Chapter 624

What was going on? Why was that childish conversation in her dream almost identical to the words Lucas had said to her at the restaurant earlier that evening?

Or perhaps she had had this dream because of what he had said?

Thinking of this, Serenity could not help herself from frowning again, and the throbbing headache returned.

“What’s wrong?” she heard Jackson ask her. “Are you feeling unwell?”

“No,” she replied. “Just a headache.”

He raised his hand and gently pressed his warm fingertips on her torehead and temples, massaging her. He used just the right amount of strength, and it really did sonthe her a lot.

“Hetter now?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she nodded. “I’m feeling a little better now.”

||,

“Maybe I should take you to the doctor for an examination tomorrow,” he suggested, “just to find out what’s been causing your headache.”

“No, it’s fine. I think I’m only having a headache because I had a weird dream after hearing what Lucas said to me this evening.

“What did you say?” Jackson stopped massaging her abruptly. “What did Lucas say to you?”

“He came to the restaurant today.” Serenity explained. “I think he thought I was the woman he’s been looking for, and he said a lot of weird things to me, and then… just now, I had a dream where I saw two children talking to each other, and they were saying the same thing Lucas said to me earlier.”

Jackson’s face turned gloomy. He asked her, ‘What exactly happened in your dreamn?”

Serenity then recounted her dream to him and added, “I think I was influenced by Lucas’s words. That’s why I had such a drearm. He said 1 had said those words to him, but I don’t have any memory of it at all.”

“That’s only because you lost your memories of that day!’ Jackson silently thought to himself.

Back then, she had had a high fever and lost her memory of that day, completely forgetting everything that had happened. Jackson knew all this because when he sensed that Serenity might be the woman Lucas was searching for, he had hired some people to investigate the matter. It had taken them quite a while, but they had finally found out from the hospital records that she had been hospitalized at the time, and from the hospital files, they had also found out that she had lost her memory of that day.

It was only the memories of one single day. The woman beside him probably thought nothing of it. In fact, back then, she had. told everyone that she had no idea how she had gone missing that day, but seeing that the girl was fine, the adults had simply left in at that and investigated no further. But… to someone else, what was lost was not just the memories of one single day, but the long arduous search that had lasted twenty years!

If she had not lost her memories that day, perhaps she might still remember Lucas, and perhaps.. Lucas might have found her much earlier, and they might have ended up together a long time ago.

This was exactly why he was immensely grateful that she had lost her memory that day. He had already instructed his people to make changes to her files and hospitalization records, so even if Laras was to investigate now, all he would find was what Jackson was willing to let him find

“In that case,” he told Serenity in a tender volce, “just stop thinking about him If you’re feeling tired, I’ll give you a massage for a little longer.”
