Chapter 23
I don't know how, but Sasha was right. My power had returned. I could not let Adiran know this. "Actually, I may need to recover. If you could let me take my old room and the night to fully recover, we can do it at first light tomorrow. This will give you time to send the message." "Adrian smiled. Is that a yes." I didn't want to seem too eager, but I wanted to get away to link Vincent my plan. "I will do anything to keep Katie alive, but we will discuss the Dane issue later." I think this gave my uncle what he needed. He nodded and smiled. "Guards! Take her to her old room in the servant's quarters and make sure no one disturbs her. She will need all her power for the morning."
I was escorted back to my room. When I got there, Katie was waiting with food from the kitchen. I ate with her and reassured her that everything was fine, and I needed rest. As soon as she left, it was time to link Vincent.
I took a deep breath and focused on his smile, his dark hair, his muscles.. "Filli! Is that you?"
"Yes Vincent, it is. I have a plan and need help."
"I can't believe it is you. I thought you left me."
"Not by choice, but I don't have a lot of strength and need Sasha to heal. So, I need to make this quick."
"What do you mean heal? I will kill them."
"Vincent focus! My magic was spell bound. I am not sure how or who helped, but I have it back at least for now. Adrian still believes I need to be off the Dark Moon pack lands to use my power. This is our way out. I will link you before I shift to show you where we are." "Why do you need to use your magic?"
I was scared to tell him about my father. The rogues had killed many important people to him, most importantly Beth, John's sister and potentially his first intended mate.
"Filli please. I need to know how to prepare." Vincent begged or was it demanded? It is hard to tell over this magic link.
"OK but please don't interrupt, it will be hard to hear. It was for me." "Fillian just tell me."
"My father is alive and responsible for the rogue attacks..." I started.
"What!!" Vincent growled.
"Please, this is hard enough," I begged. "Sorry."
"He is also the true Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack. The current Luna is my aunt, and my uncle knew about me. He wants to use my powers tomorrow to kill my father. This will happen in the morning and if you could send a team to meet at the border where we parted, we will meet my father there. I need you to send a team for Katie. She will be with my uncle. He is using her for bait."
"Fillian, that is a lot to take in. I have a lot of questions, but yes to your plan. I will send Raegan and John for Katie. They are highly skilled, and Raegan can sense Katie's scent."
"Thank you, Vincent. I need to rest. Once I shift, I will be stronger. Good night and I hope this works."
"Good night, my love. I will get you and Katie back tomorrow."
With that, I shut off the link. I slunk down and let Sasha take over while I rested until I heard a light knock at the door. Thinking it was Katie, I slightly opened it and was pushed gently back to see my new cousin Alex.
"You are my cousin." I didn't know how to respond or what he was going to do, but I just gently nodded. "You are also the true leader of this pack or at least your father is." Alex just kept going. "How long did you know? No I don't think you did...Were you shocked too? Do you want to be Alpha or are you a royal or royal adjacent? Will you overthrow them or us? What was it about the Violet Moon that had you staying? Why haven't you left yet? I took down the rune, to give you your powers back."
"Alex," I whisper shouted. He stopped and looked at me.
"Are you going to kill me?" he looked so lost.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
"No. I really would like to kill no one if that was possible," I responded.
"We were/are so horrible to you and Dane for what he has done. What we let happen."
I waved my hand. "Alex, what did you mean you took the rune down?"
"After I left my dad's office, I was so mad. How can he not believe in me? I remember Dane talking about wanting a private space. He asked me for an area that the guards couldn't accidently come across, so I gave him one. I thought he had planned to take some girls there away from the pack. I was sort of glad he wanted to hide his failure." I winced.
"Not you. He was the failure, hurting his mate and getting rejected. I know now it was for the magic that bound you. It was a rune. I found it and destroyed it. I knew it might be my death, but who cares, my father was willing to give my spot over and didn't believe I could handle the truth. He is right. I am a terrible Alpha. You and Katie ran. Others have left as well. My rule as alpha has been a disaster."
"Alex." He looked up at me. "I don't think it is you. People fear your father, and are more scared of Dane. You are a bit of a pushover." He winced at these words. "I believe you have a good heart and people would follow you if you just led. My days here were terrible, still are, but you are here and not once did YOU hit me. You stood there and let it happen. Alex, you are Alpha, my cousin, and stronger than you think. If only you would stop allowing others to pick your path."
"I forgot you were smart." He smiled. "When we were kids you always knew how to get out of any situation. You also were the one who got us into most of them."
"I remember." I smiled meekly.
"Tomorrow can you be with Katie?" I asked. If it was Alex, maybe John and Reagan could find her easily. "She will be scared and need support. She doesn't trust anyone here."
He looked hurt. "Yes. Now you must sleep. I am sure you have a plan." He walked to the door. "Fillian," I nodded, "thank you for not killing me." He smiled.
"Well, no yet, my dear cousin, there is always tomorrow." He stood there with a gasp. I winked at him and quietly chuckled. He shook his head as he closed the door and was gone. "Do you believe him?" Shasha asked.
"I think I do, but not enough to tell him everything. He will not help us, but he may not stand in our way. Hopefully Reagan and John don't kill him tomorrow."
"Or hopefully they do so you don't." Now that was a thought. "Phase so I can heal you and we can rest."
I did as she said and fell into a deep sleep. I was woken up around midnight by the alerting howls of the guards. Dark Moon was being attacked. I linked Vincent. "Timeline is moved up. Dark Moon is being attacked."
"Filli, stay safe. We may not be there on time. Do not engage." Vincent was concerned. He had every right to be.
"Sasha, can you feel that?" I asked.
"Yes. Magic and dark are close. The rogues must have some warlocks or witches helping them. Smart as they don't know you have been bound."
"I can hear the wolves dying. We must help them." Quickly, I phased and Sasha took off to the border where a war was happening, and the wolves of the Dark Moon were losing.
