My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 1967

Chapter 1967

Hendrix seemed to have finished looking through the medical reports as he put the tablet down and turned to look at me. "Miss Reid, you're one of a kind as well. You're obviously upset, yet you're forcing yourself to smile."

I was speechless.

There was an awkward silence between us.

We stared at each other for a few seconds. I lost this impromptu staring contest. His cone of shamelessness was unbreakable. "Think what you like," I admitted defeat.

Hendrix didn't take advantage of my admission of defeat, which was very rare. Of course, it wasn't out of kindness, but because the attending doctor had just entered the office.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

As soon as the doctor came in, he placed a thick medical report on the table in front of Hendrix.

"In summary, Miss Reid's physical condition is rather good. There are a few minor problems that need recuperating. As for..."

"Get to the point." Hendrix didn't give the doctor the chance to continue babbling.

The doctor was very familiar with Hendrix and dared not upset him. He then put on a serious face.

"Miss Reid's loss of memory is probably due to her brain having been cut off from oxygen for an extended period of time, resulting in the damage of the hippocampus. According to the medical report, the possibility of her recovering her memory isn't very high."

He paused for a moment before looking at Hendrix and spoke thoughtfully, "As for Mr. Roberts' condition, I'm still unsure."

"Don't worry. I won't hold you accountable," Hendrix reassured him.

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief. Cautiously, he explained, "Although both of you were involved in the accident six years ago, your conditions are very different. All is good with Mr. Roberts' body and there are no symptoms of amnesia. Hence, the only possibility left is hypnosis."

"Hypnosis?" Hendrix's face darkened. His eyes gleamed with malice. His aura turned colder and extremely menacing.

Even I was taken aback by this.

Wasn't hypnosis something that only appeared in TV shows?

"Hypnosis has always been a controversial method in the medical field. It's mostly used to ease a patient's emotions..." The doctor pushed his glasses up on his nose. He had a serious expression on his face. "As everyone knows, hypnosis works wonders for memory, which can be the solution to Mr. Roberts' case. However, I'm not a specialized doctor in that area, so I may not be able to help much..."

After he finished speaking, he got up to leave; but a bodyguard blocked his way out.

"Sir?" The bodyguard called out, looking to Hendrix for instructions.

"Let him go." Hendrix didn't even spare him a look. He only stared into space, not saying anything else. No one knew whether he had heard anything the doctor said.

After the doctor left, Hendrix fell into deep thought. His face was blank while also looking very unapproachable.

Although I wasn't afraid of him, I didn't dare to provoke him right now. All I could do was wait silently.

God knows after how long, Hendrix finally came to his senses. He stood up and took my hand, practically dragging me to the car.

After driving for some distance, Hendrix whispered, "Is there anything you would like to have for dinner?"

"Are you saying that I get to make a

choice, with you, Mr. Roberts? I think it's better for you to decide." Suddenly, I thought of something. "Aren't we having dinner at home?"

Hendrix didn't answer. He took a turn and pulled the car up in front of a restaurant.

Resignedly, I got out of the car. "How lonely it is for Wynn to have dinner alone," I muttered.

Hendrix stopped and looked at me. He had a "I know what I'm doing" look on his face, indicating that there was no need for me to worry.

How could I not worry?

Children were human beings as well. They had their own thoughts and feelings. We left him all alone at home. He had to be very upset.

"I don't know how long I'll stay as his mother, but as long as I am, I will give him my all!" I thought to myself.

Just as I was about to head home

alone, Hendrix interrupted, "Heavy

traffic in Jarold City will last untiri

o'clock. There are still two hours left. Are you sure you're not hungry?"

"I can endure..."

The second the word "endure" came out of my mouth, my stomach growled.

Ever since I woke up from my coma,

I rarely ate on time. Even if I did, it would only be a snack. The check-up had taken half a day. My stomach was very empty, so, of course, I was hungry.

Nothing could be more embarrassing than the situation I was in right now.
