Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

“Don’t give headaches to your grandparents, okay?” Emerald reminded her son. Jace went to their house to fetch the boy. It’s Friday, and Ace will stay at the Higginson for the whole weekend.

“Yes, Mommy”, the boy replied happily. He enjoyed being at his grandparents’ house because of his little cousin whom he was playing with. Emerald smiled and kissed Ace before handing Jace his bag of clothes.

“Please take care of him,” Young Morgan told Jace, who was taking the bag from her.

“Of course,” he replied, smiling. “Say goodbye to Mommy,” he told his son.

“Bye, Mom!” the boy said excitedly and clung to his father’s hand, which was holding his bag.

“We’re leaving,” Jace said and pulled Emerald closer before giving her a smack on her lips.

“Yehey!!” Ace jumped for joy after witnessing it. Emerald glared at Jace, who was laughing, and then left.

Emerald stayed in her house, waiting for the time. She will fetch Liam at the airport later, and he will always stay at her house. In addition to the issue in her company, she still needs to learn about her nanny.

“Thank you, M,” Liam said. They had just arrived at the house from the airport, and it was already late.

Meanwhile, Jace was thinking about Emerald and wanted to go see her. But he’s with Ace, and he can’t leave him.

Although he knows his father loves his mother, he still thinks that Jace must show Emerald not just his sincerity. “I did some research and found out that wives and women generally like the feeling of being taken care of. It’s in their nature, so you must also be extra sweet to her.”

Jace couldn’t help but laugh at his son and was amazed at how much effort he made to help him win Emerald back. “Don’t worry, son. I promise myself to baby your mother for the rest of our lives. So, even if we are together, I will still court and woo her.”

“Yes!” Ace exclaimed. “And I want a baby sister too, Dad,” he added.

“We’re going to give you a lot of baby sisters.” Jace agreed, laughing. Although it sounded like a joke between a father and a son’s conversation, he was also serious about it.

The following day, Liam and Emerald visited Liam’s friend, whom he asked to investigate Lucy’s disappearance. Young Morgan was excited and at the same time, worried. She wanted to find her nanny and was anxious that she might be in danger.

“This is Detective Santos.” Liam said, “This is Emerald, the one I’m telling you about.”

“Hello, detective,” Emerald said, shaking her hand.

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Morgan.”

“You can call me Emerald.”

“Alright,” the detective replied. They met in a cafe and started their conversation after their order arrived. “As for Ms. Ember Ferguson, also known as Lucy Hughes, it came to my knowledge that the one who took her from Donato was using an alias of Lover.”

“Lover?”

“Yes, because the man loves your nanny.”

“Wait, how did you find out about it?” Emerald asked curiously. She was getting confused with all the information she heard.

“Sorento, the man that Lover commissioned to take your nanny from Donato, told me about it.” the detective replied,

“Then where is this Sorento?” Emerald asked, hopeful. “Once we find him, we will be able to find out who that LOVER is,” she added.

“That’s the problem,” Detective Santos said, making Emerald’s forehead crease and looking at Liam, who was also confused. “He was found dead yesterday morning.”

“What!!” Liam and Emerald exclaimed before their shoulders slumped out of frustration.

“Then what will happen now?” Liam asked.

“I am investigating following all the leads Sorento told me.” Detective Santos replied. “I will get back to you once I find something or anything about that LOVER.”

“How did Sorento die?” Liam asked curiously. He was worried that Emerald might be going against someone who was powerful and might put herself in danger.

“I had his body autopsied, but the result is not out yet. But I had a feeling that it was the LOVER.” Santos answered.

“Do everything you can to find him, and if there’s anything you need, you can tell me,” Emerald said,

“No!” Liam exclaimed, making young Morgan look at him. “It’s too dangerous for you. Let me handle this,” he added.

“But”

“No more buts.” Liam insisted and averted his attention to Santos. “Contact me with anything. Don’t call her. I’m afraid that she’ll get targeted by that man, and I didn’t want anything to happen to her.”

“I’ll do that.” the detective replied, telling Emerald, “I agree with Liam. It’s too dangerous for you. We can assume that whoever that LOVER is, he knows that you are still searching for your nanny and might put you and your son in danger.”

“Do you think that man knew my nanny’s true identity?”

“Ms. Morgan, everything is possible. Whether he knew about Ember Ferguson or not is not what’s important to him. No matter who your nanny is, the fact that she’s your nanny, that man still feels the same. And I think he’s possessive or had intense feelings for her.”

“He could be a psycho, and I couldn’t risk your safety if you see Santos all the time.” Liam chimed in, and the detective nodded in agreement. “I’m sure that man knows he is after him and might do everything to find out what he knows and follow his every movement. Just to be safe, let me take care of this,” he added.

Feeling helpless, Emerald couldn’t do anything but agree. She understood his friend and the gravity of the situation. She put everything into Liam’s hands and trusted him to do everything to help her.

They went home and found Daryl in the living room. They talked about the company issue and the case they were facing. “M, Creep, and I need a bit more time for the evidence. I didn’t want to add to your investigation with your nanny, but I need to report to you as well.”
