Chapter 1955
Chapter 1955
Wynn wanted me to sing to him and comfort him to sleep, so he didn't take what he'd seen to heart.
He was already so sleepy that he was fast asleep in a matter of minutes. Just as I was about to send a message to Freya, I heard the bathroom door open.
Afraid that Hendrix would play some tricks on me again, I turned off the light immediately and hid under the quilt, pretending to have fallen asleep.
I heard his footsteps approaching then finally stop beside the bed. After a moment of silence, the footsteps gradually drifted away. Soon, I heard the door close.
Hendrix left.
What a strange man.
The next morning, Wynn woke me up.
The child wanted to have breakfast made by me, so I prepared some simple food. He left the nutritious meal made by the cook on the table and ate my food instead.
Hendrix sat in front of me and immediately understood what was going on, looking at how different our breakfast items were. "Is this how you treat your fiance?"
I still held a grudge against him for being taken advantage of last night, so I pretended not to hear him.
Hendrix raised his voice. "Arianna!"
Without even lifting my head, I said nonchalantly, "Wynn hasn't eaten his mother's cooking before. I did that to make him happy. Mr. Roberts, do you need someone to comfort you as well? Besides, you have such a fit and healthy body. I can't afford to cause harm to it."
Hendrix didn't look happy upon hearing this. Just as he was about to speak, a servant interrupted him from afar, "Evan is here, Sir."
Hendrix gave me an angry glare, snorted coldly then went upstairs with his men.
As the sound of their footsteps moved further away, I sneaked a glance in the direction of the stairs.

Twenty minutes later, he still showed no sign of coming downstairs. The servants were already cleaning up.
I asked casually, "Where's Hendrix?"
"Evan and our master are in the study."
Hearing that Evan was also there, I followed them resentfully.
When I stopped at the door, I could hear the faint sounds of
conversation. I leaned against the door trying to hear them more
clearly, but it was of no useng

I tidied up my clothes and hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door.
"It's me, Arianna."
The door opened from the inside, and Hendrix stepped out.
He stood at the gap between the door, asking calmly, "What's the matter?"
I pursed my lips. "You're not having breakfast?"
Hendrix was stunned for a moment before replying, "I'll eat whatever Wynn is having. I'm not picky about food."
"A child's meal?" Was he competing with his own son?
"Yeah." Hendrix added, "Miss Reid, you're not obligated to do this. If you don't want to, you don't need to force yourself."
As he spoke, he raised his chin and pointed at the stairway behind me, indicating that I could leave whenever I wanted.
I had wanted to go downstairs to
cook, but I suddenly felt that something was wrong. "Hendrix, who am to you? You brought me back just so that I could serve you like a servant and let you do whatever you want?"
Hendrix put his hand into his pocket and deliberately moved to the side, leaning against the door with all of his weight. I could see Evan holding on to some documents inside. Do you want to get your memories back? Or do you want to listen in?"
