Chapter 12
Breached
SADIE
We had to cut our honeymoon short when Cenric received an emergency call from Cas. I didn’t pry. I hoped Cas was okay, though—Cenric’s expression told me nothing seemed alright. We had to leave the island right away while the jet was waiting for us in the private airport.
“Hey, everything is gonna be okay.” I squeezed his hand even my words had no assurance. I knew they could figure it out together.
He squeezed my hand back. “CENTH just recently listed on Archer Markets, and then what a coincidence. There was a security breach last night.”
“How does it even possible? I thought trading platforms couldn’t be hacked. I don’t know how does it works, but I thought when it comes to banking, shouldn’t it be more secured than Fort Knox?”
He sadly chuckled, “Even NASA and NSA can be breached with its state-of-the-art security.”
“So you mean to say nothing is guaranteed? Nothing is safe anymore?”
“You could say that, but I’m about to figure out how far the breach is.”
“Well, that’s awful. I’m sure they’re working on it.”
“When something like this happened or just a rumor of breach, the investors will pull back, and the markets will crash, especially for CENTH that just launched two years ago, still volatile, unstable.”
“I wish I could help.”
“You are helping. For the past three days, I lived a normal life than in a long time.”
“So, the great powerful Wollf comes with a great responsibility.”
“When a lot of depending on you, yeah. Come here.” He tapped his lap.
“Do you think it’s a good idea?” I asked meaningfully.
“When these things are over, I’ll spend time with you watching rom-com on Netflix.”
I sat on his lap carefully and made sure I wouldn’t trigger something down there. “What made you think I go for rom-com?”
“Wild guess. Am I wrong?” He arched a brow.
“I like fantasy and sci-fi, husband.” I cast him a humorous look.
“Uh-huh. Noted.” He wrapped his arms around me and sniffed my hair. “You smell like berries and wildflowers.”
“If you start talking like that again, you’ll end up with blue balls.”
“More likely black balls now, babe.”

Cenric just changed his suits and left right away down to his office. I was left alone in his penthouse with his private elevator. The floor-to-ceiling windows boasted the skyline views that I could only see in a futuristic movie.
Being an investor and a founder of a fast-growing cryptocurrency, sophisticated home security and advanced sensor system came a handy.
“Mrs. Wollf, let me take this to your room.” Devin quickly picked up our luggage.
“You don’t have to do this.”
“No worries. I’ll take these up for you. Do you have the key card?”
Um, what now?”Cenric must have forgotten it.” My phone vibrated in my bag simultaneously. It must be Zhuri checking in. But it wasn’t. “Let me just answer this.”
“Please, go ahead.” Devin left with our luggage.
“Hi.”
“I’m so stupid. I was just too focused on the meeting that I forgot and just left.”
“It’s alright. I’m in your penthouse safe and sound.”
“I know, babe. But this meeting might take a while at HQ.” He sounded apologetic this time.
“It’s okay. Take your time.”
“Open the brown bag I left on the coffee table and take the blue envelope. You’ll find the key card, cards, and keys. They’re yours.”
“Why do I need those?”
“Babe, I won’t be around 24/7, and it’s just suitable that I provide you your access to the penthouse. Go ahead and take a rest. I apologize for the inconvenience.”
I smiled. “Now, you sound like a call center agent.”
He chuckled from the other line. “I’m not good at this.”
“Jeez, just kidding. You’re doing great.”
“I got to go. See you later?”
“I’ve nowhere to go. Bye.”
After I got the keys, I finally got access to the penthouse. I just didn’t know if he wanted me to stay in his room, or I got a room on my own, and there was definitely another room in this luxurious loft. We had not gone far talking about our living arrangement, and I didn’t want to impose. He might like to have his own privacy. I had no idea.
“If you need anything, just let me know. Just press two on the phone.”
“I’m good, Devin. Thank you.”
His sprawling bedroom had its own level of luxury, from smooth with high-quality bedding to plush carpeting, but it simply had the fragments of his personality—dark and minimalist.
I let myself wander around the entire penthouse. From the main door came a spacious entryway, opened a large living room with the custom-made furniture from a famous luxury designer specialized in home furnishing and leather goods. This loft had at least three bedrooms and four baths, his own office, a fully furnished kitchen, and an elegant dining area. It was like a whole new house on top of the Manhattan tallest building, luxurious and modern.
I decided to use the bathroom in the guest room. When I came down to find something to drink in the kitchen, I wasn’t alone anymore, and it wasn’t Devin or Cenric.
I just stood there while she was bustling in my husband’s kitchen. Finally, I found my footing, and I cleared my throat. “Hello?”
She turned around with wide eyes. “Hello, dear. M. Wollf just informed me on my way that you’re finally here. I’m Elena, by the way. Your husband’s housekeeper. I also occasionally cook for him but do all the groceries. So, I just guessed what to fill in the fridge.”
“I’m—”
“Mrs. Sadie Wollf. I know who you are, dear. Mr. Wollf told me to give you whatever you want.”
“How do you often come?”
“Don’t worry, dear. I come here every weekend.”
I waved my hand. “No, that’s not what I meant.”
“Then you can call me anytime. I have my number saved on the phone. Anyway, I made sandwiches for you. You can list down the groceries you want, and I will bring them to you in my next housekeeping. Do you need anything else, Mrs. Wollf?”Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’m good. Thanks for the sandwiches. They look delicious.”
“Go ahead, dear. I’m leaving. Goodnight, ma’am.”
I was hungry. I didn’t realize until I finished two slices of Elena’s sandwich, and damn, that woman could make a good sandwich.
I went to the guestroom, hoping to get a nap before Cenric arrived. In just a matter of minutes, I felt tired and sleepy.
I stirred in bed. I felt I was floating or carried by vast and muscular arms.
“For someone who has access to keys, you are terrible at finding our room. Or you intend not to share a bed with me, huh, wife?”
“Cenric?”
He shushed me. “Get some sleep.” I felt his lips press against my forehead.
“What time is it?”
“Sleep. We’ll talk in the morning.” He laid me carefully down to bed, and just like that, I curled myself into a ball.
My eyes were so heavy, even if I wanted to see him before I fell back to slumber.
“This is your bed, babe. Nowhere else.”
