Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks

My Billionaire Family 496

Seeing the situation, Cherise took two quick steps back, acting as though it had nothing to do with her.

Morris, however, furrowed his brows in displeasure.

Indeed, he was somewhat irritated. Setting aside the fact that he was being ignored, what really bothered him was how Hank had suddenly stepped between him and Cherise. It made him feel uneasy. Morris cleared his throat twice. "If you have something to say, say it. Don't stand so close to me

His voice was stern, with a hint of disdain and mild reprimand. Hank froze for a moment, standing awkwardly and looking guilty.novelbin

Cherise, noticing Morris' expression, didn't approach. Her first impression of Hank had been ambiguous, and she wanted to see how Hank would handle the situation next.

Hank stood there, head lowered, before slowly raising it to look at Morris. "Mr. Chivers, do you not like what I did? I'm sorry if I upset you.

"I just got a fittle too excited. I'll be more careful next time. Please don't let me ruin your mood for the day. It's not worth it."

Nearby, Leo, who was talking to Hugh under a tree, overheard Hank and couldn't help but mutter, "Ugh... do all the young guys these days know how to put on such a show?"

Morris didn't say anything, his hand gripping the car door handle as he pointed at Hank. "This is the last time. And don't interrupt when I'm talking to Cherise."

He quickly opened the car door, waved at Cherise, and then got in.

Cherise, standing at the back, couldn't help but chuckle lightly and waved her hand toward Morris.

As the car pulled away, Hank turned to Cherise. "Ms. Leach, do you think Mr. Chivers is really upset?"

Cherise shrugged. "Maybe."

Hank looked suddenly anxious. "Oh no... what should I do?"

Cherise turned toward the building and said as she walked, "He just doesn't like people standing too close to him. And next time, don't ignore him."

She said this as she walked further away.

Hank, watching Cherise go, turned to Hugh, who was still standing nearby, and said, "But I really didn't mean to ignore Mr. Chivers."

Later that afternoon, after two traditional medicine practical classes, as arranged with Hank the day before, a few of them waited in the parking lot, ready to head to the orphanage where Hank had lived for years. While Cherise was in class, Hugh had prepared a lot of things and swapped for a business car.

The items included gifts Cherise had organized, new clothes, fruits, toys, books, milk, and other daily necessities.

Jean and Zander, who were accompanying them, had also prepared a lot.

After thanking them profusely, Hank got into the business car that Hugh had brought, and they set off.

The drive was short, mostly through the outskirts, and in less than 10 minutes, they arrived at the entrance of Charity Orphanage.

When they got out of the car and stood at the entrance, their first impression of the orphanage was that it looked small and run-down.

Jean, who was behind them, couldn't help but exclaim, "This environment is really tough."

Indeed, the orphanage was a small, low building, barely covering any ground, with a yard made of shabby bricks.

The exterior of the small house was visibly peeling in many places.

If it weren't for the rusty sign that said "Charity Orphanage" hanging on the gate and a brightly colored banner welcoming Cherise, they would have thought they'd come to the wrong place..

Cherise, understanding immediately, remembered what Hank had told her about wanting to enter a competition to win a prize that would help with the orphanage's renovations.

She instantly understood.

After everyone had unloaded the gifts from the car, Hank shouted loudly toward the inside of the orphanage, "Maeve, guys, come out, Ms. Leach is here... and two people from Betrico University's Traditional Medicine Department are with her!" As Hank's voice echoed, there was a loud noise from inside the building.

Then, with a creak, the door opened, and a weathered middle-aged woman stepped out with five scrawny children of varying sizes.

Cherise didn't need to guess who the woman leading the group was. It was Maeve, the head of the orphanage.

Maeve quickly approached them. "Hello, Ms. Leach. You're finally here. And you brought so many friends with you. Welcome! We were just inside getting ready and didn't hear the car arrive. Sorry about that."

Cherise nodded toward Maeve and extended her hand. "Maeve, hi, I'm Cherise. Sorry for the disturbance. We brought some gifts, I hope the children like them."

Maeve, looking at Cherise's kind expression, reached out both hands to warmly shake hers. "I didn't expect you to be so beautiful. You look like an angel! Thank you for bringing so many gifts. Honestly, our basic needs are fine, but we really appreciate it." Cherise shook her head. "These gifts are for the children. No need to thank us."

After Cherise finished speaking, Hank shouted again. "Guys, come over and see what Ms. Leach and the others brought you. There's a lot!"

Four of the children excitedly ran over to the pile of gifts, looking around eagerly..

But one small, shy girl walked up to Cherise, tugged at her skirt, and looked up at her. "Ms. Leach?"

Cherise bent down with a sweet smile. "What's wrong? Aren't you going to pick out something you like?"

The little girl shyly smiled, then spoke softly. "I have a secret to tell you, but you have to listen closely and not let Hank hear."

"Oh, what's the secret? Go ahead, and tell me," Cherise said patiently, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

The little girl leaned in and whispered in Cherise's ear, "Hank's really good. He can use computers, heal people, and even fight.

"He once made a lot of money by clicking on things on the computer, so we never went hungry. But I think he's spent all the money on doctoring us, so now he has to make more."
