“What are you going to do about us, Emerson?” Merly asked her husband angrily. They were having breakfast in the dining area of their rented apartment. Because Mr. Morgan is not doing anything to get their company back, Mrs. Morgan is so angry that she thinks he intentionally did nothing and lets her and Emerose do all the work for their living expenses.

“What’s wrong? Didn’t I ask you to watch your expenses because we’re facing a financial crisis? Why are you blaming everything on me?” Emerson asked angrily, glaring at his wife.

“But Dad, you know how friends are..” Emerose chimed in, making her earn a glare from her father.

“If you are only half of the kind of woman Emerald is, you could have gotten a wealthy husband. Can’t you see? No matter how angry Jace was with her before, he still chose to marry her.” Emerson told her daughter.

“It’s because he planned to make her suffer!” she exclaimed. What she doesn’t like the most is when other people compare her to her little sister, which always happens when they are kids. “She’s a jinx and nothing more, so don’t compare me to her!” Emerose said angrily before she got up from her seat and left.

“Look what you’ve done, Emerson! How dare you compare my lovely daughter to your bastard!” Merly asked angrily.

“Am I not right? She had been sleeping with different men, making herself appear cheap and easy! And you, as her mother, tolerate her!”

“Look who’s talking! Didn’t you gain anything from that as well? How many business dealings did you close successfully because you let your daughter sleep with your business associates?” Merly talked back, which made Emerson angrier, so he grabbed her by her neck and said,

“I only found out about it after it was done. But you! You suggested that to Emerose so she could be a good daughter to you.” Then he got up from his chair and went out of their apartment. Merly left alone and started thinking about how she would get back at Emerald. She wanted young Morgan to suffer, thinking she was the clear evidence of her husband’s infidelity. She started to remember how everything happened.

Their grocery stores faced a financial crisis after a new supermarket was built close to their branches, offering more affordable goods. The people welcomed their competitors, and most of their patrons transferred there. Merly remembered Emerson had to stay late working, thinking about possible solutions to their problem, and she thought, every time he went home late, was to bring their business back to its glory. Little did she know that Emerson purposely stayed so he would be able to have a look at Ember.

One time, Merely decided to go to one of their stores to help her husband, and she didn’t expect to see Emerson forcing himself on Ember while she struggled so much to get away from Mr. Morgan. “I have already taken you once, Lucy!”

“And who would believe a checher like you? No one! You have no credibility while I am a well-known businessman with money to defend myself in court.” Emerson said mockingly. Mrs. Morgan was in a corner hearing everything and was furious with her husband.

“It’s okay, Lucy. If you’re going to be my mistress, I will give everything to you”, Emerson replied, smiling wickedly.

“No, I don’t want to become a mistress. You must respect and love your wife, so please, stop doing this, or I’ll tell the police.”

“I already told you no one will believe you.” Mr. Morgan said confidently.

“Did you forget that you asked to install cameras in every corner of the store?” Mr. Morgan’s eyes widened, and he looked around and realized his foolishness. “I already took the copy of what happened that night, so you better stop or go to jail.”

Because of what she hears, Merly left the store and went home. She decided to wait for her husband at home and confront him. But when Mr. Morgan arrived, she couldn’t find it in her heart to do so. She suddenly feels scared that he will leave her and their daughter if she ever nagged at him. Merly held grudges on Emerson and Lucy. Even though she heard everything, she still thinks that Lucy seduced her husband.

Merly didn’t expect that a month later, Emerson told her about Lucy being pregnant. She was very furious, “How dare you say that to me? What do you want me to do, huh?”

“You have to act like you’re pregnant, so when she gives birth, you’re going to be her mother and not that checker.”

“How dare you, Emerson! How could you make me the mother of your bastard?”

“If we’re not going to do that, she’ll put me in jail!” Emerson shouted back.

“And whose fault is that? If you kept your dick in your pants, none of this would have happened!”

“Do as I say, or I will leave you.” Mr. Morgan said angrily before he left her in the living room.

Months later, Lucy gave birth to Emerald, and they needed to make it appear that it was Merly. Because Lucy didn’t want to be away from her daughter and was scared that Mrs. Morgan would mistreat her, she decided to become her daughter’s nanny, which Merly didn’t want to agree to.

“No, Emerson! She will live with us in our house; how could you do that?”

“She’ll be our daughter’s nanny; what’s wrong with that?”

“What’s wrong is that you like that bitch!”

“Stop it, Merly, or I swear I’ll throw you out of this house!”

“How could you, Emerson! I am your wife!”

“Exactly! That’s why you need to support me on this. If you didn’t want me behind bars, do as I say!” Mrs. Morgan couldn’t do anything but to agree. She didn’t want to be thrown out of their house and knew that Emerson would do it if she didn’t follow him.

Since then, she has also begun seeing other men. Some have helped her husband rebuild their business, while the others are just to get back at him. She thinks Emerson has no idea what she is doing, so she continuously cheats on him.

She taught Emerose to be hostile to both Emerald and Lucy as she grew up, and she felt happy when she learned that her daughter was also important to her husband. So, she used little Emerose for her benefit and managed to hold Emerson on his neck.

Until years passed, Merly strongly believed that Emerson still had feelings for Lucy, so when she finally got the chance, she asked someone to take her away. But what she didn’t expect was for the goons she asked to do the task to come back to her and continuously ask for money.

“Why can’t you just die, Lucy!!” Merly shouted after her memories about the past ended. She got up and left their house to go to her lover and ask for his help.

“We’ve been together for a long time, and I do everything you tell me to do. Now I want you to do something for me,” Merly said.

“You know that I can do anything for you, Merly. If you had left your husband even before, we could have been living happily by now”, the man replied.

“Are you nuts? You know you have your wife as well.” The man chuckled.

“What is it that you want?”

“I want you to find someone; her name is Lucy Caldwell.”

“Who is she?”

“My husband’s love of his life.”

“You know I don’t do things for free,”

“We fuck, Connor!”

“But I gave you money for that.”

“What do you want?”

“Your daughter, Emerose. I also want her in my bed until I find whoever that Lucy is.”

“What?” Merly exclaimed.

“Take it or leave it,” the man replied.

“I’ll bring her to you when you give me some good news.” Merly ended up agreeing and went home. She is willing to do anything just to get Lucy and make her the receiving end of all her frustrations with Emerson, who’s not doing anything to get their wealth back, and Emerald, who was Lucy’s daughter and the one who took everything from her.
