Chapter 370
Chapter 370
I looked up and paused. "Hendrix, is Doctor Saunders in Mesville?"
He nodded. "The company is expanding and Josiah is in charge of it. I've also been busy. What's the
matter?" This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Can you ask him to do me a favor?" I really didn't feel at ease about Ian and Monique. For the past
few months, I had not heard anything from Monique.
Everytime I called Ian, he would hang up the phone in a hurry. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with
the both of them or if they were happy.
"Well, there's a dinner gathering tonight. You can ask Josiah about it later." Hendrix paused and
frowned, when saw that I wasn't moving when I had already prepared to leave. "What's wrong? Don't
you feel like going anymore?"
I nodded. "Monique and Ian have gone to Mesville."
He nodded slightly. "Okay. I'll head out to do something and pick you up for dinner tonight!"
"No, it's fine, I'll drive there myself!"
"Do you realize that it has become a habit of yours to reject me?"
I froze. Looking at his gloomy face, I said faintly, "It's not what you think, I..."
"Well, drive safely tonight then!" Saying that, Hendrix left moodily.
Was he angry?
I put my hand on my forehead to rub it, feeling as if my head was getting dizzy.
It was seven o'clock in the evening when I arrived at the Imperial Restaurant. Everyone was already
there when I entered the private dining room.
Apart from Hendrix and Josiah, there were two other people in the room. One of them was Calvin
Hammer whom I saw the other day and Troy Lawson, the director of Alford Audit.
"It's been a long time since we last met, Mrs. Roberts!" Troy and I had met a few times for work, so we
weren't very familiar with each other.
I nodded faintly. After greeting everyone, I couldn't help but to steal some glances at Calvin. Wasn't he
held being in custody by the police? How did he get released within one day?
It was just like what Kelsey said. He had so much power that the police were helpless to do anything
about it.
However, Ucrebury was not a place where one's power could sweep everything under the rug. It was
neither that corrupted nor a dictatorship.
"Mrs. Roberts, what a coincidence. We meet again." Calvin smiled. He looked different from the
vicious, violent man that I saw the other day. He looked very much like a gentleman that wasn't even
capable of such violent acts.
How could a man change so drastically?
I nodded my head, trying my best to maintain a smile on my face.
Troy signalled for the waiter to begin serving once everybody was seated. He then started a
conversation with Hendrix.
They were all talking about work. They were talking about letting Alford Audit handle Ucrebury's
Roberts Group's audit that year as usual.
Hendrix looked indifferent and said, "Mr. Lawson, all the industries related to the Roberts in Ucrebury
are currently under my wife's management. You should talk to her."
I couldn't help but to be surprised. Since when did Roberts Group's assets were under me?
Even if the Roberts Group moved their headquarters to Jarold City, Ucrebury was, after all, the Roberts
Group's foundation. It was such a huge enterprise, how could I manage it?
Josiah was also caught by surprise at the news. He paused in the middle of drinking his tea, glanced at
me, then regained his composure.
Troy smiled and said, "I wouldn't have known about it if you had not spoken. So it seemed like Miss
Reid is the one handling all of Roberts Group's business."
I glanced at Hendrix. I didn't know what tricks he was pulling.
There wasn't much to talk about with Troy about Roberts Group's audit. Everything that needed to be
discussed was done in the last quarter.
I looked at Troy and said, "Mr. Lawson, it's not that I don't trust your company but due to the last
incident, Roberts Group had faced a little crisis. In addition, as you know, I was fired from the company.
I can't repeat the same mistake twice."
