Chapter Fifty: I’m jealous

Tillie

Jason opened the door to the house, leading us out of the garage and into a kitchen. Kitchen was

putting mildly. This looked like an industrial kitchen like you would see at any restaurant.

The marble counters gleamed in the soft, warm lights that hung from the ceiling. Appliances lined the

back of the counters and everything looked clean and neat. The soft scent of lemon scent cleaner hung

in the air, beneath that there was something else. Something that reminded me of Jason, Travis, and

Ryan. I couldn’t put my finger on it and it wasn’t a bad smell. Just something that made me feel at

ease.

“This is our kitchen. Would you like anything? Ryan will be here soon with food, but I could fix you a

snack or something?” Jason said, stepping deeper into the room. He walked over to the stainless steel

fridge, opening one of the doors, and looking inside.

“No, I can wait.”

Jason closed the door to the fridge, turning to look at me. “How about I show you the rest of the house,

then?”.

“Sounds good. I mean, it seems like a lot of house.” I said, trying to fit back a smirk. I had never been in

a home that was this big and I still couldn’t even imagine what it was like to live here.

“You’ll get used to it soon enough.” Jason moved closer to me. Taking my hand into his, he pulled me

towards an arched doorway.

“Used to it. How much time do you think I’ll be spending here? I’ve got my own apartment and I work.”

“Kitten, you’re my mate. I hope that you’ll be spending a lot of time with me and the others.” Jason said,

guiding me down the hallway

The floor was a dark polished wood and the walls were painted a deep green, scones lined the wall

casting everything into a dim light. There was a black figure at the end of the hallway. It was low to the

ground and for a moment I thought it was a large dog. I gripped Jason’s hand tighter.

That was no dog, that was a wolf.

Its honey-colored eyes shone in the darkness, making my heart beat faster. I tried to pull my hand

away from Jason’s but he gripped my fingers tighter. Everything in me was telling me to run, that this

beast would kill me.

“Tillie, it’s okay,” Jason said. His voice was low and I could feel something sweer over my skin. A

soothing pressure that wrapped me up like a blanket sinking deep into my bones. “This is one of my

pack.”

Llet out a shaking breath, stepping forward. Jason was with me and I knew that he wasn’t going to let

anything happen to me. The wolf padded closer to us, shaking out its dark fur. The beast watched me

with eyes that were different from the ones that I had seen at the zoo or in pictures. There was an

intelligence there an almost calculating look as it watched me.

“It’s a wolf.” I said as the great beast stopped in front of me. It was bigger than a normal wolf. Its fur

was so dark.

“Her name is Mira.” Jason said.

The wolf let out a garbled sound, almost like she was trying to talk to us.

“Hello, Mira.”

“Mira, this is Tillie. My mate.” Jason said, giving my hand a squeeze. Mira dipped her head, tilting her

neck to the side. She made the same sound as before.

“Mira says that’s nice to meet you, Tillie.”

“Oh, it’s um, nice to meet you too, Mira.” I said, feeling shocked. I didn’t know how Jason was able to

understand what she was saying Maybe it had something to do with her being part of his pack.

grouched down, looking at her and she sat down. Watching me with those honey colored eyes that

reminded me of marbles that! had as a kid She let out another one of those strange sounds and Jason

chuckled.

Thanks, can I, is it okay if I pet her?” I asked. “Or is that rude or something? I don’t want to offend her.”

Mira leaned forward, bumping her head against my shoulder and letting out a little yip.

“She’s not offended, she said go ahead.”

Treached my hand up, brushing it across her side. Her fur was soft, not at all like I thought it would be.

In the darkened hallway her fur looked coarse, but beneath my hand it was almost like a thick downy

texture.

‘This is so cool.”

“It is pretty cool.” Jason said from behind me and I felt a warm feeling in my chest.

Mira tilted her head to the side, leaning into my touch before she stood up. I moved closer to Jason,

watching the big wolf walk around us towards the kitchen.

“That was a wolf.” I said, leaning back on my heels to look up at Jason.

“Mmm, there are quite a few here.” Jason’s lips twitched into a smile. He lifted his hand up, trailing it

through my hair.

“A wolf.” I said, still in amazement.

“Not that I don’t like you on your knees like this kitten. But you should stand up.” Jason squattéd down,

grabbing my hand and pulling me up to stand.

“Sorry, I’m just-” I closed my eyes, slowly opening them again. “That was a wolf and you said her name

was Mira.”

“Mira Torres, she makes an amazing brownie.” Jason said and I couldn’t help but giggle.

“She’s a wolf.”

“She’s a shifter, kitten.” Jason said.

‘Who makes brownies.” | giggled again, unable to hold it in.

“They’re really good.” Jason gave my hand a tug, pulling me down the hallway. “I’m a little jealous.”

“Why?” I asked as we walked, passing many closed heavy looking wooden doors.

“Well, it’s not really me that’s jealous. It’s my wolf.” Jason said and I stopped.

“Your wolf?” I asked and he turned to look back at me.

‘Yeah, he wanted to be the first one you saw.” He shrugged, the tops of his cheeks turned red at his

confession.

It was cute and made me like him even more than I already did. His phone chimed again and he let out

a long sigh before pulling it out of his pocket and looking at the screen.

“Ryan’s home. Let’s head back to the kitchen to eat and then we’ll show you around.”

I nodded, letting him pull me back into the kitchen.
