Chapter 142

Julia, who had worked for the Barlow family for many years, could easily identify the expensive brands by looking at the logos on the shopping bags. She could tell the price of the items too.

The prices of these things were at least in the seven–figure range.

The vintage telephone on the quiet living room table rang.

Julia answered the call. “Madam Sonia.”

Sonia asked, “Where’s Anderson? Let me speak to him.”

Julia replied with difficulty, “Mr. Anderson is not at home tonight.

Only Ms. Sadler is here. Maybe she knows his whereabouts. Shall I ask her?”

“What a useless brat! How can he not be around when Isabel is hospitalized? What is he up to? He’s going to be the death of me. Isabel wouldn’t be in the hospital if it weren’t for him!”

“How about I give Mr. Anderson a call? This is a significant matter.”

Julia’s voice was full of concern as if she genuinely regarded Isabel as the future Mrs. Barlow. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

“Has that ill–mannered Mayra moved in with Anderson?”

Julia confirmed, saying, “Yes, Madam Sonia. Don’t worry, I’m keeping an eye on things and won’t let her misbehave. Mr. Anderson is well aware of the boundaries.”

Mayra wiped her face and came out of the bathroom just in time to hear Sonia’s vigorous and angry voice.

Isabel was adept at winning hearts. She had been chosen as the Barlow family’s daughter–in–law from a young age. Her manners and demeanor were impeccable, and she was a quick thinker, having been

personally taught by the Barlow family.

From Sonia to all the Barlow family’s maids, everyone liked the future Mrs. Barlow.

Mayra pretended not to hear the rest of the conversation.

Just as she was about to bring the things she bought to her room, Julia slapped her hand away. “Ms. Sadler! Now that you’re living with Mr. Anderson, you must follow the rules even though you don’t bear the Barlow family name.

“Anything you want to buy must be reported to me first, and then I’ll inform Mr. Anderson. You can only purchase the items once Mr.

Anderson gives his approval.

“Naturally… this rule doesn’t apply to the future Mrs. Barlow.”

Mayra had no idea about this rule when she was with the Barlow family in her previous life.

She retorted, “These are gifts for Andy. On what grounds are you withholding them?”

“Because I raised Mr. Anderson myself. I’ve been living in the Barlow family for many years, and even Madam Sonia respects me.

“Mr. Anderson has only been away for one day, and you’ve already dropped the pretense. You even crafted a scenario to stay close to

him!

“Ms. Sadler, this act has been used long before. Others might not be able to see through it, but your innocent act doesn’t work on me.

“I’ll report the extra money spent to Madam Sonia and let her decide. The jewelry from Emerald Pavilion starts at seven figures. Where did you get the money, Ms. Sadler?”

Mayra looked at her calmly and sneered. “I stole it. Go ahead and call the police if you dare!”

“Ms. Sadler, do you think I won’t? As long as I’m here, no outsider will get a penny from the Barlow family.

“This is three million dollars worth of items! According to the law, stealing from Mr. Anderson’s bank account will land you in jail for a long time.”

They treated her like a thief. As long as she was at the Barlow mansion, Mayra would feel like a prisoner every day, constantly monitored and watched by others.

They were afraid that she, an outsider, might covet the Barlow family’s money.

“In consideration of your parents being Mr. Anderson’s saviors, I won’t report this to Madam Sonia or Mr. Anderson if you confess and return

the stolen bank card.

“Ms. Sadler, I understand you had no parental guidance growing up, but you shouldn’t resort to theft. If your parents know you’re doing this at such a young age, how heartbroken would they be?”
