Chapter 228 A Small Act Of Revenge

“Stop meddling in my affairs from now on, and there’s no need for you to pretend to care

either.”

Eric’s gaze fell on a nearby bucket used for washing paintbrushes. Soaking inside it was a mobile phone, its battery already removed and swollen from the water.

He rose and walked over to the curtains. With a swift motion, he drew them open, letting the light flood in. Eileen, who hadn’t seen the sun for several days, shielded her eyes from the blinding light, squinting. “What are you doing? Close the curtains!” she suddenly snapped.

“You have one hour to clean yourself up, then you’re coming back with me.”

“Eric, have you lost your mind? Why should I go back? That place is not my home anymore. It’s your home with Vera. And if my guess is correct, Sharon is also on your side, isn’t she? She has been secretly adding drugs to the milk I’ve been drinking all these

years.

The moment she saw him, she was reminded of those facts, those unbearable truths. Eileen dropped the paintbrush in her hand, her head throbbing painfully as she clutched her hair. She got up and walked to the table, swallowing several pills that could suppress her emotions. With reddened eyes, she looked at him. “I beg you, don’t come here anymore. I hate you, Eric! I hate you! You’ve ruined everything for me! You’ve tormented me like this!”

Without even bothering to put on her shoes, she rushed back to the room. With a forceful. bang, she shut the door.

Eric’s deep eyes were fixed on the tightly closed door. At this moment, he didn’t even know what he was thinking!

His mind was a tangled mess of jumbled thoughts and emotions.

Eileen returned to her room, curling up in her bed. She felt as if she was trapped in an abyss, unable to find her way out no matter how hard she tried.

Later, tired from crying, she wanted to sleep. She thought that a good sleep would make things better. Perhaps she could even dream of her mother in her sleep.

But ever since she lost her wallet and the photos inside it, Eileen hadn’t dreamed of her mother for a long time.

Eileen swallowed five of the pills she kept by her bedside. Nowadays, she could only rely on these methods to make herself feel a bit better.

This time, it seemed as if she had dreamt of her mother, and in the haze, she could also hear her mother’s voice.

<

She was dressed in a beige knitted dress, her hair neatly done up. Although her face was not clearly visible, she could feel the warmth of being held in her mother’s arms.

If sleeping meant being with her mother, Eileen wished she would never wake up for the rest

of her life.

Eric heard what sounded like a medicine bottle falling to the ground. He knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.

At that moment, the man forcefully kicked open the door to the room.

Upon entering, the sight of sleeping pills scattered all over the floor and the gloomy room. met his eyes. Without a second thought, Eric lifted the covers, picked up the person from the bed, and held them horizontally in his arms.

He brought Eileen to the bathroom before turning on the water. Cold water poured down from the showerhead, causing Eileen to shiver from the chill. She opened her eyes in a daze, only to see a multitude of overlapping figures.

Eric was half crouching, one arm wrapped around her as he tilted her forward. His fingers pried open her mouth, digging at the back of her throat. “Whatever you’ve eaten, spit it all

out.”

Eileen struggled weakly, eventually vomiting out the few pills she had managed to eat, along with some stomach acid. After dealing with this, Eric, who was a bit of a clean freak, casually tossed her into the large wooden tub. He then proceeded to give her a bath, using hot water to clean her from head to toe.

It was not like he hadn’t seen her body before, after all.

After drying her off completely, he carried her out of the bathroom.

“Cold…”

The man rummaged through the wardrobe, then brought out another quilt, covering her

with it.

Eric had gotten some vomit on him, so he didn’t smell good. Being a man who couldn’t tolerate the slightest filth, he took off his clothes, went to the bathroom, and took a shower.

As dusk fell, Eileen felt as if she was in a furnace.

Feeling uncomfortable, she turned over, only to feel as if her body was being pulled back. A hand was resting on her waist. At this moment, Eileen seemed to realize something. She turned and saw someone lying next to her, and neither of them was wearing anything.

Eileen was startled, and with a swift kick, she sent the man on the bed tumbling down.

THE

Thud!

Eileen rose from her bed, wrapping her body with the quilt, and reached over to switch on the bedside lamp.

After being kicked without any warning, Eric felt a sharp pain radiating from his tailbone.

eyes,

“You’re becoming more bold, huh?” The man stood up. In a fluster, Eileen averted her refusing to look at the ugly thing hanging between his legs. “Get dressed and leave,” she said.

Eric casually picked up the sheet from the floor, wrapping it around his lower body. His upper body, muscular and perfect, showcased his abs. Silently, he left the room and headed. for the living room.

I didn’t expect him to be so agreeable today.

Eileen quickly got out of bed, closed the door, and went to the wardrobe to get dressed.

She took a sleeping pill, and by the time it took effect, she had almost forgotten how Eric ended up in her bed.

The soundproofing of the room wasn’t good. A thought suddenly occurred to her, and she moved to the living room to finish the painting she had left incomplete.

A few days ago, she saw a notification about a painting competition and decided to sign up.

Today was the final day for submitting the draft of the artwork. At seven in the evening, representatives from the organizers would come to collect the drafts.

There was still an hour and a half left.

Eric was answering a call on the balcony. Eileen didn’t have time to bother with him. Having not eaten all day, she grabbed a piece of toast nearby. The painting was almost complete.

Luckily, she finished her painting in the last half hour.

Smoke wafted in from the window.

Unbeknownst to her, the man’s gaze was fixed on her painting. Although he didn’t understand art, he could still perceive that this painting was brimming with light and hope.

Eileen heard a knock at the door and assumed it must be someone from the event

She allowed the painting to dry before carefully rolling it up.

Upon reaching the door and opening it, she discovered Gavin standing there, holding a

paper bag.

Gavin wasn’t surprised when he saw her. “Ms. Eileen.”

“What brings you here?”

“I’m delivering clothes to Mr. Snow.”

Eileen extended her hand. “He’s unable to answer the door at the moment. Give them to me.”

Eric’s eyebrows raised slightly.

Gavin was taken aback, wondering when their relationship had changed again.

But in the next moment, Gavin realized he had been overthinking it. Eileen took the bag of clothes from him and nonchalantly tossed it from the third floor.

Gavin’s eyes widened. “You…”

Eileen didn’t say much. She grabbed the keys hanging by the door, took the painting, and left immediately.

They could take their time finding the clothes.

Just then, Eric emerged.

Gavin looked at the man, his upper body bare, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Doesn’t Mr. Snow despise Ms. Eileen? Why would he sleep with her?

“Where are my clothes?”

“Ms. Eileen threw them down. I’m going to retrieve them right away.”

Eric watched as Eileen disappeared down the corridor with the drawing in her hand, his gaze darkening.

As soon as Eileen descended the stairs, she bumped into a young man dressed in a Boundless Tech uniform. Eileen stopped him and inquired, discovering that he was a staff member of the event organizer.

The young man handed her a registration form for the competition. After completing it, she observed Gavin hastily descending the stairs, undoubtedly on his way to retrieve Eric’s clothes. This small act of revenge lifted her spirits considerably.

After filling out the form, Eileen went for a stroll in the vicinity.

In truth, she didn’t know where to go.
