Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 329

Naomi had her head down, but the tips of her ears had flushed pink, as though she was embarrassed at being stared at. Perhaps she was embarrassed at the meaning behind this meeting. Charles' heart leaped into his throat. All of a sudden, he was engulfed by an overwhelming feeling of joy that spread through his entire body.

Was Naomi nervous about meeting his family?

Charles smiled.

Wendy noticed Naomi lowering her head shyly and grew even more pleased at her. What a pleasant young lady! Charles had a great eye!

Wendy finally tore her gaze away from Naomi and turned to look at her son. Charles was grinning from ear to ear, sending another smile across Wendy's face. She glanced between Charles and Naomi, marveling at how great they looked together!

"Who is this, Charles?" she finally asked as she approached them.

Charles finally snapped out of his stupor and met his mother's gaze. However, Wendy's gaze was so intense and unnerving that he instinctively turned away and cleared his throat. "Mom, this is my friend, Naomi."

Then he turned to Naomi. "Naomi, this is my mother."

Naomi's racing heart finally settled when she heard Wendy's voice. She and Charles were just friends, so there was nothing to be afraid of. There was no telling what the future held; all she needed to focus on was the present.

Naomi gazed at Wendy and said, "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Ward."

Wendy was grinning so widely that her eyes had flattened into barely visible slits. She immediately grabbed hold of Naomi's hand and replied, "Such a pleasure to meet you, Naomi! Charles had mentioned that he would be bringing a friend over to visit his Grandma, and I had been wondering who it would be. It's such a pleasure to meet you, dear!"

The warmth of Wendy's touch spread through Naomi's entire body, and she was even more reassured by Wendy's kind words. "I'm so sorry to inconvenience you at such a time."

"Inconvenience us? No such thing! Come on in. Charles' grandmother has been itching to see him and finally meet his little friend!"

"Sure thing, Mrs. Ward."Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

With that, Wendy led Naomi toward the ICU, but while on the way, she kept introducing Naomi to Charles' relatives left and right. Despite being thrown into such an unexpected situation, Naomi took it in stride and behaved politely toward Charles' family.

The more time she spent with her, the more fond Wendy grew of this sensible young woman.

Charles followed them into the ICU, and he could not help feeling like he had brought a girlfriend home to meet his family instead of just an ordinary friend.

A feeling of reassurance crept into his heart. His family loved her.

For the first time ever, Charles wanted to marry Naomi and spend the rest of his life with her.

Unfortunately, the ICU did not allow

more than three visitors at a time, so only Naomi, Charles, and Wendy got to enter. The moment she stepped into the room, Naomi caught sight of the frail old lady lying on the bed with tubes of all shapes and sizes sticking out of her.

Naomi felt her chest tighten. The smile disappeared from Wendy's face and was replaced by a look of worry. "Charles' grandmother isn't doing too well. She's always been healthy and has been compliant to all her check-ups. Needless to say, we were all shocked when we found out what had happened."Tears brimmed in Wendy's eyes as she said this.
