Sold To A Billionaire

His Words

His Words

Zoe’s POV “So, you pretended to be my wife?” This was Helios’s first question soon as he got back to the waiting area. As per the doctor’s advice, the Don needs to wait for another hour before they will transfer him to his private room, and here is Helios, sitting beside me, teasing me. I frowned and looked at him. “I left with no choice. I want to see your father too. And you just left me there,” I said and glared at him, making him smirk. “You see, being my wife has the perks—” “Stop with it. I will only hold it for this day. It’s fake, okay? Fake.” “Why don’t we just make it real.” I arched my brow as I met his gaze. “We already talked about this, Hel. Am I going to repeat it again?” Helios took a deep breath and sighed as he shook his head. “No. I’m just trying—” “Court me first—” “For real—” “That’s what we talked for. Convinced me more. It’s not that I am playing hard to get but makes me feel not just to like you but to love you instead, Helios.” Helios smiled. “I could feel that you just not like me, Zoe. But you’re hindering your heart from loving me more by believing that you JUST like me,” he said, emphasizing the word: just. I shook my head. “It’s too early for marriage Helios. We barely knew each other. Look how those couples stay a decade in a relationship, but in the end, they break up. What more for us, who only see each other for a month?” “It’s the relationship that last, Zoe. Not the courtship. Marry me now, and I will promise to court you forever,” he said in a deep yet soft voice. I don’t know how to react. But that are the most romantic words that I have ever received and heard. But… in the wrong place. If only he said that in a cozy ambiance, not in the hospital, it could be more romantic.

“You should have at least kneeled and presented me a box of a ring,” I joked and let out a soft chuckle to hide my flattered self. I saw how his brow knitted, and suddenly he realized what I meant. “You mean…” “If only you have it. Maybe, I would say YES,” I replied and laughed. Helios was about to call someone when the doctor came out, and the nurses pulled his father’s bed out of the ICU. I was about to follow them when Helios reached for my hand, and we held hands until we entered the private room of his father. I could feel the warmth in his hands, and it even sent shivers down my spine. And when he let go, it feels like I am still holding his hands. But I just like him! No, we can’t rush things. I don’t want that one of us will regret the decision that we made at this moment. What if he realizes that I am not meant for him? He’s rich, and I am just an ordinary girl who just graduated from college. I am still young for marriage. Marriage is sacred and only couples who love each other will embrace it. What if he only thinks that he loves me, but he’s not? But would it be worth it to take a risk? This is not just a small one but a big one. What if one of us gives up? Yes, he was the man two years ago, but we don’t know each other yet… that much. I don’t even know what’s his favorite color. What makes him happy—those essential things that a couple must know. So, why would he marry me? What if his family is against it? Like those movies? Was the villain for the protagonists’ relationship the male lead parents? Or vice-versa? The thought of this made me feel scared. “Zoe…”

“Zoe…” I gasped when I felt him poking me on the cheek. I frowned and looked at him. “What?” “You’re spacing out. I am asking you if you’re hungry.” I pressed my lips and nodded. Honesty is the best policy. I am starving, and I just realized that. I saw Helios smile and nod as he let out his phone and called someone. I heaved a deep sigh as I looked at Don Lincoln. Even if he’s sleeping, he’s still scary. What more if I agree with the wedding and he will object to his son’s idea. Then suddenly, I realized… I haven’t seen Helios’s mother yet. I didn’t even ask Nana Milky. I waited for Helios to drop the call and will ask him. Well, if I’m gonna accept his proposal, I need to know about his family, right? I smiled at him when he looked at me and put down his phone. “Uhm… your mom will come, right?” I asked and bit my lower lip. I watched how Helios’s facial expression changed. Not literally, but I saw a glint of gloominess in his eyes. “W-What’s wrong?” I’m afraid I asked it wrongly. He shook his head. “She died when she gave birth to us,” he said and let out a soft sigh. I reached for his hand and pressed it slightly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” Helios smiled at me, making me curse inside my head. Damn, he’s really handsome! “Lucky you, you have your mother,” he said. “Lucky you, you have your father,” I stated and smiled, but it didn’t reach my eyes. Helios frowned. “What happened—” “I don’t have one. I don’t know, but mom said he already died,” I replied and met his gaze. “Uhm…” I am hesitant to say it, but, I think, his words are right. It’s the relationship that lasts. “Do you want to say something?” I nodded and was about to talk when I saw his father open his eyes. “Y-Your dad is… awake!” I exclaimed, and Helios turned to look in his father’s direction.

“Uhm…” I reached for Helios, making him stop from approaching his father, “—I’ll just stay outside,” I added. “Wait for me then. I’ll just need to talk to him,” he said, and I nodded.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
