This matter couldn’t be discussed any further. The more they talked, the more Anderson might read into it.
Mayra’s feet were bound up with gauze. As she got up from the window. seat, she stuffed the half– eaten biscuit into Anderson’s hand. “You’re you, and Gordon is Gordon.”
An unknown emotion flickered in Anderson’s eyes. He thought of one thing. in his mind but said another, “Is this biscuit bad?”
Wearing oversized slippers, Mayra walked without difficulty, and her feet weren’t hurting. “It’s too sweet. I don’t like it. Andy, let’s go downstairs for food. I
Mayra descended the stairs while Anderson followed behind. By the time they reached the ground floor, the biscuit in his hand had disappeared.
Anderson had already finished that half– piece of biscuit. Mayra was always like this. Though she didn’t like the food, she couldn’t bear to throw it away since she knew what it felt like to be hungry. So, she always gave Anderson whatever she couldn’t finish eating.
Even though he didn’t enjoy some of the food she gave him, he would
finish it every time. Over time, Mayra got used to doing this.
During dinner, there was plenty of food on the table to ensure Mayra ate enough. The dishes served today were all to her taste.

“This way, we can ensure the mansion stays clean and they won’t disturb Ms. Sadler. What do you think, Mr. Anderson?”
Anderson, clad in a black shirt with a deep red vest over it, stood by the floor–to–ceiling window with a cigarette in his hand.
“I won’t interfere with the affairs of the Barlow mansion. You’ve been with the Barlow family for so many years. You should know what to do.”
As he extinguished the half– smoked cigarette in his hand, he looked sharply at Julia. “And you should also know what you should say and what you shouldn’t. Right, Julia?”
Frowning, Julia earnestly said, “Mr. Anderson, you shouldn’t have brought her back.”
