Chapter 58
Trevor took Bennett to a seat that was not far away. Alfred turned his head back to look at Jessica and lowered his voice. "Jessica, I heard you went to work?"
"Yes, I need to earn money after returning to the country." Jessica paused while holding the knife and fork in her hand. She didn't dare to turn her head to look at Bennett again.
"If you want to re-enter the business society, you can come to my company. You don't need to waste time by starting from the bottom."
"Thank you, Mr. Whiteburn. It's just that I have my principle, and I hope you can respect my decision."
She also didn't want Alfred to enter into her life too much. He bestowed too much favor on her, and she was afraid that she would never be able to return the favor if things went on like this. "Fine, I will respect your decision, but don't address me as Mr. Whiteburn anymore. I have said countless times, call me Alfred. It's been so long, you still can't change it."
Alfred attentively pushed the plate of well-cut steak to Jessica. Then took hers to place it in front of him, and cut it with a knife and fork again.
"Alright."Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Jessica nodded. Looking at the plate of steak on the table, she suddenly lost her appetite, so she got up and went to the restroom.
As Jessica was standing in front of the mirror outside the restroom, she lowered her eyes and looked at herself in the mirror.
She was Jessica yet not the same one anymore.
"Are you done? Standing here dilly dallying."
A rude and fashionable woman came from behind. She pushed Jessica away with her slender fingers, staring at her with total contempt.
"I don't understand, how could they allow this kind of woman to enter this place? After a few years of not coming back, Eliason's standard is getting lower and lower." Jessica was pushed without warning. Suddenly, the leg that was originally crippled suffered severe pain.
She did not stand still and almost fell. Fortunately, she was caught by someone with a wide and strong chest, and a pair of big hands firmly supported her arm. "Thank..."
Just as she wanted to thank the person who helped her, she looked up and saw the face of the person in front of her. She immediately gets away from him. "Hello, Mr. Gulliford."
Her heartbeat suddenly spiked, she was really afraid that she would be recognized at such a close distance.
Trevor frowned subconsciously as he looked at the woman who got away from him, wondering why he had never seen this woman before, yet he felt a sense of familiarity. "Trevor?"
The woman who was looking in the mirrorturned her head to look at Trevor, and her eyes lit up.
"I originally planned to go to your company banquet tomorrow to surprise you, but I didn't expect such a
coincidence. We met today."
Her voice was charming, just as she was about to approach him, Trevor took a step back.
"Alright, see you tomorrow." His expression was rigid. He turned his head to look at Jessica and spoke with a soft tone. "Are you alright?" "I'm fine."
Jessica nodded her head, then smiled politely. Thereafter, she turned around and left.
Trevor watched the woman who left in a hurry, his gaze immediately fell on the back of her neck, but he didn't find any birthmark.
She was not Jessica after all, his wife was already dead, and it was his fault she died.
Thinking of this, he lost his appetite. After watching Bennett eat something. They returned to Gulliford's residence.
Bennett still behaved the same, he felt indifferent to him. Meanwhile, he hides in the study room to write information about medical skills.
But every day, Bennett would walk out of the study room at six or seven o'clock and go to the room to sleep. It was already past eight o'clock today and he hadn't come out yet. Trevor was a little worried, afraid that the child would be too tired. After all, he was only nine years old.
"Monica? Has Bennett come out?"
"Mr. Gulliford, not yet. Do you need me to call him out?"
Monica put down the mop in her hand, and she replied softly.
"Let me do it."
Trevor wanted to attend to all matters related to
Bennett personally, so he got up and went upstairs to the study room, but he seemed to hear Bennett talking to someone.
"That's weird, isn't he the only one in the study room?" Trevor thought to himself.
He didn't understand and stopped in his tracks, listening to Bennett's conversation. "Brother, is it for real? Mom is not dead?"
