Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 188: Equal Rights

Asha's POV

My chest heaved as I entered the confines of my bedroom, my lips drawn back in a feral snarl.

I couldn't believe that my wise and powerful father would be tricked by that woman. Even my brother was manipulated by her. How could they not see that woman has evil plans going on in her mind?

She lied about everything. She acted like she did not want to have anything to do with us, but the moment she was presented with an opportunity to become a formal part of this family, she did not even hesitate to say yes. How could my father fail to see through that woman? Even if she was his daughter, we cannot just allow her to trick us into getting what she wants.

She had only been staying in our Pack for two months, but she had already managed to convince my father to make her our Pack's acting Beta.

Now, she had finally convinced everyone to officially welcome her into the family.

Astrid is clearly trying to make her way to the top. If this continues, she might even steal the Alpha position from my brother.

My eyes turned ablaze with fury as I snatched everything within my reach-books, pillows, clothing - and hurled them onto the floor as the intensity of my rage cackled inside the room.

My brother, instead of siding with me, he sided with that woman instead. My brother is too naive. Isn't he afraid that Astrid would turn into a threat in the future?

My arm hung in mid-air when someone suddenly knocked. I dropped my hand, my chest still heaving as I stared at the mess I'd made.

"Asha, can we talk?" I heard my brother's voice at the other side of the door.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

I didn't answer. I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone. However, he still twisted my door open and entered without my permission.

I was so deep in my anger earlier that I forgot to lock my door close.

"Asha," my brother mentioned my name carefully.

I whirled around, ready to unleash my fury on him for entering inside without my permission, but when I saw my brother's face etched with concern, the fire in my veins momentarily died down. "Asha, what's going on?" he asks, his voice gentle but laced with worry as he surveys the mess that surrounds me. "What happened?"

I held my breath and pursed my lips as I glared at him. I wanted to lash out, to scream at him for not taking my side and accepting Astrid into our family so easily, but the words got caught in my throat, strangled by the very anger that brought me to this point.

"Why don't you just leave me alone and go to that new sister of yours?!" I snapped at him and rolled my eyes.

My brother's brows furrowed, and for a moment, I thought he was going to yell back to tell me I was being unreasonable. But instead, he steps closer, reaching out a hand to rest on my shoulder. "Asha, why don't we just sit down first?" My brother answered calmly as he guided me to my bed.

Feeling guilty for his kindness, I silently sat on the bed beside him with my head turned away, not willing to talk to him.

"Asha, I know this is hard for you,"

Andros spoke softly. "Astrid's presence is a big change and it's okay to feel angry about it, but it's not right for you to hurl insults at Astrid and throw a tantrum in front of our father. Destroying your room isn't going to make things better either."

I want to pull away, to tell him that he just doesn't understand. As I turned to face him with sharpness in my eyes, I paused when I saw the genuine concern and compassion in the way he looked at me. Unlike me, he had already accepted Astrid as his sister. He even took her side while knowing what I felt against her.

"I don't like her. I just can't accept her," I finally confessed to him. "She already had our father wrapped around her finger and now she had won your heart too." Hot tears stung the back of my eyes.

My brother used to have my back no matter what, but just earlier, he took someone else's side and tried to rein me down for the first time.

Andros squeezed my hand in his as

he tried to calm me down. "I'm sorry

that I made you upset, Asha. No matter what you will always be my little sister. It will always be my job to protect you and be there for you," Andros spoke softly as he stared straight through my eyes.

The tears that I've been holding back finally fell out of my eyes when I heard his response.

"Even if I have a thousand sisters out there, you will always be my little sister that I grew up with," my brother adds, fully winning my heart.

Unable to hold it back anymore, I jumped into his arms and hugged him, then he hugged me back.

"Stop crying Asha and stop trying to talk father out of his decision. Astrid is still our sister by blood." My brother whispered over my shoulder.

I pulled back when I heard his words. I shook my head as I locked gazes with him. "Even if she is our sister, we do not have the same mother as her. Our mother is the Luna of this Pack, she shouldn't share equal rights as us."
