"Deal."

At first, Avery thought he agreed too quickly, but when she pushed open the small door and prepared

to find Ethan, she was amazed by the scenery before her.

The landscape was beautiful, with a clear blue sky, azure sea, and lush green mountains. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

It was an island surrounded by the sea as if it had been abandoned by the world.

So he didn't need to threaten her because there was no signal there. She could scream all she wanted,

but no one would hear her.

As long as they had no intention of harming Ethan, Avery didn't plan on doing anything dangerous.

In the instant the wooden door was pushed open, Ethan was crawling on the ground, chasing a little

cat.

His clothes were already dusty, but he looked extremely happy, giggling.

He made sounds like "meow".

"This child doesn't have the temperament of a young master at all. He's quite obedient. I really like

him."

Avery said, already rushing towards Ethan with open arms. Ethan happily called out, "Mommy!"

Carl was puzzled. "Is this really not your child?"

Avery felt a bit sad and said, "He's young, so he calls anyone 'mommy.'"

"That's not necessarily true. The nanny tried to feed him because she was afraid he would be hungry,

but he didn't even spare her a glance."

Avery recalled that the child seemed to have called her "mommy" the first time they met.

She wondered if her own child, who died before he was born, had somehow been reincarnated into

him, which explained their close bond.

Avery held the child tighter and kissed his cheek twice, saying, "As long as you're safe, everything's

fine."

"Don't worry. We never mistreat him. I couldn't even bring myself to eat the little cake I stole; I gave it to

him instead," Carl reassured.

Avery had a good understanding of their living conditions. The island had no basic infrastructure, such

as electricity, internet, or signal reception.

They only had solar panels that they purchased from the outside world, providing limited electricity for

lighting at night.

Fortunately, the island was rich in resources, including freshwater sources. The few residents there

lived off the land and relied on natural resources for their livelihoods.

They didn't even take the small pendant hanging around Ethan's neck.

These people were actually kind-hearted.

While she was contemplating, Ethan suddenly blushed, and Avery, who had never taken care of a child

before, worriedly asked, "What's wrong?"

Ethan seemed to exert force, and the next second, she heard a "plop" sound. Avery felt warmth in her

palm and smelled an unpleasant odor.

"Oh, the little guy has soiled himself." Carl pinched his nose, causing his face mask to deform.

Lois came out beside them, saying, "Miss, give him to me. I'll clean him up."

Subconsciously, Avery didn't want to hand over the child. "I'll do it."

Lois poured hot water into a basin. It was Avery's first time bathing a child, and she fumbled clumsily.

However, Ethan didn't become impatient; instead, he happily lay on her leg, laughing.

After washing, Lois used a cloth cut from clothes to dry Ethan and put a diaper on him.

Lois, in her fifties with white hair, rough fingers, and wrinkled face, smiled kindly and slightly awkwardly,

saying, "Miss, please don't mind. We don't have those fancy things from the city here. We can only use

diapers as a substitute."

Carl had already taken off his face mask, revealing a handsome face. He earnestly explained, "Lois

was afraid of hurting the little guy, so she even cut up her own warm clothes. She only has one set,

which Frank gave her on her birthday."

Avery looked at the faded floral diaper that had been washed numerous times and felt a mix of

emotions for a moment.
