Hanley hummed in acknowledgment and suddenly asked Candice, “Do you like Van Gogh?”

Candice was taken aback. “I like his sunflowers.”

“What about Monet?”

While standing at the door, Hanley engaged in a random conversation with Candice, jumping from

artists to philosophers to current celebrities.

Candice gradually calmed down while she was in this seemingly irrelevant dialogue. She changed into

fresh clothes and picked up her suitcase. Then, she opened the door and handed Hanley his

coat back.

Instead of taking the coat, Hanley took the suitcase from her. “Hold on to it for a bit.”

They return to the villa. As they left, Candice saw that someone had painted words on her door in

red.

[Pay up!]

Nadia held her hand and comforted her, “It’s probably a case of mistaken identity. It’s okay. Candice.

Once you’re settled, you can sleep with me.”

Initially, Candice also thought it must be a case of someone mistaking the place until later…

Candice walked back to Hanley’s villa. It felt safer here with more people around. However, Nadia and

others kept using her injury as an excuse and didn’t allow her to do any work.

The group of people who came to bang on the door that night were quickly identified as a bunch

of troublemakers.

Nadia accompanied Candice to the police station to make a statement. Candice had become

strangely familiar with the police station lately, as she had visited several times.

The contract between Burning Star Studio and Aether Corporation was still in a deadlock with no clear

resolution.

Hanley and the others continued to go about their business as usual, while Candice stayed at the villa.

Hanley had told her to rest and recover from her ordeal.

Since that was the case, Candice had no choice and took care of some logistic matters while she

rested.

Hanley’s villa was in building eight.

Meanwhile, Jessica was in building six, holding a cup of tea in her hand.

She smiled at Helen and said, “What a rare sight. It’s not easy to get you to come here. I’ve called you

before, but you never came. I heard you were hospitalized recently?”

Helen was obviously in a bad mood. “Good news doesn’t travel far, but bad news does.”

Jessica raised an eyebrow and didn’t respond to her comment. Instead, she changed the topic.

“Weren’t you looking for Alex’s future wife? Have you found anyone to your liking?”

Jessica and Helen were considered close friends. However, Jessica followed her husband to

another state for some time and only recently returned.

“I found someone I like, but whether they like Alex is another story.”

Helen was frustrated. She naturally had a stern appearance, but she looked even more

unapproachable now with how serious she looked.

Jessica was well aware of Helen’s temperament, so she smiled and said, “Are you angry with

Daniel again? Remember what you told me back then? Marrying someone capable is better than

marrying someone who’s just a freeloader.”

“It might have been better if I had married a freeloader.” A hint of complex emotions flashes in

Helen’s eyes. After a while, she added. “It probably would have been better than living a chaotic

life like this now.”

“Forget about Daniel. I don’t care what he does in his life anymore. Alex is also making me so

worried right now.”

Jessica quickly interrupted, “I just called Alex over. After all, I’m his godmother.”

When Hanley and the others left early in the morning, they left behind a lot of waste paper. Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

After Candice sorted out and found nothing important, she stuffed everything into her pockets to throw

away.

Recently, she was forced to stay at home. For convenience and due to a lack of mood to dress up. she

wore lounge clothes every day, and her face was bare.

After throwing away the garbage, she saw a familiar figure approaching as she turned around.

Candice looked down, intending to walk away.

But then, the person called out indifferently, “Candice.”
