Return of the Bad Boy Alpha Chapter 17
Naomi
I laid on top of Magnus's chest for a few minutes after he fell asleep. I listened to his steady breathing The more time I spent with him, the more I fell for him. I am not tired, so I sit up on the bed. I hate to him one more time and leave a note for him. I decided to explore the compound for a bit. I am curiou 'You should let him mark you,' Ruby speaks up. 'That way, everyone will know you are Magnus's mate.' I don't reply to my wolf, but she does have a point. 'Maybe I'll let him mark me tonight if he is feeling 'That works for me. Perhaps you should mark him too,' She suggests.
I walk out of the apartment and downstairs. The building is a maze of different rooms and various pe pair is playing pool. They all look at me when I enter the room. I freeze for a moment and then start to He is a tall hand brown-haired man with brown eyes. "Hey, beautiful. You can come sit and watch som "N-no, I was just-" I pause. "It's okay." I try walking around him, but he blocks my path.
"You are new around here, aren't you. I'm Matthew Cyrus, and you?" He smiles, and I have to look away Ruby growls in my head, but I ignore her. "I'm Naomi Monroe."
"What's a beautiful woman like you doing roaming alone?" Matthew asks while stepping closer to me. I open my mouth to say something but a low growl makes me jump. "Cyrus!" I hear Dulce shout. I glan "What's up, Lieutenant?" Matthew looks at Dulce. "I was just welcoming, Naomi here."
Dulce glances at me, and I step away from Matthew. "Well, welcome her without touching her, or you r "I don't see a mark on her neck," Matthew argues.
"Mark or no mark, she is Major Bowie's mate." Dulce snaps.
Matthew's eyes go wide. "Is that true?" He asks me, and I nod. He throws his hand up. "Sorry." He mum Dulce folds her arms and huffs. "What are you doing down here?"
s heartbeat. I stroked his cheek, and a soft smile spread onto his face.

to see her rushing towards us with a look of anger on her face.
e your hands."
nd walks away from us.
"Magnus is sleeping, and I didn't feel like sitting around waiting for him to wake up. So I came down here to look around," I tell her.
"Be careful. There are a lot of lonely unmated males around here. You are quite attractive, so they may have a hard time keeping their hands to themselves," She tells me.
"You think I am attractive?" I feel self-conscious and look away from her.
Dulce chuckles. "Yeah, you are easy to look at. Jo thinks so too."
"I guess I'll take that as a compliment." I laugh.
"You should. I don't hand them out like candy." Dulce steps into the room. "Listen up!" She bellows, and everyone in the room stands at attention. She hooks a thumb at me. "This here is Naomi Monroe. She is Major Bowie's mate." Dulce announces. "You may speak with her but no touching. Am I clear?" There is a soft murmur from the crowd. "AM I CLEAR?!" She yells louder.
"YES, LIEUTENANT!" They all shout back.
"Good. At ease." She says. "You may go back to your activities." Dulce turns to me. "Are we still on for pizza later?"
I nod. "Yes, I look forward to it," I tell Dulce before she walks away. I stand in the same spot for a moment before leaving the common room and continuing my exploration of the building. I find myself in a dining hall that resembles a school cafeteria. I continue and eventually find a library. I go in and walk up and down the aisles, running my hand over the books. I find the history section, pick an ancient book, carry it to a comfy chair, and curl up and crack open the book. It's about the early history of the kingdom and is written in an older style of English, but I understand it just fine.
I don't know how long I get lost in the book before my legs go numb, and I stretch them out and yawn. I set the book on an end table and stand up to stretch. I miss that I am not the only person in the library. "Hey, Naomi," Matthew's voice makes me jump.
I turn to see him standing nearby. "Oh, hi, Matthew," I say to him. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
"Sorry if I startled you. Most people around here aren't so easy to sneak up on," He laughs. "So, what pack do you hail from?"
I look him up and down. He is smiling at me while his eyes sparkle. 'He is not your mate. Ruby growls in my head.
"I am from Ghost River. The same pack as Magnus," I tell Matthew. "We grew up together."
"Really? And you just now discovered that you two are mates," Matthew circles me and looks at the book I had been reading. He picks it up and thumbs through it. "Damn, how did you read this?"
I shrug. "I am the Archive keeper back at Ghost River, so I know how to read several different languages," I tell Matthew.
He sets the book down and looks at me. "So, you are a genius type, huh?"
"I guess," I reply. I pick up the book. "I should get back to Magnus before he wakes up," I start to walk around Matthew only to have him block me.
He leans down and gets close to my face. "Figures the major would get such a beautiful and intelligent mate. Guys like me are lucky if we get mates that can read," He snorts. He reaches for me, but I back away. "Please don't touch me."
