The baby contract

Chapter 30

Chapter 30

" Whoa honey, I love this guy! He is so charming! " Georgia exclaimed excitedly and her voice was so girlish and full of life that made Carla wondered if it was the same woman who laid bedridden few hours ago. Carla rolled her eyes inwardly at her mother's girlish attitude but gave her a sweet smile, if not too sweet smile.

" Now that you're all better, I'm going back to Mexico in the morning " She announced

" Why?! " Georgia shrieked

" Because obviously, there's nothing wrong with you, you just missed me that's all, and I'm here now " Carla said and exhaled a tired sigh

" So stay with me longer, please baby " Georgia whined and pouted

Carla reached out for her mother's hands and squeezed them in hers " Mom, I have my own life to live too, I'm getting married to one of the most wonderful guys I've ever met in a week and I've not prepared a thing for the wedding. Instead, I ran here when I heard you were sick and now that you're all better, I should go live my own life too " Carla took a deep breath and her eyes glistened with unshed tears.

Georgia gazed at daughter sadly " Honey, come on, don't cry, it's just that I missed you so much that my heart ache, but I couldn't ask you to come for a visit because I know your purpose out there is to make enough money to clear the family's debt, thank you so much honey but I think you've done enough. It's time you go enjoy your youthful days " A tear slid down her cheek and Carla reached out to wipe it off.

Then she pulled Georgia into a warm hug " Thank you Mom, I love you "

Georgia sniffed and smiled wistfully " I love you more honey, I love you so much that you remind me of your father "

" It's okay Mom, don't cry " Carla said and drew back from the hug.

" When are you leaving? " Georgia said, wiping away the remains of her tears.

Carla shook her head " I'll stay with you for two more days, then I'll leave for Mexico "

Georgia's eyes widened in excitement " Thank you baby! Now, we can catch up on old times "

" Only for a few days, Mom " Carla said firmly, snapping her fingers in front of Georgia.

Georgia chuckled wryly " Those two days will leave a memory, honey " She said in a whisper.

Like Georgia said, the two days passed by quickly with them catching up on old times and making some memories. They did almost everything together. Secretly, both of them wished they were a whole family again, a complete one. Davis's demise had left a scar none of them could forget. She had the best moments of her life in those days and when it came to an end, she was quite sad, she had spent some good moments of her life with her Mom. Leaving for Mexico again was as sad for her as it was for Georgia but Carla needed to be strong for both of them.

" Why are you weeping, Mom? " She asked , tapping Georgia lightly on the arm. Their last night crawled up on them slowly, which made Carla wished she had some sort of supernatural powers to stop the time.

Georgia shook her head, trembling slightly " No... Nothing, I think something got into my eyes, that's all "

Carla sighed " I'm not a kid you know, and it's very clear that you're crying "

" I'm not crying, I think dust got into my eyes or something " Georgia replied shakily.

Sighing again, Carla faced her mother and stared her right into her eyes " I'm only a few hours away and it's not like I'd be leaving for good, so why are you crying? Besides, Liam will make arrangements for you to come to our wedding so I don't understand why you're crying "

Georgia's tear rimmed eyes looked confused for a minute " I thought you guys decided to go for a very small wedding? " Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

" Of course, but that wouldn't stop you from coming, so I don't understand why you're crying " Carla replied.

Georgia stared at her daughter with bloodshot eyes and red nose " You don't understand, do you baby? "

" Make me, Mom " Carla muttered with a weary sigh.

Georgia gulped " It won't be the same situation picture anymore, this is the last night we have together as my daughter, you'd be a married woman the next time I see you " She exhaled a deep breath and continued after a minute.

" This is the last night I get to see you as my single, unmarried little girl " She whispered and sniffed, reaching for a tissue.

Carla's eyebrows were furrowed and she spread out her arms in confusion " Well? I don't see the point here Mom, I am and will always be your little baby girl, nothing will change that, not even marriage "

" Come here " Georgia said and held out her arms in which Carla went into, liking the feeling of being engulfed in her mom's warmth.

Carla passed the night in Georgia's room, with her Mom holding her close and patting her hair, while humming softly. Carla woke up very early the next morning in a bid to make it to Mexico before dark. She had refused Liam's help of arranging a flight for her, saying she could manage well on her own. She couldn't feed off him much longer, he always wanted to make things easy for her even when she didn't really needed his help. She had to survive on her own and not get used to him because it would only resulted into an heartache when the marriage was finally over. She had only accepted his offer of booking the flight for her to Houston because she was running out of time and had no choice. But things were different now, she had the time to book a flight for her return to Mexico and she did. She knew most girls would jump at the offer but she was different, she couldn't feed off him more than she already had.

She wouldn't have accepted his contract proposal of marriage if it was not life saving but it wouldn't be dignified of her to leech off him for the maximum of the two years they would spend together.
