Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Chapter 69

“Are you sure that this is their normal routine?” Hubert asks the man he hired to look after Emerald and their family.

“We left them as soon as they reached home from the hotel,” the man answered.

“What did they do there?”

“I had no idea, and later another man came too.”

“Who is that man?”

“I haven’t looked at him yet. I just saw him earlier. As for the one staying in that hotel room, I heard from the staff that he was a business tycoon from another country.”

“So, the couple were doing another business? They are really wealthy.” Hubert said.

“I think so too. You know that Mr. Higginson is a well-known businessman. It was difficult to go against him.”

“Are you scared now?” Hubert asked angrily.

“Of course not! But I want to remind you that you must pay us handsomely; Mr. Higginson is not easy to deal with.”

“You don’t have to worry about that. Emerose said that her bastard sister is wealthy in her own right. She was also the founder and CEO of the ACEGame, so we will hit the jackpot once we get either the boy or that bitch,”

“That’s what I want to know. Since we understand each other, you don’t have to worry because we will do our best to get them.” The man replied with a wicked smile on his face.

The following day, the man and the others watched over Emerald and the boy separately. They focused their attention on them because they knew they wouldn’t have a chance to get Jace easily.

Seeing Emerald walking out of the ACEGame building alone, the man Hubert hired smiled, thinking he had to take advantage of the situation. He followed young Morgan while he instructed the others to do the same and be ready to get her as soon as she got out of the car.

Emerald had no idea what was about to happen and was busy thinking about the expansion until she reached the grocery store’s main office and paid the driver before getting out of the car. But as she started walking in the main door of the building, she heard the tires screeching, making her turn around and look.

Two armed men quickly left the van and grabbed young Morgan, who was still confused. When she realized what was going on, it was already too late since the men already pushed her inside the vehicle and fled.

“Who are you? What do you want from me?” Emerald asked angrily as she continued hitting the men sitting beside her.

“Shut up!” the man shouted before he slapped her, making Emerald shut her mouth because of her pained cheek.

“This is too easy, man; I never thought we would be able to have an opportunity this early, ” said the man driving.

“Hubert will be too happy and might give us the bonus,” the man sitting in the passenger seat replied, which excited the other men.

Emerald was just listening but began to feel scared about her life. “Mark said the boy had his bodyguard, so we would have difficulty taking him.”

“What did you say?” young Morgan asked, shocked. “Don’t you dare touch my son!” she added, and the men inside the van laughed. It was so loud that it annoyed her, making her want to kill everyone if only she could. But as she thought about what the man said, she felt relieved, thinking Ace was safe.

‘Yes, it’s better this way; instead of taking my son, I’d rather let them take me.’ Emerald thought and began praying for her life. Although she knows that Jace will do everything to find her, she still doesn’t know what the men with her want from her. ‘Who the hell is Hubert?’ she asked herself as she tried to recall anyone with that name.

Young Morgan tried calming herself and began thinking about how to escape them. She hoped that Jace would find out about what had happened to her. She quieted and tried to relax because she knew she needed energy and to always be alert.

“Hey man, since you have the best of everything, why don’t you give our employees a break?” Kyle asked as he entered his office.

“You have been telling me about it for how many weeks now? What is it really with you?” Jace asked his friend.

“Well, I heard from some of our employees that they wanted to conduct a team building. For the last months, they felt drained with all the work we asked them to do.”

“You take care of those things, Kyle. I have no time for that. You know how much I want to spend time with my family after work.”

“Alright, all I need is your approval,” Kyle replied, smiling.

“When it comes to our employees’ needs, growth, and well-being, I already told you that I’m ready to support them,” Jace replied.

“Thank you, man, that you didn’t forget about them.”

“That will never happen. You know how much I owe our success to those who also worked hard when we started.” Jace replied.

After they finalized the program with their team-building, Kyle left the office to relay what they agreed to the personnel responsible for the program. He knew that his friend was busy searching for Ember and making up for Emerald and Ace. He understood that Jace wanted to spend most of his time with his family since he had been lonely after his wife left him.

In his office, Jace went back to work. He forgot about Emerald, who should have texted him when she arrived at her office in the grocery store. “Hello,” he said after he answered the call from Cade, one of his men whom he asked to look after his wife and son.

“Sir, someone took Ms. Emerald.”

“What?” Jace abruptly got up from his seat with worry on his face. “How the hell did that happen?”

“We were following her from ACEGame, and when she got out of the Uber, a van arrived, and they were too fast; we didn’t make it in time.”

“And what are you doing now?”

“We’re chasing the van. But as I already said, they were fast. I already called one of my men on his motorcycle to get closer.”

“How about my son?” Jace asked when he remembered Ace. He suddenly got worried that they were after the boy as well.

“Both he and his nanny are well-guarded. Sonny is with them along with the other three who were looking out from not too far.”

“Tell them to stay closer. I didn’t want anything to happen to my son; you got that?” Jace commanded.

“Roger that, sir. I will keep you updated with Ms. Emerald once we get caught up to the van.”

“No, tell me, where are you now? I am going to tell my in-laws about this.”

“Alright, sir.” The man shared their location with young Higginson and quickly contacted Liam as soon as they ended their call. As much as possible, he didn’t want the man to get involved in his family. But he also knew safeguarding his family was more important than giving time for his jealousy.

Emerald also ensured Jace knew Liam’s number in case something required them to help each other. The situation at the moment required their cooperation.

“I’m sorry, Dad, but I think you must stay at the hotel with Grandpa,” Jace told Mr. Landers.

“What? Are you crazy? Emerald is my daughter!” Mr. Landers exclaimed. He feels so angry when Jace tells him not to get involved. They were only talking on the phone, but young Higginson almost felt how furious the old man was.

“I know, and this is not to disrespect you. I just want my wife to be safe at all costs.”

“And what does my presence have to do with it?”

“Whoever took Emerald would wonder who you are and will start their investigation. I didn’t want them to find out that she’s related to you because your status and that of Grandpa might become another reason for them to target her even after we rescue her.” Young Higginson explained.

Mr. Landers was quiet for a moment before Jace heard him sighing. “I understand, but keep me and Uncle Dean updated.”

“Yes, Dad. I’m sorry about this.”

“It’s okay. Please, bring my daughter back to us.”

“Of course, Dad,” Jace replied, and they ended the call.

Young Higginson was only trying to keep himself steady. He was scared for the life of his wife and also for Ace. Sonny, the bodyguard looking after his son, called and told him that he already excused Ace from the class and brought him home for safety. Now, he can focus on rescuing Emerald. He is on his way to the elevator and meets Kyle.

“Jace,” his friend said, and Jace informed him of what happened afterward. “Go and save her; I’ll take care of things here.”

“Thank you; I have to go,” Higginson replied. After Kyle nodded, Jace rushed inside the elevator. He left, following the location registered on his phone that Cade shared with him. Liam had already called Detective Santos, who alerted the police and shared the van’s location, which had taken Emerald.

Meanwhile, Emerald was unconscious when the man threw her into the vacant room after they arrived at their hideout. “Make sure to tie her tightly so she won’t be able to escape.” The leader told his underlings.

“Yes, boss!” the man answered and grabbed the chair on the corner and carried the unconscious Emerald before he sat her there and tied her up.

“Hmm..” Emerald groaned.

“The woman’s awake, boss.”

“Good, Hubert will be coming here soon, ” the leader replied, leaving the room. He was expecting to receive their payment and was already thinking about everything he wanted to do to Emerald since he had a feeling that Hubert would want her dead.
