Chapter 3170
Chapter 3170
“I'll keep up with my rehab and get back to how I used to be. I won't become a burden to you, though I can't promise when I'll get better. Now that I've changed to an electric wheelchair, I can operate it myself to get around and reduce the burden on my caretaker.
“I've thought about it and I think we'd better get our marriage license first and hold the wedding after I've recovered fully.”
Duncan remembered what Zachary said about Liberty being possibly traumatized from her last marriage and worrying that he would be stolen by someone else.
Then they would just get married. He would be her man. Who could take him away?
He was a very single-minded person. Otherwise, he would not still be unmarried at thirty-six.
Once he fell in love, it was for a lifetime.
There was very little room in his heart and he only had just enough for Liberty. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
If anyone wanted to get in—well, there was not even enough space to stand in there.
For some time, Liberty wanted to get married to Duncan, but she only wanted to register their marriage. She did not want to have another wedding.
She felt that since it was her second wedding and because she was marrying into a rich family, she should keep it low-key and did not want to attract too much attention.
Her whole family disagreed, and so did Duncan and the Lewises. Serenity even said to her sister that so what if it was her second marriage?
It was a marriage in good faith and had not arisen from an affair. Who said second marriages could not be held in a high-profile manner? She wanted her sister to have a grand wedding when getting married to Duncan so that everyone could witness how happy Liberty was, while the Lewises felt that Duncan could not go without a wedding as it was his first and he was a Lewis. Liberty could not disappoint him. They did not just want a wedding, they wanted a grand wedding that could rival the likes of Josh and Jasmine’s or Zachary and Serenity's.
Setting aside the wedding issue, Liberty had been willing to marry him since she accepted his feelings, as long as he proposed to her. However, Duncan was not as anxious to get married as he was afraid that he would be unable to recover fully and burden Liberty.
That was why they were still just dating and had not gotten married yet. However, now that Duncan brought up getting married before the next year, Liberty hesitated.
“Duncan, I'm very busy right now and don't have the time to arrange for all that, so let's wait until after the new year.”
Liberty truly was busy, but was a bit worried that if Rhea really did make a move, Duncan would change his mind.
She wanted to wait and see if Rhea would do anything else and if Duncan would still love her the same in the face of a passionate pursuit of a better woman.
Then, once her company was on track and she had a bit more leisure time, she would definitely go back to Wiltspoon and register her marriage to Duncan before holding a grand wedding.
That way, she could avoid getting divorced because of adultery again. Having been divorced once already, Liberty was honestly quite scared. At the end of the day, she was traumatized and hurt by her previous failed marriage.
