Chapter 768 Covert Operation
Chapter 768 Covert Operation
Caspian replied, "Understood. If I encounter any problems in the future, I'll report them to the Inspector
General's office immediately.
"Your Majesty, you awarded me the Diatoranian medal five years ago today. If possible, I would like to
return to serve Diatoran by your side."
"There will be opportunities. Just stay still for now. Take this time to reflect."
Caspian's expression turned ugly at Balthazar's words.
He was probing Balthazar earlier. Nothing had happened five years ago on this day. The day he was
honored with the title of Diatoranian God of War coincided with Diatoran's victory. Balthazar couldn't
have forgotten.
"By the way, do you know the details of what happened to the Massey family and why your father,
Logan, was disgraced?" Balthazar asked.
Caspian was stunned for a moment at the mention of this topic. Why would Balthazar suddenly bring
this up?
"I don't," Caspian respectfully replied.
He sensed something amiss. Balthazar was behaving very strangely.
"Because Logan deliberately abandoned you. Also, your mother didn't run away from home. Logan
drove her out."
Caspian might have believed Balthazar's words in the past. But after their strange conversation, he
began to have doubts.
He hadn't asked Balthazar about this, yet Balthazar suddenly mentioned the Massey family. Clearly, it
was brought up with a strong purpose.
Balthazar wanted to further strain Caspian's relationship with the Massey family.
Caspian was now sure that Balthazar had indeed been manipulated. However, he wasn't sure why
Balthazar was being threatened by Jerry.
"I would never acknowledge a person like Logan as my father. I'd rather kill him," Caspian deliberately
said.
He knew that only by expressing his stance could he appease Jerry.
After all, Jerry's greatest fear was Caspian regaining control of the military.
"Nevertheless, you must not fully trust everything Logan says," Balthazar said before ending the call.
…
At the King's residence, Balthazar collapsed as soon as he hung up the phone.
"Hahaha! Caspian is quite funny. He's already in trouble himself, but he still wants to return to the king's
side," Zane sneered.
"Although Caspian has lost his official position, he still commands respect. It might be difficult to deal
with him," Jerry expressed his concern.
"Dad, you're overestimating Caspian. He's now a lone wolf without military power. We have no reason
to fear him," Kelvin dismissed.
"Who knows for sure? Caspian was dismissed by the king before, but the king still called him back. To
prevent such a thing from happening again, I must issue an order in the king's name so that he'll never
recall Caspian again.
"This way, Caspian's followers will give up on him entirely," Jerry said sinisterly.
"Dad, this move is like removing the source of trouble! By then, nobody will stand by Caspian's side
anymore. We must capture Caspian alive and torture him."
…
On the other end, Caspian was filled with doubts after the call. He couldn't understand why Balthazar
didn't seek help despite being controlled.
He then called Laina.
"Yes, Lord Caspian?" Laina answered respectfully.
"How's the investigation going?" Caspian asked.
"Lord Caspian, Skyarch Palace has many secrets, and there are many organizations within it. Various
factions and sects have joined, and there are many talented individuals I've never heard of before,"
Laina reported.
"Be careful not to arouse suspicion from its members. I just spoke with His Majesty."
"What? Did he ask for your help? What can I do?" Laina eagerly asked, thinking Balthazar had finally
sought Caspian's aid.
"No, it seems he has forgotten what happened before. I suspect that Jerry and his group have
controlled Balthazar's mind," Caspian said.
"What should we do now? The King's residence is filled with Skyarch Palace's people. It's difficult even
for me to enter. If there's an opportunity, I can check on His Majesty's condition," Laina said helplessly.
She wanted to storm into the King's residence and rescue Balthazar. But the place was heavily
guarded. She dared not act rashly.
"Don't act on your own. Avoid alerting them. Take two members of team Rose and try to infiltrate
Skyarch Palace. You might uncover some clues," Caspian instructed.
Members of Task Force Rose were experts in infiltration and covert investigation. Moreover, their
identities were highly classified, making it impossible for ordinary people to trace them.
"I got it. Jerry is surely targeting you now, so you must be careful. I'll come at once if you need me,"
Laina said with concern.
"Don't worry. Jerry can't harm me. Focus on rescuing His Majesty."
After saying that, Caspian ended the call. When he exited the bedroom, he found Willow staring at him
strangely.
Ever since Willow learned that Caspian was the Diatoranian God of War, she had been wary of him,
fearing he might get involved with other women.
Feeling helpless, Caspian could only tell her about his conversation with Balthazar.
Though Willow didn't entirely believe him, she didn't say much. She felt Caspian had no reason to lie to
her.
Seeing Caspian and Willow together, Sherry couldn't help but smile.
Just then, she approached Caspian and said, "Caspian, Logan called me."
"What does he want?" Caspian asked coldly.
"He said for us to return to Massey Manor," Sherry replied.
Logan intended to bring Caspian and Sherry back to Massey Manor so they could be reunited as a
family.
However, Sherry wasn't interested. She outright refused Logan. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Yet she was also worried about Caspian's safety. Only by returning to Massey Manor could they ensure
their safety.
"What's the point of going back? We're living well here, aren't we?" Caspian firmly stated.
Upon hearing this, Sherry didn't press further.
…
The next day, while everyone was having breakfast, the doorbell rang.
Cecilia hurried to answer it, only to find Denzel with a smile standing outside the villa. Logan was
behind him.
Seeing Logan, everyone except Caspian instinctively stood up.
Caspian spoke with a displeased tone, "We're eating. Why stand up?"
