Chapter 56

He closed his laptop and stood up. Carla stood by the door and waited for him to come over to her which he did. He walked in that sexy, masculine gait that never failed to take her breath away. On getting to her, he smiled down at her and reached out to brush a strand of hair away from her face.

" What a pleasant surprise Mrs Blake, what are you doing here? " He asked teasingly.

She placed her hands on her hips and gave him a hard stare " I came to say Hi to my husband of course " and she rolled her eyes.

He laughed and bumped her nose lightly, which made her scrunch up her nose " Of course you can! Who the hell says you can't do that? " He asked rhetorically and laughed.

" Come on " He added and placed his hand on the small of her back, leading her to the couch on one of the office. He sank down on to it first and pulled her down into his lap. Carla exhaled a soft sigh of contentment as Liam began to nuzzle her neck.

" I feel like it's been ages since I set my eyes on you last, I missed you " He whispered into her ear and bit her earlobe, a soft moan escaping through her lips.

" I missed you too " She replied, her just as soft.

He raised up his head to look at her " So what have you been up to lately? " He asked casually but something told her he was interested in whatever it was that concerned her.

" You look beautiful by the way, just like always " He added, commenting on her look and outfit.

She blushed and hid her face in his chest " Thank you " She murmured, her voice as soft as velvet.

" So what have you been up to, Mrs Blake? " He repeated the question he asked earlier and Carla pushed herself up, getting ready to talk.

She started casually " Nothing really, just staying home, doing practically nothing and getting bored of it so I came out " She answered.

" Really? " He asked, playing with a lock of her well arranged hair.

" Yup " She replied

" But last night when I came home, I had a feeling that something was not right but I couldn't figure out what exactly it was but my guts kept telling me it had to do with you " He frowned in concentration.

Her eyes widened in surprise pretence " Me? Hell no, your feeling had nothing to do with me " She defended herself.

" Really? " Liam grinned at her and she nodded.

" Are you really okay? Not sick or anything? Damn, I can't just ignore the fact that something might actually be wrong with you " He sighed in frustration.

" Well, " Carla raised her hands for him to see " As you can see, I'm fine, perfectly fine " She smiled at him brightly.

" You're not sick or anything, are you? " He probed further, searching her face for some hidden emotions that might proved him right.

She shook her head with a smile " There is no cause for alarm Mr Blake, I'm as agile as ever " Her eyes twinkled with with hidden excitement which made Liam come to the conclusion that she was truly happy. About what exactly though? Their perfect, little lives perhaps? He wasn't sure.

She started talking again " Though... " And stopped, smiling at something she seemed to have remembered. Her smile was a mixture of sadness and happiness coupled together to become hope

of something better, he couldn't gauge the expression well.

He perked up " Though? " He prompted when he saw that she wasn't planning of saying more anytime soon.

She sighed and continued " Though I didn't feel too good few days ago... "

" Why didn't you tell me?? " He half shouted and Carla cringed a little. He moved back a little to search her face thoroughly, scared the sickness might still lingered around her somewhere.

" Why didn't you inform me about it sooner so I would have taken you to the hospital? Why? " He asked, his voice more calm this time.

She placed her hands over his and shook her head " It's fine Liam, really I'm okay "

" But I'm your husband Carla, I should know what's going on with you " He insisted and ran his thumb over her lower lip softly.

" I'm fine now, aren't I? " She said in a whisper, his thumb on her lip was starting to have an effect on her. She was brought out of the spell he seemed to have casted on her when her phone rang.

Liam pretended not to hear the shrilling ringtone and continued to caress his thumb over her lip until she slapped his hand away.

" Stop! I have a call " She said, laughing and took out her phone. It was Jenny.

" Hey bitch! What's up? " Jenny shouted from the other end and Carla rolled her eyes.

" I'm good and you? " She asked Jenny anyway. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

" Well, I'm good, way too good in fact " Jenny said, sounding excited.

Carla got curious so she asked " You sound happy, what's up? " She asked with earnest interest.

Jenny giggled " Do I? " Then she coughed slightly before she started talking again in her normal voice.

" Well... " She stopped and laughed, which made Carla's curiosity turned into annoyance by Jenny's attempt to stall for time.

" What is it, Jenny? " Carla asked with a hint of anger, as she didn't like to be kept waiting and Jenny knew that too but chose to torment her a little bit.

She giggled again " That jerk finally asked me to be his date tomorrow night! " She whooped.

Carla frowned " Who? "

Jenny's laughter died down " You don't know who?! Are you kidding me now?! " She shrieked in mock surprise.

Carla rolled her eyes " I don't know dummy, only if you'd be kind to tell me "

Jenny sighed dramatically " Okay, I forgot you have a lot going through your head... "

Carla cut her off " Cut it out Jenny, now talk or I'll hang up "

" You wouldn't dare! " Jenny yelled threateningly.

" Try me " Came Carla's firm reply.
