Chapter 439
Chapter 439
Andrea watched Hendrix fidget and said with a smile, "Is that true, Hendrix?"
I...
After finding myself a seat, I held my chin and said solemnly, "Aunt Nerissa, how old were you when
you left home?"
Nerissa didn't answer me, but Hendrix did. He quickly replied, "Fifteen years old!"
I raised my eyebrows, "Hendrix, Grandpa said that when you were five, you were sent to Mesville after
your parents' accident. You only returned to Ucrebury when you were twenty. Does this mean you Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
finished a whole pot of porridge at the age of five? Was the pot tiny, or did five-year-old Hendrix just
have an incredible appetite?"
Hendrix narrowed his eyes and looked at me, "I actually hate pumpkin porridge."
Long story short, Nerissa had no idea what she was saying and was basically talking nonsense.
I shrugged and glanced indifferently at Nerissa, whose face was pale with embarrassment. Then, I
picked up the bowl of porridge that Minnie had just brought to me and handed it to Hendrix. "Have
some. We have things to do later."
Nerissa was probably unhappy that she got called out on her crap, but she still refused to let me have a
good morning. She looked at Hendrix and said, "Hendrix, Andrea and I want to go to Roberts Group in
a moment. Why don't you take us there since it'd be on the way?"
Hendrix took a sip of the porridge and looked at her blankly. "It's not on the way."
"We're all heading to Roberts Group, so why would that not be on the way?" Nerissa's expression
looked sour already.
Andrea asked in a soft voice, "Hendrix, you don't really want to see me, do you?"
Hendrix raised his eyes and looked at her. He nodded his head and said seriously, "I don't!"
I...
That must have made Andrea feel wronged as her eyes started to redden. She stood up and said,
"Then I won't bother you anymore."
She was about to walk out of the door, but was stopped by Nerissa. "Andrea, don't you get it?
Obviously, Hendrix was just joking. Where are you going?"
As she spoke, she pulled Andrea back to the dining table. Nerissa looked at Hendrix and asked,
"Where are you going later? Why isn't Roberts Group on the way?"
Hendrix's patience was wearing thin. He set down the bowl in his hand and said, "I have something to
do!"
Seeing that I stopped eating after a few mouthfuls, he frowned, "You don't like it?"
I shook my head. "It's good, it's just a little noisy."
Nerissa was already unhappy, so when she heard this, she opened her mouth and said, "Arianna,
you're the granddaughter-in-law of the Roberts, so what do you mean by that? I'm in a bit of a bind right
now, so can't I stay here for a few days as your aunt? Are you trying to chase me out?"
I was amused. I decided that I had enough for breakfast. "Oh, so you are aware that you're our aunt,
Madam Roberts. There shouldn't be any aunt in the 21st century who would let their nephew take on a
mistress so openly, right?"
"A mistress?" Nerissa frowned. "Arianna, what are you talking about?"
I raised my eyebrows, "If not a mistress, then are you trying to get Hendrix to cheat on me?"
Seeing that I left no room for argument, Nerissa's expression turned cold. She looked at me and said,
"Arianna, what nonsense are you talking about?"
I laughed and said, "How am I the one talking nonsense? As his aunt, don't you know that Andrea
worships Hendrix? Don't you know that she wholeheartedly wants to marry him? What's your
relationship with Andrea? What do you intend to do by bringing her in here? Are you going to let her
play first come, first served and make me divorce Hendrix?"
I felt myself getting emotional. I looked at Nerissa and continued, "Aunt Nerissa, if you don't like me
and you look down on me, you can say it to my face. Hendrix and I can get a divorce at any time.
There's no need to bring someone else into our home."
