The Badass Protector

Chapter 55

COLT

Sixteen hours later

“ARE YOU sure you wanna do this?” For the umpteenth time, Frost asked Iris behind the wheel. “Just so you know, I disagreed with your idea, but I respect everyone’s decision. And I’m here for you, not for your decision.”

“Yes. And I understand. This is the only way I can sleep soundly at night and probably the only way to get answers on why I am still alive,” Iris said as she stared blankly outside the window. “And thinking those innocents die because I did not do something-”

“I get it, Iris.”

None of us could change her mind, regardless of how hard we tried to convince her. I held her hand and squeezed it to ensure we were there to support her decision.

Gael fiddled with the ham radio. Thankfully, Darick found some scraps, wires, and batteries from the abandoned outpost we passed by earlier, and he managed to fix the dead one we had.

We failed to grasp radio frequencies on our way. We might still be far from camps and shelters with radios or towers to pick up signals-nothing came but the buzzes just like hours ago.

“Are you sure it works just right, Darick?” Frost glanced at him through the rearview mirror.

“If you know how to fix it, billionaire’s son, go ahead. Daddy dear might have taught you how to DIY a fucking radio.” Darick rolled his sharp eyes, then leaned his head against Lois’ shoulder, causing Frost to groan.

“I’m not questioning your expertise, Takaga,” Frost replied.

“Maybe you two should get married,” Lois grunted.

“This works just fine. We’ll see once we get closer. Unless someone wants to climb up the tree,” Gael joked.

“No, thank you.” I chuckled. “You okay, Doc?” I glanced at Dr. Hull, who seemed to start snoring beside me.

He answered me with a hum.

I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone for not leaving me behind while in a coma. All I could feel was like I was melting deep inside, and all my flesh and bones were hurting as fuck until I lost consciousness.

My heart warmed as I looked at Iris one more time. She gave me another reason to live. She was my hero. If it wasn’t for her courage and determination, I was already been buried six feet under, rotting.

That must be why she stumbled upon Lois and Frost because she was destined to save my life.

The little thing I called twig and the woman threatening my cock were the same reason I was still breathing. This time, I felt whole-I had a family and a woman I loved more than the second chance I got.

I pulled her into my arms and kissed the top of her head. I felt my emotions swirling again with love, gratitude, and hope.

“I love you.” I kept my promise to show her and tell her how much she meant to me before it was too late.

“Love you back.” She took my hand and kissed my knuckles.

“Frost, I need to pee,” I excused.

“Okay. Hang in there.” Frost slowed down the car, then moved to the right side of the road to park.

“Iris, go with Colt and check if he’s okay,” Gael ordered. Even if he didn’t tell her, I was sure to take Iris with me.

“Sure.”

I hopped out of the SUV.

The way the wild grass swayed against the wind was something that I wasn’t supposed to see anymore. I closed my eyes and listened to the wind feathering through the wild grass and the bird crying in the sky and breathed clean air into my lungs.

“Where do you want to pee?”

I opened my eyes and smiled at her. “There.” I pointed to the grass field. “Behind that tree.”

“Seriously? Can’t you just pee here?” She pointed at the shoulder of the road, almost covered with growing grass. “You don’t have to sit down like me to pee, you know.”

“I can’t if someone is watching me, twig.” I grinned. “I bet they want to know about my pee as well.”

“Just go, pee, and come back,” Gael interrupted us. “We need to find a place to stay before sunset.”

I marched first toward the tall grass that almost reached my knees. “Careful. There could be snakes underneath.”

Iris shrieked, jumped, and ran closer to me. “Not funny!”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Just warning you, twig. We may be invincible to the virus, but not to the venom. Come here.” Before she could reach me, I scooped her and threw her over my shoulder.

“Put me down, Colton!” She wiggled her legs, hit my back, and screamed, then laughed freely when I spanked her sweet ass. Her voice echoed in the wide-open space, which was like music to my ears.

If she only had any idea what my plan was, she was going to run back to the car in this instant.

“You’re gonna pay for this!” Iris was still laughing while slapping my ass.

“I’m willing to pay it back. Right now.” I also laughed with her.

Once we reached behind the tree, I let her stand on her feet to see a broad smile on her face, then she closed the gap between us and grabbed the back of her head. She slammed her mouth against mine and kissed me hungrily.

“Is this your plan the entire-God, I miss this?”

“Do you want me to stop?” My hands were already unbuttoning her shirt, pulling her bra up, and cupping the sweet tits I had missed for days.

My cock was already hardened and jerked inside my jeans. I leaned over to capture her tit with my mouth as I massaged the other.

“Oh, God! Colton, do we really have to do this?” Iris gripped my hair, throwing her head back as I unbuttoned her jeans and pushed her panties down her knees.

I pulled my shirt above my head and spread it to the ground. “Lie down, twig. Hurry up before Gael sends a search party.”
