The Apple of My Eye

Chapter 1818 She Is Not Suitable For The Position

Chapter 1818 She Is Not Suitable For The Position

Leila spoke to Holley with a high degree of certainty over the phone. "Now that Charles is missing,

Melissa is sure to take over the Shining Company. How can it have nothing to do with me?"

"Leila, it seems that your mother-in-law really dotes on you!"

Although Holley could have more bargaining power in front of Ferry after helping him defeating the

Shining Company, she still felt a little unhappy because it was with Leila's help.

"Of course! But what about you? You are already pregnant, why aren't you getting married yet? Would

you rather have a wedding after your child grows up?" Leila pretended to be concerned about Holley,

but deep down, she just prayed in her heart that the Hu family wouldn't accept Holley. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

A hint of displeasure was evident in Holley's voice when she replied, "That's none of your business,

Leila!"

"Okay, okay. Please, get back to me as soon as possible. Don't keep me waiting for too long.

Remember, you're not my only option." Leila didn't have the patience to keep playing nice with Holley,

so she quickly hung up.

Although Holley was infuriated by Leila's arrogance, there was nothing she could do right now, except

watch Leila gloat.

Holley called Ferry's number after she calmed down.

Ferry was having a drink in the bar when he received Holley's call. He was surprised to see her name

on his screen, and he smiled. After a short pause, he answered it, "What's up? Have the Hu family

seen through your tricks? Do you need my help?"

"If I help you get rid of Charles, will you help me in return?" Holley didn't even bother to ease in as she

blurted out whatever was on her mind.

"Get rid of Charles? You? Are you telling me that you're powerful enough to go up against the Shining

Company now?" Ferry's face expressed utter disbelief. He thought that perhaps Holley was barking up

the wrong tree now.

Holley took a deep breath and told Ferry everything she knew about Charles' situation.

"Charles is missing?" Ferry had been leaning back on the sofa just now, but after hearing the news, he

sat up almost immediately.

Holley reassured him, "Well, believe it or not, it's true! Melissa is going to take over the Shining

Company soon. That means, our chance is coming!"

Ferry's face became deep and pensive with thought. After a while, he answered, "That's great. You

should get Leila to manipulate Melissa first, so she can get the confidential documents of the Shining

Company. Finally! At long last, we can wipe them off the face of the planet!"

"Yes, I can do that! But will you help me after that?" Holley wasn't going to rest until she could get Ferry

to give her his word.

"What do you want me to do? Do you want me to get you pregnant, so you can become a part of the

Hu family?" Ferry burst into scornful laughter.

Holley blushed at once, but she didn't dignify Ferry's question with a response.

"That will depend on your performance!" Ferry said before he hung up on her.

The smile on his face disappeared as his eyes drifted off elsewhere in pensive thought.

'Charles, I never thought I'd live to see this day. Perhaps you are just paying for your bad deeds. Do

you believe in karma now?'

With a satisfied smile, Ferry pulled the woman next to him into his arms and began to flirt with her.

After Holley got off the phone with Ferry, she could barely keep herself calm.

She knew that it was only a matter of time before Rex would realize that she was just pretending to be

pregnant. Her only hope was to go and find Black now, but if that didn't work out, she would have to

find someone who could protect her from Rex.

Calling Leila was the only thing that could save her now. It was, without a doubt, the only trick she had

left up her sleeve.

Holley did not hesitate to quickly call Leila back. She felt relieved once she told Leila everything Ferry

had said.

"I know what to do! When I need your help, I will contact you in advance."

Leila just wanted to find someone to help her. The last thing she had wanted was to get Holley's

counsel.

After hanging up, Leila slowly walked toward the balcony. She looked up at the bright moon glittering in

the dark sky, and a smug smile appeared on her face. She murmured to herself with her hands crossed

over her chest. "Sheryl, even God is on my side. Can you see it?"

This was the first time Leila was able to get a peaceful night's sleep after she came to Dream Garden.

The next day

Melissa got up early because she was going to go to the Shining Company today. Even Nancy felt

surprised because this was the first time she had seen Melissa up at this hour.

"Ma'am, why are you up so early? Couldn't you sleep?" Nancy couldn't help asking her.

Unfortunately, Melissa was in a bad mood already, so Nancy's words only agitated her even more. She

rolled her eyes at Nancy and said, "What nonsense! Who said I can't get up early? I am free to get up

whenever I want!"

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I didn't mean it like that!" Nancy scrambled to explain, fearing Melissa's wrath.

"Oh, forget it! Stop wasting time talking about these things with me. Hurry up and make breakfast!"

Melissa dismissed Nancy and then sat on the sofa to wait for breakfast.

Nancy shut her mouth at once and went to the kitchen quickly. She didn't want to get herself in trouble

over a few words.

Leila, however, was so excited last night that she didn't go to bed until late at night. In the morning, she

wasn't pleased to hear Nancy forcing her to wake up.

"Hey! What's going on?" Leila was really angry that much was certain. She was sitting on the bed and

glaring at Nancy with eyes full of displeasure.

"Miss Zhang, ma'am is already awake and ready to have breakfast. If you don't want to go to the

company, you can sleep as much as you like!" Nancy had a lot of respect for Melissa. After all, she was

her master. Leila, however, was just a guest to her. Her politeness towards Leila was out of necessity

and duty, nothing else.

"Well, I know." Leila's face darkened instantly. After Leila finished speaking with Nancy, she pulled the

quilt over her head again and went back to sleep.

Leila tossed and turned in bed but couldn't fall asleep. Before long, she went downstairs for a glass of

water. The expression of discontent disappeared from her face, leaving only flattery for Melissa.

"Aunt Melissa, you seem to be in a better mood. Are you ready to fight for what's yours?" Leila slowly

approached Melissa, took her arm, and walked with her to the table.

"Well, don't worry. I'm all right. After breakfast, let's go to the company together."

Melissa looked at Leila with a smile. After a night of ideological struggle, she now felt relieved, and for a

moment, she even stopped thinking about Charles. She realized that no news would sometimes mean

good news.

"Don't worry, Aunt Melissa. I'll be by your side." Leila patted her chest and promised Melissa that she

would support her no matter the odds.

After breakfast, they soon arrived at the Shining Company.

David had known for a while that Melissa would come. Although he didn't think that she was suitable

for this position, it was not suitable for anyone else to take the post at the moment. So to show

submission, he came out to welcome her on her arrival.
