Nine Months Too Late 32
Sylvie was never prepared for it. The words hit like a wave, if she had been standing, she probably would've collapsed to the floor.
Then it dawned on her. Her eyes widened as she looked down at her shirt.
No, no, no.
Her shirt had been changed! Why didn't it cross her mind?
Terror filled her eyes now as she looked back at him. Oh, God. Her lips trembled.
For half a minute, silence was all that stayed between them. Sylvie was visibly shaken.
Kage got to his feet. "You're pregnant, he repeated, his voice even harder now.
He
stopped when he was standing before the bed. "You better start talking, Sylvie."
Tears were already gathering in Sylvie's eyes,
God, how did this happen? She tried so hard to keep this from him and everyone else. She only had two weeks left to leave the country. How could this happen?
Oh, she was foolish. She blamed it all on herself for not being more careful. Why did she have to get
drunk I nthe first place! Even if it was extremely hard for her, she forced herself to leave the bed. He heart was beating faster than it was supposed to, her lungs was refusing to receive air. This wasn't supposed to happen. The thought of her plan failing woefully made her want to cry.
She grabbed her small shoulder bag and started for the door. Kage seized her wrist, bringing her to a stop.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Tm leaving. Kage," her teary eyes met his, although no tears was spilling yet.
"Like hell you are. I asked a fucking question."
"And I don't have any answers for you. Let me go!" She struggled with his hold, but he wouldn't release her.
Kage was angry, the kind of anger that could make him hurt someone. But for a good reason, he was restraining himself. Although, he wasn't sure how much longer he could hold it in. Fue
His eyes got even darker. His grip on her became tight enough to hurt a little.
"I'm trying so hard to keep it cool, Sylvie. Don't tempt me," he gritted through clenched teeth. "I thought you lost the child? Explain this!
"I swear, if you don't let me go this instant, I'll call the cops on you." She warned.
"Then, fucking do it! Is that suppose to scare me!?"
A tear finally broke free from it's dam
"Just let me go, Kage. I don't want to talk about it," her lower lip trembled.
For a strange reason, seeing her cry was enough to get Kage to let go of her hand. But his chest still burnt with contained fury.
Sylvie didn't hesitate. She ran out of the room, found her way out of the house. It wasn't until she got outside that she realized how big the house was. But she didn't have the time to think about that.
She got to the road, booked a ride and headed home.
As soon as she was in her room, she let the emotions flow. She wept bitterly, shaking as well. Her plans were knowing about the baby, she didn't know what else to do.
Kage stopped by Sylvie's office the next day and was pissed when he found it empty. Of course, something in him had told him she wouldn't want show up. He'd been agitated since the previous night after learning the truth. He was also confused He'd seen Sylvie bleed on pregnants
She could be pregnant for someone else' a stupid voice in his head keep telling him. But that shouldn't be possible. It was only two months since she lost the pregnancy. Sylvie could be annoying most
of the time, but if there was some thing he could vouch for, it was the fact that she wouldn't go sleeping around days after getting a miscarriage. In addition that baby bump did look like it was more than two months old.
No, something wasn't right..
The topic disturbed him so much, he could barely focus on work. He canceled most of his schedules for the day, but there was one he couldn't cancel an important meeting with some partners.
He was about leaving the office when he got a call from one of his assistants.
"Sir! The trucks bringing some of the building materials to the site has just been attacked. The goods are nowhere to be found." he reported.
Kage saw red. His nose flared in indignation as his hand fisted some papers on the table.
"What are you talking about? Who dis this?" He flared.
"We have no idea for now, sir, but serious efforts are ongoing to ensure we catch them
He dropped the call, grunting as he slammed his hand against the table.
God damn it!
As a renowned businessman, it was normal to get oppositions and attacks, but what made this more annoying was the fact that
he knew who it was.
The materials were being transported to the one Trillion Group building site. And who was the one person that was against the project? That rat bastard. He definitely wasn't going to let this go,
Picking up his phone, he placed a call to his Secretary at the One Trillion Group.
"Hello, sir, the female voice came.
pa
"I need you to set up a meeting for tomorrow with the Group members. Everyone must be in attendance. Make it nine a.m., he instructed. "Okay, sir."
He exhaled, dropping the call.
The cost of the missing materials wasn't the issue he had as it was a small cost for someone like him. But he hated being messed with. Westley was going to pay.
Sylvie was home in-the evening when she got a knock on the door. Stephanie wasn't home - had to go grab some groceries. Opening the door, she was stunned to meet Kage's gaze. What the hell? "What're you..." She scoffed. "What're you doing here?"
