“Your wife, Mrs. Woods, was at your biggest shopping mall in Melbourne with her friend, called Lilian Powell, this afternoon.”

“And? Was she informed I own the place?” Sebastian asked, his voice filled with a hint of amusement.

Jamie nodded. “Yes, Boss. We made sure she knew that the entire mall belonged to you. She didn’t need to pay for anything. Mrs Woods and her friend were also treated like special guests and then driven home by the guards.”

A small smile tugged at Sebastian’s lips. The thought of his wife being treated like royalty somehow brought him extreme satisfaction. He chuckled softly, imagining Kourtney’s usual animated and cute expression whenever she was surprised.

But he was curious about something…….

“What did she go to buy?”

Jamie blinked at his boss’s buffoonery. He felt Sebastian was being so petty, wanting to find out every single detail of Kourtney’s life like an obsessed stalker. Great thing he had asked the security guards about that information as well!

He cleared his throat awkwardly. “Well… Ehhmm, the Madame purchased a bunch of new fashionable dresses, shoes, bags, and jewelry sets. And …then…”

“And then what?” Sebastian asked with raised brows.

Jamie hesitated, for a moment, feeling slightly embarrassed to share the next piece of information. He knew this was a topic that felt a bit too personal to discuss.

“Um, well, she also bought some new sets of ladies’ underwear,” Jamie finally managed to say, his cheeks turning slightly pink. “Daring lingerie and sexy nighties, to be precise.”

Sebastian’s face immediately twisted into a broad smile. He started grinning from ear to ear, his mind reeling from the amusing information. He couldn’t hide the sudden gush of happiness spread across his face.

His mind instantly began to wander, thinking about Kourtney and the upcoming nights they would spend together as a married couple. He had been thinking about her nonstop for days, imagining all the dirty things he would do to her. He had plans to make her squirm and tremble beneath him in endless passion. The anticipation was almost unbearable, but he knew it would be worth the wait.

Meanwhile, Jamie looked at Sebastian weirdly in amusement. In all his years of working for him, he’d never seen him put on such a sweet and genuine smile. Sebastian’s eyes practically gleamed with delight as if he’d just heard the best news ever.

It was clear that he was shamelessly excited about his wife’s purchase of new lingerie sets. It felt laughable to Jamie, but he couldn’t help but be happy for his boss. After all, he had witnessed Sebastian being lonely and celibate for years. Finally, his boss would be getting some action, and that somehow made Jamie so glad in his heart.

“Bring me my cell phone, let me call her,” Sebastian’s excitement couldn’t be contained any longer.

Jamie handed over the phone, curious to hear their conversation.

However, before Sebastian could dial her number, he noticed her name flashing on the screen. His grin seemed to widen more and more as he answered the call.

“Hello Beautiful…. I heard you had quite the shopping spree today,” Sebastian teased as soon as he answered the phone.

“Did you order your people to follow me around?” came Kourtney’s angry voice as she took the bull by the horns. She was in no mood for his usual flirting.

It would be creepy as fuck if he did send his people to follow her in secret. The possibility that he did that made her blood boil.

“Not even a good day greeting for your husband first?”

“Just answer my damn question,” Kourtney sneered impatiently.

Apart from the upcoming general meeting with her family tonight, this was the one thing bothering her all through the drive back home. For days now, she’d always felt strange, like she was being monitored everywhere she went. Her suspicions were thoroughly confirmed today when Sebastian’s bodyguards showed up out of the blue to prevent her from making payment after her shopping spree with Lilian.

“So what if I did?” Sebastian stated matter-of-factly. His voice was a little husky.

“You….. Can you make it stop? Tell your people to stop following me. I don’t want it.”

“You think your opinion matters in this?” he scoffed while Kourtney gritted her teeth furiously.

‘Why did he always have to be so annoying and controlling?’

She wondered if she’d ever start getting used to the man’s cocky attitude.

“I’m the man, so I make the rules. I just need them to keep you safe. There’s nothing more to it,” Sebastian proclaimed.

“Wait, why do I need your bodyguards to keep me safe? Am I in some kind of danger now after marrying you?” Kourtney asked almost in a whisper. Her mind started racing with fear and panic.

Sebastian’s eyes flashed with a dangerous glimmer as he clenched his jaw. For a moment, he was left speechless, contemplating the right words to use.

He thought about the looming threats that surrounded his empire. His name commanded respect and fear in the business world, and with that came a dark underbelly of enemies and rivals. His mind raced any time he remembered Kourtney could easily become a target for those seeking to strike at him through her.

He needed to ensure she was always covered by a team of security experts he could trust. Besides, he still hasn’t found the people who were responsible for his mother’s disappearance and eventual death thirteen years ago. He had also once been set up to die in an accident which he miraculously survived, but it left him disturbed for years.

As the young master of the city’s most powerful family, he would always be a target along with the people closest to him. It was a flaw he’d already accepted.

“I need to protect you as my wife because of who I am and what I have,” Sebastian finally replied, his voice low and serious. “I have enemies in the business world who would not hesitate to harm you to get to me.”

Kourtney’s eyes widened in sheer panic mode. ‘Oh my god! What have I gotten myself into?’

“Wait… So now, I have to live in fear for the rest of my life?” she screamed into the phone.
