Chapter 74

Chapter 74

However, he wouldn’t ask Candice about it anyway. Instead, he asked, “Where’s Alex?”

“I don’t know,” Candice said.

She really did not know where he was since she had not seen him since yesterday morning.

Sieg frowned as she stared at Candice. “Why are you being so aggressive with me so early in the

morning.

Candice?”

“I’m just answering your question,” Candice said in a calm tone.

However, all Sieg could feel was how rude Candice’s tone was and he kept on pushing it. At first,

Candice could still speak with him with patience, but even she had reached her limits in the end.

She couldn’t help but say, “If you’re looking for him, why don’t you call him? Why are you looking for me

here? I’m not his maid to know everything about him.”

Sieg most likely didn’t realize that Candice would get so angry, and his face was getting gloomy.

Just as he was going to yell at her, he saw the figure coming from behind Candice. He raised his hand

and

said, “Alex.”

Candice froze a moment before hearing Alex’s deep voice. “Why are you here?”

“I was getting bored at Dorrington City, so I came over to Stugan City for some fun.”

Candice kept her pose and didn’t move until Alex’s dispassionate voice rang in her ears. “You can’t wait

to

resign, can you?”

Candice said nothing as she smelled the cold cedar scent from him.

She did want to leave Aether, but she hadn’t solved the problem with Yvonne yet. And there was also

the issue

of Peach’s medical bills.

At the end of the day, she was still related to her by blood. It was impossible for Candice to simply give

up on

her.

And then there was her grandfather’s health.

Because of one sentence, Candice’s mind was in a mess. But she was the one who had said that she

wanted

to resign. She couldn’t go back on her own words.

Candice closed her eyes, feeling that her heartbeats were slowly increasing in pace.

When Alex didn’t hear her replies, he assumed he was right.

He clicked his tongue and slightly lowered his head, and his deep voice slowly rang in Candice’s ear

again. You found your next one already?”

Candice straightened her back and then said, “No, you’re overthinking.”

He chuckled. “I thought Jackson had arranged everything for you.”

Candice took in a deep breath and turned around, looking straight at Alex. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

It was at this time that she noticed the distance between them. Alex was so close to her that he was

almost

touching her.

As soon as Candice turned around, Alex’s scent immediately enveloped her.

Sho

could even hear Alex’s heartbeat.

He was quite tall, and he had a powerful personal aura. Candice had to lift her head before she could

see his eyes clearly.

Candice’s right hand curled into a fist and said, “Alex, don’t cross the line.”

“Me? Crossing the line?” Alex narrowed his eyes as he looked down at Candice. “Did I touch a sore

spot when

I mentioned Jackson? Or was it that man from the other day?”

“Alex, can you stop being ridiculous?!” Candice said as her entire being was shaking. She closed her

eyes slowly, almost unable to speak a word.

She was a person and could feel pain, too.

As soon as she said that, there were the sounds of children playing from behind her. And then, Candice

felt that someone had rammed into her back, and she couldn’t help but fall to the front.

But Alex was in front of her.

Alex managed to hold her waist tightly as she fell on him.

Her forehead hit his chin, and Alex let out a slight groan, but his arms around her waist tightened.

The voices of the parents’ apologies came from behind her, but Candice was almost right on top of

Alex’s

chest.

She could feel the rise and fall of Alex’s chest and could also hear his sneer. “So, you didn’t manage to

find

someone else, and wanted to continue to win me over?”