"I was just going to-" Matthew lowers his hand. "Sorry, Naomi. I just want to be friends with you."
"It doesn't seem like you want me to be your friend," I breathe out. "Excuse me." I set the book on a desk and rushed out of the library. I hear Matthew following me, but I don't look back at him. 'Shit, now how do I get back to the apartment?' I say to myself. 'Follow your nose. Ruby suggests.
I sniff the air trying to find Magnus's scent. I faintly smell spaghetti, but it leads me to the cafeteria. Matthew is still on my heels, so I don't stop moving. I pass the common room and recognize where I am going. Matthew keeps following me, and I try my best to ignore his heavy breathing. The scent of spaghetti becomes stronger, and I look up to see Magnus walking out of the elevator. He is dressed in jeans and a tank top.
He sees me and smiles while I rush into his arms. I bury my face in his chest. "Hi, Baby," He kisses the top of my head. "What are you up to, Cyrus?" I hear Magnus ask Matthew while I keep my face buried in his chest.
"Oh, nothing, Major," Matthew replies. "I was just heading back to my duties, sir."
"Very well," Magnus responds.
"It's good to see you are getting better, sir." Matthew sputters.
"Thank you, Cyrus," Magnus says to him.
I listen as Matthew walks away, and I pull away from Magnus. He runs his hand down my cheek. "I woke up, and you weren't in the apartment."
"I'm sorry. I-I wasn't tired. S-so I came down here to explore." I sigh.
He laughs. "That's okay, Baby. Did you have fun?"
"I found the library," I respond, and Magnus chuckles.
"So that's a yes." He leans down to kiss me.
I should tell him about Matthew, but I am distracted by the kiss. I lean into him, and the kiss deepens. I wrap my arms around his neck and kick up one of my feet. He pulls away from me with a low growl. "Sorry, I had to stop before Kairos tried to take you right here," He chuckles.
I look into his emerald green eyes. "I want you to mark me," I blurt out.
He lifts an eyebrow. "Really?"
I nod. "Yes."
"I was waiting until you felt you were ready for that."
"I'm ready. I want you to mark me tonight," I state, and he smirks.
He places his hand on my neck and leans in. "Yes, Naomi. I will mark you tonight."
We hold the kiss for a minute. Someone clears their throat, and we turn to Dulce. She is staring at us with her arms folded. "Should you be up and walking around?" She asks Magnus.
"Probably, not," Magnus replies. "I feel fine."
Dulce rolls her eyes and glances at me. "Has Matthew Cyrus given you any more trouble?" She asks.
"Trouble?" Magnus asks.
"I caught Cyrus touching Naomi earlier," Dulce tells him.
A low growl escapes Magnus's throat. "Did you kick his a*s?"
"No, I just told him and the others not to touch Naomi," Dulce replies.
"Good." Magnus sighs. "I should have warned you about the unmated males around here. They are good guys, but they see a beautiful female and act like idiots."
"Dulce told me about them," I mumble.
"I was told that Cyrus was spotted following you all over the building," Dulce says to me.
I start to tremble and look at the ground. "He, uh, came into the library and started talking to me. Then when I tried to leave, he blocked me and tried touching me. I rushed out of the library, and he followed me." Magnus growls and wraps his arms around me. "Dulce, find Cyrus and bring him to my office."
"What are you going to do to him?" I ask.
"Put him in his place," Magnus responds. "Dulce."
"Yes, sir," Dulce replies and walks away.
"Let me take you back up to our apartment," He starts to pull me towards the elevator.
"I'm sorry," I whisper.
He kisses the top of my head. "It's not your fault, Naomi." We get back to the apartment, and I sit on the couch. "Wait here, why I go have a talk with Mr. Cyrus." He hobbles towards the door, and I can tell he is in pain. "Magnus, you should be lying down." I get up from the couch.
"I'm fine, Naomi. I have suffered worse pain than this. Just wait here while I go take care of my soldier," He pats my shoulder. "Maybe you can order the pizza for our little get together tonight, alright?" He leans down and kisses me. "I won't be down there for long." "Okay," I say quietly. "Be careful," I tell him. He nods his head and limps out of the apartment. I sit on the couch and feel horrible that I caused this situation. 'I should have just sat here and watched TV!
'Don't beat yourself up, Naomi, Ruby chimes in. 'You did nothing wrong!'
I turn on the TV and flip through channels until I find a documentary on the Science Channel to watch. I don't pay attention to the TV and just stare at it. I hope Magnus doesn't kill Matthew, but I also want Matthew to stop trying to touch me. I turn my attention to the TV to await Magnus's return.
