Shouldn't Have Kissed You

Chapter 22

Chapter 22

"Hey man," Wesley greeted Chris before pulling a seat to sit down. "Shouldn't you be going home

now?"

Chris looked at his wrist watch and realized that Wesley was right. He was supposed to be heading

home but still he was in the office thinking of a new design for his company. His summer clothes had

sold so well bring allot of profit to the company.

But what was he going home to? His mother had left two weeks ago leaving him behind with his cold

wife. Yes, she had turned out to be cold towards him and he didn't like what he saw in her eyes when

she looked at him. Hate. That's what he saw and he hated himself for that.

For making her cold. She hadn't even spoke a word to him from that night. The night he thought that he

would make her pay. The night that made him learn allot about her after her out burst. He was sorry

and he had said that way too many times but it felt in deaf ears.

He missed the old Maya. The Maya who showed her emotions once in a while. That was the Maya that

he wanted back. The one who left a sweet cup of coffee for him to drink every morning just the way he

loved it. Yes, at first he had thrown away the coffee but on the second week, he had grown to the

coffee.

She prepared better coffee than Alma. And that made him to get addicted to it for that one month and

two weeks that they had stayed together. But he thought that that won't change after that night but he

was wrong.

She was actually right. His problem was to think. To think that maybe they could work thinks out after

he learned the truth but he was wrong. Maya stopped preparing his coffee in the morning as she used

to do.

She didn't even glance at him even when he said something to her. All she did was stare somewhere

else apart from him and when he was done, she would walk away without a word. And he hated it. He

hated himself for making the worst choice ever.

He hated himself for thinking at first instead of investigation. He hated himself for never giving her the

chance to explain herself before jumping into conclusions. He hated himself for never seeing the pain

in her eyes since the day he met her. And now he was paying the price.

Silent treatment. He thought the worst was when his mother ignored him but he was wrong. With him

having Maya not say a word to him for two weeks was driving him insane. He wanted to scream at her.

He wanted to hear her say anything. Anything to him even if it was to say she hated him.

He just wanted to hear her voice once more. Was that too much to ask? But he had run out of options.

Options of how to make her do that. He tried. He tried everything and anything but she never said a

word and now, now he was giving up on her. He was giving up on his wife despite him knowing that he

had to work harder than he was doing at the moment.

That's why he was at the office thinking of a new collection for his company. That's why he was there

instead of being home. He was afraid at least. Afraid to see the hate in his wife's eyes. Afraid to see the

what he brought out by his actions. That's what he feared...

"She hasn't said a word to you, has she?" Chris was pulled out of his thoughts by his friend.

He had even forgotten that he had company with him.

"No," he answered looking at Wesley. "And it really hurts Wesley. And please don't say you warned

me."

"Of course, I did warn you but your ego was too big that I could slice it into a billion pieces. But now you

know your mistakes."

Chris nodded his head, "Yes I do, and I want us to be if not anything friends."

"Tell you what."

"What?"

Wesley leaned forward and looked at his friend.

"Why don't you buy her roses and take her out on a dinner. I mean, it's on Friday. Have a place

reserved right now and over there you can apologize properly. I'm sure she won't mind. After all, all

ladies love those kinda apologize."

Chris got up from seat and took his jacket with him.

"You're a genius Wes," he patted his hand on back, "after all this is what I do when Kimberly is angry at

me. Why hadn't I thought of that?"

"Because you're dumb?"

"Yeah, I will allow you call me that just for now. I've Mary call the restaurant right now and reserve the

place for two. I'm sure Maya is home now."

Wesley smiled and him and wished him luck as he got out of the office. That's what he needed the

most at the time. He drove his car to a flower shop and bought white roses for his wife. They're his

favorite and he just hoped they were hers too.

When he pulled at the parking lot in the mansion, he couldn't help but become more nerves than he

was. His hands were all sweaty as he took the flowers in his hands and walked towards the door. The

house was in silence that he doubted that Alma was around.

Chris walked up stairs and into his room. He placed the flowers on the bed and walked to the

bathroom. Maya wasn't around and that gave him time to prepare himself before she got back. After he

was done showering, he walked out with a towel around his waist.