Seconds passed. "Are you gonna let me in or I should say whatever I have to say out here?" Though, he asked, he made it obvious that he had no intention of standing out there.
Sylvie's heart was already racing in her chest. She wondered if he could tell from the puffiness of her
crying. Her hair was tangled, she she looked really casual in her jeans and
Chapter 19.
Not having a choice, she let him in
Kage's eyes were on the bump. The shirt she had on was big enough to conceal it.
Now, it all made sense why she had been wearing bigger clothes to the office, why she always slept and ate so much. Why didn't he think of it?
"How did you know I was here?" Sylvie asked, stall standing, her hands crossed below her chest.
She hadn't mentioned that she was staying with Stephanie, although Kage knew her to be one of her friends.
"I can get any information if I really want to. Considering the kind of wide-mouthed friends you have, that made it really
easy
He didn't take a seat either, but with one hand in his pocket, he moved around the living room, as if checking out the place Sylvie let him, wanting as much silence between them as possible.
"Why did you move in with Stephanie?" He turned to her and asked.
She rolled her puffy eyes. "Something personal. Nothing to worry about."
He wasn't pleased with her answer. but there was a better answer he needed.
"Who's child is it. Sylvie?" His tone was more serious now. "Mine? You told me you lost the baby?"
She looked away, seething. Kage moved closer to her.
"Your know how much I hate being lied to Sylvie, and you should know how much I hate being kept in the dark. So, open your damn mouth and tell me the truth! Were you still pregnant the whole time but kept it from me!? Or has this been another man's baby all along?" Sylvie was tempted to tell him it belonged to another, but Kage was no fool. He'd make the calculations and know s lying.
she was
She closed her eyes, releasing a shaky breath. God, she never wanted it to come to this. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"Say something!" He roared.
"Yes!" She yelled back at him. "Yes, it's yours!"
Silence enveloped then for half a minute. Her chest was rising and falling heavily, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
"But I never really lied, you know? I did lose the baby the very one that happened from the push you caused down the staircase. I lost that child of mine because of you." her voice broke. "But it wasn't the only one. Even I didn't know until then that I had been pregnant with The revelation left Kage's mind reeling. His eyes, for the first time in as long as he could remember, widened in shock. She was... pregnant with twins at the moment?
Sylvie didn't realize she was shedding tears already until she sniffed.
"But what do you care, anyway?" She wiped the tear off. "I didn't tell you about it because I didn't want my babies to b a burden to you. You told me to my face that it was better I'd kept the other one because it wasn't made out of love." Kage's mind reflected on the day he'd made that statement, when he was meeting Sylvie for the first time after her return.
"In that moment, you were indirectly speaking to the babies in my womb, telling them you didn't want them either 'cause they weren't made out of love"
Kage felt a crack in his heart, but he did a good masking how he truly felt.
"Even when you raped me, you never thought of apologizing to me but instead, accused me of taking advantage of you. I may not say it all the time, Kage, but you've hurt me too many times, even when I haven't really done anything to you" She sudded again, dabbing her face
still want to stick to what I told you back then I still want to raise these babars on my own without you in the love I want you to know I've never and will never need your money or that of your family's
His eyes glinted with anger. "Why? So you can give my kids to another
Sylvie's brows furrowed
Have you been keeping this from me because you're mad at me or because you want someone else to be the father" He snarled
"Oh, don't even start with me!
"Have
you. been befriending that scumbag even while you were carrying my kids Did you sleep with him?"
"Shut the fuck up Firstly, we're divorced, Kage, and even when you knew I was pregnant, you didnt care for. So, what I move around with while being pregnant should be none of your business? "Like hell it's not! They're mine, Sylvie, and I'll not sit bald and watch you give them to another
His chest tightened with fury at the recollection of Westley being with Syhie the whole time. He remember seeing him hold her waist, making her laugh. While she had been carrying his kids Sylvie was angry, angry that he could turn the tables on her and try to blame her somehow Guy was a real jerk.
"Look," Kage sighed. "I understand I didn't really have the best reaction when I'd gotten the news two months
ago but I can never be a deadbeat. Yes, I was shocked and angry, but do you think I'm the kind of guy that would abandon my kids while sipping some champagne? His face crumpled in disgust "This wasn't expected. You and I, we never planned for this to happen, but since it already did. I'm not gonna turn a blind eye I'm taking responsibility"
Sylvie walled, wondering if she was in a movie. "And for starters, youfE MOVING and them"
in with me. I need to keep a close eye on you
