My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 408

Chapter 408

"Why shouldn't I be angry?" He sneered and continued, "You've been with Irvin for almost 24 hours, so

you might as well take him in as your godson to keep him company 24/7."

Looking at his angry face, I pursed my lips. "Wouldn't you agree that it'd be more convenient if I just

married him instead?"

"Bang!" He slammed his fist hard on the table. He snapped at me, "You weren't home all day and was

still out this late, yet you're here being unreasonable with me?"

I lowered my head and said, "I'm not being unreasonable. All you do is lose your temper without asking

me why I was there or what had happened. And you're blaming me for being unreasonable when

clearly, you're the unreasonable one here, Hendrix."

He was stunned to hear that and almost burst out laughing in anger. After a pause, he looked at me

and said, "Fine, tell me then. Why did you go to Irvin's place?"

I found a spot to sit down and looked at him, "Get me a glass of water!"

He looked at me in bewilderment and the corner of his handsome lips twitched.

"Arianna, you..."

"If you don't want to do it, then forget it. Just don't get snappy with me when I don't tell you anything."

He couldn't do anything to me even if he was angry.

His dark eyes were fixed on me for a while, and he bit his lips in anger. He finally uttered, "You better

tell me, otherwise..."

He trailed off after that. Then, he went to pour me a glass of water and sat in front of me. He looked at

me coldly and said, "Now tell me!"

I held the cup in my hands, thought for a moment, and said, "Uncle Granger passed away."

He raised his eyebrows. "I know about this already. My aunt told me." After a pause, he raised his

eyebrows and narrowed his eyes. "Was that it?"

I paused, puckered my lips, and continued, "Also, Irvin's mother, Helen, jumped off a building today and

killed herself. I was worried that Irvin would sink into depression, so I stayed with him at Central Park

Residence for a while, that's why I was home late."

A frown formed on his face before he closed his eyes, "What happened exactly?"

He had been busy for the past few days, so perhaps Nerissa had only briefly told him about

Yohannes's death instead of painting him the whole picture.

Besides, this was the Granger Group's business after all. To put it bluntly, all Hendrix and I were, were

outsiders.

After thinking for a moment, I said, "Nerissa told Helen about what happened all those years ago on the

day Yohannes passed away. And Helen must have been overwhelmed because of that. So, she lost

her mind. Perhaps she couldn't bear the pain of all that, so she chose to leave with Yohannes." Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

He nodded and didn't pay the Granger Family much attention. Instead, he looked at me and said, "Irvin

has his own life to live. If it's not necessary, stop going over there so often. Don't forget, I'm still your

husband."

His words reeked of bitter jealousy.

I said, "Hendrix, I'm only returning a favor. Stop making things into something they're not."

"Do you think you're Mother Theresa? There are so many ways to repay a debt of gratitude. Do you

absolutely have to choose to give yourself away like this?" The man's voice dripped with sarcasm.

After all, he was in a sour mood and had no intention to have an adult conversation with me. Thus, I

decided not to argue with him any longer.

I said, "It's late. Aren't you sleepy?"

He glanced at me and went upstairs grumpily.

Knowing that he was angry, I tried my best to stay out of his way and to avoid provoking him. I entered

the bedroom, but he wasn't there. He was probably in the study then.

I headed for the bathroom. The bathroom floor was not slippery, so I took my shoes off as usual and

went into the bathroom barefooted.

Who knew I would slip and fall after taking a few steps?

"Ah!" For a moment, I was so shocked that I let out a scream.

The bedroom door suddenly swung open and Hendrix gasped. It seemed like he had ran over here.

When he saw me on the bathroom floor, he narrowed his eyes and picked me up. He frowned and

asked, "Are you hurt?"

"I sprained my ankle!"