Just then, Maya walked in the room. She wore a black pants and a green top that eliminated her eyes.

She was beautiful with her hair in a messy ponytail. He didn't know why but he wanted he to stare at

him like she used to before. But to his surprise Maya walked pasted him and to the bathroom.

Chris had the shower run and he knew that she was showering giving him time to dress up. He wore a

black suit with a white shirt inside which went along with a black bow tie. He looked at himself in the

vanity mirror and he loved what he saw. Handsome but he had to agree that he would be more

handsome if he shaved his now growing bear.

But there wasn't time for that. The shower had stopped running and any minute from then, his wife was

about to walk out of the bathroom and he would ask her out. Just then, he heard the door knob turn

and he walked to the bed and took the flowers from it.

Maya walked out with a short Royal blue dress that reached her mid thigh. She looked amazing and if

she accepted his request, he would show ever man that she was his. That he was the luck guy who

had married the beauty before him.

Chris walked towards her and stretched his hands to her to gift her the roses.

"I know I haven't been the best husband or friend for the past two months that we've been staying

together but I want to apologize and as you out on a dinner date."

That's what he could think off. His mind was in a mess with her standing there before him looking that

beautiful. What else would he have said?

She didn't even bother to glance at him nether did she take the flowers. In stead, she walked passed

him and to the suitcase. She took out her black purse which she put her phone and credit cards. After

that, she pulled her black high heels shoes and wore them.

She began to walk towards the door when Chris pulled her making her loose her balance and land on

his chest. She felt good there and he wanted it to last like for ever. He just wanted her with him. To talk

to him even if it was about at him.

But no, instead, she pulled away from him as if he had burned her. It hurt him but that was not the time

to think.

"Can we talk, please." He pleaded in a low voice.

She didn't say anything instead she turned around and began to walk again.

"Maya, please," that made a stop but she didn't turn. "I thought that you would say yes to my invitation.

I want us to talk. I want to apologize, Maya. I need us to start all over again. Please."

She didn't say anything. Chris watched her turn the door knob and walk out of the room. He deserved

that but he wasn't about to give up. He followed her down stairs.

"Do you want me to go on my knees?" He asked when she was few steps away from the front door.

"Fine, I'm on my knees Maya, can we please talk?" He asked getting down on his knees.

Chris watched her turn around and what he saw in her eyes had him thinking otherwise. It was rang

and that made him want the earth to swallow him up. He had awaken the beast without him knowing it.

And that, that was worse than he thought he would ever be.

"You think that will make me talk to you?" She asked walking towards him, "I'll tell you what you said to

me once, I thought you're smart but you're dumber than I ever thought. I mean, I haven't done anything

so far and you're on your knees Chris? Just two weeks silence and you're beginning? One would think

that were once best friends. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

"But to be honest, you look pathetic on your knees. Coward. Yes, that's what you're now. But tell you

what, I haven't started with you yet dear husband and be sure by the time I'm done with you, you'll be

crawling on you knees not kneeling on them. Mark my words, hubby. The game has just began.

"I mean, you love to play chess right? I love it more that you can ever imagine. I just hope you won't be

defined in your out game. So, let the game begin officially. May the best man win. Now if you excuse

me, I've a date to be in."

And with that, she was out. Chris walked to the door and he couldn't believe his eyes. The bastard was

back in his wife's life. He watched him give her a bar of chocolate before perking both her cheeks and

opening the door for her.

As the car drove out of the mansion, he thought of how that should have been him. He should have

been the one taking her out for dinner date. The one who is listening to her talk and not another man.

He even thought that he had taken care of the gentleman but he was wrong. The psycho was back and

this time, he was back at the wrong moment. Yes, it wrong. He didn't even have an idea of what to do

to stop Maya from doing something crazy.

He thought her not talking to him was worse but the threats that she issued to him, he was very much

afraid. Afraid of what she might do to him and his career. Afraid of her going to public about there

marriage. But she couldn't.

Could she do that?
