Chapter 454
Chapter 454
I was so surprised to hear that. I felt my heart filling up with an indescribable sense of warmth. He
seemed to have always known what I wanted to do, yet he never stopped me and had always helped
me in his own ways.
It was like someone had poured a warm jar of honey around my heart. How warm and comforting of a
feeling. I pulled him closer for a hug and leaned against his chest. Then, I said hoarsely, "Thank you,
Hendrix!"
He kissed me on the forehead and said, "What did Andrea say today?"
"It was about her mother!" I said. My stomach was lesser of a pain now, but my body still felt weak.
He said, "I'll get Austin to send her to Mesville so she can live her life there."
"Alright!" I replied nonchalantly.
Sensing my shift in emotions, he held my chin and lifted it up so that we were looking eye to eye. "Are
you angry?"
"No!" I shook my head and sighed, "Hendrix, I knew from the moment you promised Casper that you
wouldn't be able to let go of this responsibility. We still have a long way to go, and life is full of
possibilities so no one knows for sure what will happen in the future. But all will be fine as long as we
live well in the present."
Dalton was a veteran, and since Hendrix was brought up by him, the teachings he had instilled in
Hendrix were of duty and responsibility. It was a lifelong principle of theirs. Therefore, even though
Hendrix harbored no feelings for Andrea, he would still do everything in his power to take care of her.
One must admit that Casper had indeed chosen someone worthy of entrusting his sister to for the rest
of her life.
Since Nerissa was dead-set on thinking that I was the one who told the reporters about the Granger Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Group, she was determined to make things difficult for me.
With Hendrix being away on a business trip, I would be constantly criticized by Nerissa in the villa. So, I
went straight to the Granger Group to check on Fantasia Company's progress.
But before I even left the neighborhood, I bumped into Valerie. Winters in Jarold City were particularly
cold, and Valerie welcomed that for her fashion preferences. She was dressed chicly and fashionably
as usual -cladded in minimalistic black high-heels and a trendy wool coat for that extra layer of warmth.
She saw that I was heading out, so she emerged from her Land Rover and took off her sunglasses.
She pursed her lips and asked, "Miss Reid, you look very busy. Are you heading out on such a cold
day?"
She was here looking for me most likely because she had been investigated. I didn't waste any time
and went straight to the point. "Madam Lawson, what can I help you with?"
She smiled faintly and said gracefully, "It's cold outside. Don't you mind getting in the car for a chat?"
She opened the car door and added, "Don't worry, the heater in the car is turned on, so it's very warm
in there!"
I got into the car, sat in the passenger seat, and asked her to speak.
"You were the one who gave Charles the information he has in his hands, weren't you?" She asked,
leaning against the back of her seat. Her face was blank and emotionless.
I thought for a moment and said, "What do you mean specifically?"
She curled her lips and played with the sunglasses in her hand. "To be honest, you are a lot like me
when I was young, full of grudges and indifference. Everything I did all these years was just so I could
marry Pedro. Now, my dreams have finally been realized. You're smart, you know how to hit where it
hurts. And you know that Andrea and Pedro are the people I care most about."
"You've dug out all the skeletons in my closet from the past all because you want the Moore family to
reject me and chase me out again. Even so, Ariana, have you ever thought about what will happen to
you when I strike back if you're not capable of killing me in one blow?"
I looked at her and saw her indifferent expression. I couldn't help but stare blankly at her for a moment.
Then, I replied, "So, what do you want to talk to me about, Madam Lawson?"
"Let's end this. I acted too impulsively with your child, but with Andrea’s child gone too, one could call
this a kiss from karma. All the scheming and traps that you've set up for me have greatly tired me and
caused the Moore family to embarrass me in every way. I guess this is my punishment. So, let's just
throw in the towel here and make peace with each other. How about that?"
She said everything with so much ease. Her beautiful eyebrows narrowed as if she was waiting for my
response.
I stared at her and thought that if I had to hit where it hurts, then what would make Valerie hurt the
most?
Andrea and Pedro?
