The Alpha’s Little Luna

Alpha Zane’s POV

It has been an exhausting meeting, I tried so hard to finish everything within these two weeks, but it didn’t work out.

I’ll have to stay here two more days, as I’m not fond of half work. But I miss my mate terribly, I swear, this is the last time I’ll be away from her for this long.

A few minutes earlier, I entered my hotel room after a long and weary discussion with Alphas from other packs. This meeting is more in their favor than mine, my pack is making solid gains, our economy is even getting into overheating. We produce more than we are able to consume and now want to expand our investments to other communities. Midnight Moon prefers to invest in packs on the verge of bankruptcy, helping them back to their feet. And it is precisely these failed Alphas that throw out a high attitude.

I quickly check my phone to see if I have a message from Mercedes.

Then I quickly dive into the bathroom, only to re-enter the bedroom ten minutes later in a bathrobe. And now I see that my beloved has sent a text.

‘Zane. Are you sleeping already? Are you coming home tonight?’ she asked me. Goodness, I hate to break the bad news to her. Two more long days without her, my wolf has been whining in my head all day. But I really need to finish that one.

‘No, love. I was actually waiting to hear from you. Please call me, I’m in my hotel room.’

Immediately after I hit the ‘send’ button, her video call comes through.

“Baby, it’s so late already. Don’t you have to go to school tomorrow?” I asked her as soon as she enters the picture. Her silver eyes look at me, sparkling happily. I hate that I have to disappoint her, she’s really looking forward to my arrival.

“Yes, but I couldn’t fall asleep without talking to you first. Are you leaving tonight?”

I take a deep breath as I continue to look at her.

“No, I have to postpone my departure. We’re not quite there yet, some Alphas need more time to go through contracts,” I sighed. “Two more days, my love. I miss you terribly.” And immediately, the beam in her eyes gives way to disappointment.

“Two days? Zane, I’m up. You’re already gone for two weeks. I need you here,” she whispered to me sadly. “Never before have we been apart for so long.” Her grief breaks my heart.

“I’m sorry, Mercedes. If I could, I would have finished everything tonight. But don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you,” I promised. I make a mental note to visit the jeweler at the airport before leaving. My mate loves jewelry, although she already has a large selection, they still make her happy.

“Go to sleep now, so that you are fully rested for school. We’ll talk again tomorrow, okay?”

After throwing a kiss at her, I end the conversation. I can’t stand it any longer, that dim in her beautiful eyes. With a sigh, I turn my pillow and stare at the ceiling. I’ve been away for two weeks and I wonder what that Alpha son has tried with my mate. Some days ago, she noticed that he kept trying to pay for her food and sit next to her in the school cafeteria. But she has agreed with her friends that they will flank her. The Alpha now positions opposite her, forcing one of her classmates to give way.

I never insist on news of this Alpha son, but let Mercedes tell me about him as soon as she feels the need. I avoid confrontation as long as my mate can hold this scum away.

Meanwhile, I send silent signals to him that she belongs to me. I have to be patient, two more years and I can take her to my pack. And then we can mark each other and finally mate. I am so looking forward to that day. My mate is so passionate, I long for the day of our union. I have no doubt it will be breathtaking, I trust the mate bond on that.

A knock on my room door pulls me out of my musings.

My Gamma Kenry steps in, he too, wants to get back as soon as possible. The indecision of these businessmen irritated him quite a bit.

“Alpha, what do we act when these guys can’t make up their fucking minds? They really seem like amateurs in business,” he cursed. “They cannot even judge a simple contract by themselves”.

I shake my head, I’ve also noticed that these guys are wasting our time. I would rather be elsewhere, in a closed room with my sexy mate, to be more specific.

“Have you spoken to Mercedes? She must be disappointed with this delay. I will also bring her something nice as a comfort,” he added. Kenry and Mercedes are the best of friends.

Since she was thirteen, he’s been eager to train her and has assigned himself as her personal bodyguard. When she’s in my pack, he’s always near her, making sure she’s safe all the time. I think he too, has noticed the jealousy of some she-wolves and had warned them a few times to stay away.

Just like my Beta Jace, he showers her with lots of gifts when he travels outside the pack for meetings or vacations. Jace is proud that he was the one who found Midnight Moon’s Luna. From the day he’d saved her, he’d spoiled her without limits, made sure that she lacked nothing. The two men brought her souvenirs and girly stuff all the time. Her childish joy is so infectious, and they revel in her happiness as they hand her the presents. Everything for their little Luna.

“No, she wasn’t ecstatic about it. And her facial expression bothered my wolf so much that I had to finish the conversation quickly”, I grinded again. “Let’s do everything we can to finish this by tomorrow.” Kenry agrees, it’s clear he hates Mercedes being unhappy.

After wishing me a good night’s sleep, he returns to his room…
