Chapter 460
Chapter 460
I was stunned. "What?"
"What happened to Monique and her family that year, and the... abuse I've inflicted on you guys," he
said, his voice uncharacteristically bludgeoned to whispers.
My lips pressed into a thin line and I pulled a long face. "Aaron, let bygones be bygones. Stop bringing
it up."
"So, you still hate me?"
Seeing him look at me with a child-like gaze, I couldn't help feeling stunned. "What happened that year
is already behind us. After all, you didn't cause me any substantial harm. I'm just worried for Monique.
She might not be able to come to terms with it for the rest of her life."
People were really complicated. At first, I had been afraid of Aaron, but now I relied on him. I had even
started regarding him as family. From a certain point of view, Nerissa and I were actually the same kind
of person who put their own interests before others.
He looked at me for a long time and said thoughtfully, "If in the future, you realize that I have done
something to hurt you, will you still forgive me?"
At the sight of his countenance, I couldn't help gaping at him. "What have you done to warrant my Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
forgiveness?"
He pursed his lips and said, "So, will you forgive me?"
Seeing that he didn't answer my question directly, I curled my lips and said, "That depends on how bad
your mistake was. Aaron, you know me better than I do myself, and you know I can't always be
forgiving and understanding of you in spite of whatever you did, right? So, don't do anything now or in
the future that would hurt me. Let's just be good siblings for the rest of our lives, okay?"
He looked at me and lapsed into silence for a long time. Stretching out his hand, he pulled me into his
arms. He said in a low and reserved voice, "Okay, let's be siblings for the rest of our lives. It doesn't
matter if we don't have parents. You have me and Uncle Charles. We are all your family."
I nodded but couldn't help but feel how unreal everything felt right now. He seemed to have something
hidden away deep in his heart.
But I also knew that even if I asked, I wouldn't get anything from him.
I could not help but sigh as I pulled away from him. "Alright, it's getting late. Hurry up
and go back!"
After sending Aaron home, I went straight back to the villa.
It was already ten. I didn't expect that Andrea would still be lingering about at the villa.
She came and went freely, as if she had completely made herself at home.
Greeted with my return, she stood in my way at the door and said with a gloomy expression, "Look at
you, Arianna, coming home in the middle of the night. Your wild nature dies hard, huh? Now that
Hendrix isn't here, you're as free as a wild horse."
Andrea was the most unchallenging love rival that I had ever met. If it weren't for Casper, I was sure
she wouldn't even have the right to be in the Roberts villa.
I simply glanced at her, not in the mood to bother myself with her. Nonchalantly, I said, "Miss Burton,
why don't you pay me rent? I'll consider leasing a room for you to stay in so that you won't have to run
back and forth like this every day. This must be troublesome for you!"
"You!" She fumed in anger.
I didn't want to stick around for another round of cursing, so I said pointedly, "It's getting late. Miss
Burton, please go home!"
After that, I headed straight for the kitchen.
Not giving up, she followed behind me and tugged at my hand. "Arianna, if I can't be happy, you can't
either. Weren't you going to avenge your dead child? I'm telling you, even if my mother hadn't
intervened, your child wouldn't have been able to live. It's not a normal child at all."
A smack resounded. I gave Andrea a tight, merciless slap. My eyes narrowed, my stare cold as I said,
"Andrea, there's a limit to my patience. You're cursing a child even when they're already six feet under.
Don't you think you're despicable?"
Andrea had been slapped so hard that the wind was completely knocked out of her. It took her a long
time to recover from the shock. Her unbridled anger was stark on her face. In fact, it grew even more
aggressive. "Arianna, how dare you hit me?"
Suppressing my fury, I ignored her and made my way to the kitchen. I seemed to have drank some cold
fruit juice at dinner, so my lower abdomen was aching a little.
Being a woman was really troublesome. Whenever I was on my period, I would be tortured half to
death.
Minnie was still waiting around for me. When she saw that I had returned, she came out of the nanny's
room and was met with Andrea. She frowned slightly, her voice soft, "Miss Burton, you haven't left yet?"
Instead of responding to her, Andrea blocked my way. She pressed her palm on half of her face and
seethed, "Arianna, you slapped me because I hit a sore spot, right? Hear me out, do you think the
meds Hendrix gave you while you were pregnant were actually good for you? I'm telling you, those
drugs cause deformities. Is there no end to your stupidity? The baby clearly showed signs of
deformities, yet you still kept taking those drugs."
I frowned, my eyes a thin slit. Then, I looked at her and asked through gritted teeth. "What do you
mean?"
