Days passed by, but Hendrix and Jordan didn't show up again.

Evan woke up the next day, and the first thing he asked about was Samantha and the children.

"Don't worry because they're fine." I pushed him back onto the bed and poured him a cup of warm water. After noticing that he was calmer, I said, "Hendrix saved you."

"Yes, I know." Evan held the glass in his hand, and his expression was calm, "This shows that I'm still useful to him."

Judging from his reaction, he wasn't surprised with Hendrix's actions.

I'd confirmed my other speculation that Evan knew the hidden story behind Hendrix's sudden change.

"Jordan's subordinates are not here, so you don't have to pretend or hide. No one is here to hear them anyway," I said with a joking tone, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere.

Evan pursed his lips and smiled. His pale face looked better, but still he kept quiet.

I wasn't surprised because I knew he was someone who would keep secrets no matter what happened. I could use him to pass along messages, and neither of us would be affected.

"You can continue to keep quiet. I'll analyze everything myself. After all, we'll have all the time to spend together in the future." I picked up an apple and peeled it slowly.

If it wasn't for what happened at the factory, I would've thought that Evan was only trying to comfort me. But now that I think about it, Evan had always been sincere. He always tried to make people think about the good and wait for the results.

Every man in the world probably acts the same way. After making up their mind, they would work so hard for it and afraid that even the slightest leak would lead to the failure of their original plan.

I shook my head with a smile and looked down to peel the apple while saying casually, "If it's that simple, you would've told me the truth already and not hiding everything even until now."

Evan had never been good with words. After what I said, he didn't know how to respond.

I wasn't in a rush to force him to tell me the truth but just patiently peeled off the apple skin and handed the apple to him.

Evan took it and held it in his hand, looking like he didn't have any intentions of eating it. He stared blankly into a distance as he was startled by my words.

"I didn't mean anything. I understand that you both must have your reasons for not telling me the truth. But I hope that you can understand my position as a woman and a wife. I don't want and can't stay out of this. You go tell Hendrix that I'm in this, no matter what, and have him meet me."

"I don't understand what you mean, Mrs. Roberts." Evan's expression froze and his delicate brows frowned slightly. There was a hint of worry in his eyes.

I almost forgot that when I mentioned I wanted to join, Evan was already unconscious. I shrugged my shoulders with a smile and explained, "Very simple. You're not the only person who can help Hendrix now. I, as his wife, will join you both for this big project."

Evan smiled with suspicion, saying, "Mr. Roberts would not agree."

I showed my palms and looked innocent. "Is that important? As long as Jordan doesn't disagree, then it's fine. If I'm not wrong, your boss will never say no to Jordan, am I right?"

Evan looked at me and was speechless. Perhaps he wanted to persuade me to give up, but as we exchanged gazes, he noticed how different I was and admitted defeat in the end without saying a word.

Since I had achieved my goal, I decided to go back and take care of Aaron. It would also be a good opportunity for Evan and Hendrix to communicate and exchange information.
