Romano did not check out of the hotel since he used a family as

decoy. The family who helped him to rent the room is now in our office for questioning.”

“But, where is Saphira now?”

“I am getting there. Please don’t interrupt.”

This man is serious business. I just hope he will be the key to save Saphira.

“Please continue.”

“Saphira is being transferred to a secured location as of this moment. Romano stealthily used a cab for

their escape, which is difficult to track in this city due to their uniformity. I am hooked in the traffic

satellite system to trace any unusual movements that may help us find them. For now, I suggest you

take a rest and I will advise you for any updates. This is all for now. If I have been here hours before we

could have caught them but I was only briefed an hour ago by my superiors and took to work

immediately.”

“How can you be so sure that they are still travelling and is still not in a secure location?”

“Because, knowing Romano, he will not take risks knowing that he was almost caught. He will ensure

that no loose trails will be made from his escape. Don’t worry I know how he thinks and will soon find

out where he is taking her.”

“You know Romano?”

It was Rob who asked the same question nagging my mind.

“Yes. But it is none of your business. Now let me get my work done.”

Who could this agent be, and what is his connection with Saphira’s kidnapper?

Agent Trey

When my supervisor briefed me on this high profile case, a Billionaire’s daughter missing. Also the

daughter of a well-known Senator, I almost declined as I do not want to be associated with rich people,

but when he mentioned that it was Romano who took the girl, I knew I just have to take on this case.

My superior knew that I am still looking for Romano until now. He left the service after our last secret

mission to Afghanistan where we lost half of our team. From the 7 members of Alpha team, only the

two of us survived. We were both devastated by our loss but he was more affected since he was closer

to them. He suffered from depression because of that and his greatest heartache. It was also the day of

our return when he found his girlfriend cheating on him with his brother in his own house and bed.

It was a good thing I was with him that day and was supposed to stay at their house. If not, I may have

been visiting him now in prison for parricide. I had to watch and let him beat his own brother. I knew it

was wrong for me to let that happen but Romano suffered enough heartache to last a lifetime. What is

wrong with a few punches and kicks to the man who betrayed his trust and confidence?

I stopped him when his brother was still conscious but all beaten up.

The girl? I don’t know what happened to her but with the things that I said to her, I am sure she will not

even look at Romano or his family ever again. I may have been pretty extreme but Romano will always

be my brother from another mother and I will do anything to protect him.

“Carina, I know you are not sorry for being a slut that you truly are. But I am warning you, don’t you

ever go near Romano or anyone of his family ever again. If not, I will make sure you and all your

relatives will have one or few of your fingernails and toe nails pulled out. You know what I am capable

of. And I am sure that you know Romano cannot hurt you. But believe me that I am not going to think

twice and make you suffer for all the pain you caused my brother.”

After that, Carina packed her bags and never showed her face again. That was seven years ago. I

stayed with Romano for a year and when I thought he was doing good and has recovered from his

emotional breakdown, I returned to the service. Even if he was still qualified to return with me, he chose

to be a civilian. He said that his heart cannot take another death and violence.

I lost track of him and I am not sure why he did not keep in touch. I looked for him when I returned to

America two years ago but my superiors said he doesn’t want anyone from his past to know where he

was. I was hurt but I knew he has his reasons.

Now, here I am, trying to clean up his mess and hopefully save his life.

I just hope I am not too late.
