Chapter 200 Choose
Standing at the door, Jacob furrowed his brows. Not long ago, he had arranged for Avery to undergo a
full-body check-up. She should be fine.
However, the amount of blood flowing from Avery seemed to exceed that of a normal nosebleed. It
looked horrifying.
Seeing his worried look, Lily came to her senses and said, "Don't worry. Avery liked to feign illness
since she was little."
Layla chimed in, "Mom, I never expected my sister to be so scheming, trying to seek attention in this
way."
"Yeah, she was bad-natured at birth. She becomes so arrogant because her father has spoiled her."
Lily turned to look at Jacob and continued, "Jacob, you must not be deceived by her. She has always
been in good health. How could it be possible for her to have a nosebleed from just a light touch on her
face? I didn't even touch her nose."
"Alright, enough. How could a nosebleed be faked?" Ben cut in.
"What can't be faked these days?" Lily retorted.
"I'm wondering if Avery is really your daughter," Jacob said, coldly staring at her.
Lily was taken aback. "Of course."
"I thought Layla was your biological daughter." Jacob's words were so ironic that Lily couldn't maintain
her composure and didn't know how to respond.
Just as she was about to speak, the door lock turned, and Avery appeared at the door.
There was a large patch of mottled bloodstains on her chest due to her inability to dodge quickly
enough, and her nose was temporarily plugged with tissue.
Her thin face looked even paler now, and she looked as if she were about to fall at any second.
Feeling no guilt, Lily asked, "I didn't touch your nose just now. Did you pretend?"
Her mother questioned her instead of expressing her concern. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Avery didn't want to say a word. She pushed Lily aside and walked outside.
This kind of maternal love was something she shouldn't have expected from the beginning.
Jacob grabbed her wrist and said, "Wait. I'll have someone take you to the hospital."
Avery's steps faltered slightly as she looked at Jacob's concerned face. Perhaps in the past, she would
have been very happy, but now she only felt endless disgust.
Fundamentally, Jacob and Lily were the same kind of people, with no difference at all.
He couldn't give her anything, yet he pretended to care.
She stood upright and looked seriously at Jacob.
"What if I want you to accompany me?"
As soon as these words were spoken, it was like a heavy drumbeat with a tremendous sound.
Jacob frowned. "Avery, don't make a fuss."
Avery still had a strong smell of blood in her throat. She smiled, asking, "Jacob, what if I want you to
choose between Layla and me? Who will you choose?"
Ben stared intently at Jacob, and Alberto had appeared at a certain point.
He forcefully struck the floor with his cane. "That's exactly what I want to say. Jacob, are you going to
leave with her or stay? Old love and new love, you always have to make a choice."
Jacob finally understood that Avery's temporary obedience from a few days ago had concealed her true
intentions at this moment.
Ben also reminded him, "Think carefully before you answer. If you choose Avy, I will announce the
cancellation of your marriage to everyone."
"Dad!" Layla stomped her feet. Only she knew the truth, and she didn't want her efforts to go to waste.
"Shut up! The marriage hasn't even begun, and he's vacillating. If you marry him, who knows what it
will be like? Both your dad and I are doing this for your own good."
Alberto continued, "Alright. With everyone bearing witness here, I want a definite answer from you
today. If you choose Avery, I won't make things difficult for you. A real man should take responsibility.
But if you continue to entangle with my granddaughter after choosing her, don't blame me for being
hard on you."
All eyes were on Jacob. Who would he choose?
