Chapter 0331

Chapter 0331

His provocations made Candice feel uncomfortable just listening.

She looked up at Hanley and heard his even colder and deeper voice. "Have the relatives of the Baldwin family acknowledged your birth?"

Caspian's expression turned completely ugly as he stared at Hanley. After a moment, he gritted his teeth and said, "Hanley, don't always think you're so great. One day, the Baldwin family will be mine!"

After Yuric escorted Caspian out, Hannah also seemed a bit tired. Candice and Hanley quickly bid farewell and left.

Even after leaving the hospital, Candice did not ask Hanley a single question about Caspian.

Hanley remained silent too, showing no inclination to say more.

On the way back, old Mr. Elysian called Candice and tried to arrange a dinner together in the evening, but Candice declined, citing work commitments.

It was not just an excuse. There were many recent developments at Burning Star. Not only was the department gradually resuming work, but there were also matters concerning the Blue Artifact project.

The contract signed between Aether and Burning Star stipulated phased payments and periodic inspections. However, due to Aether's own recent issues, the payment schedule had been delayed by a week.

Ryan had contacted them urgently several times, but the response from Aether's side had consistently been that they could not spare time temporarily.

"What do they mean by not having time? I think they're doing it deliberately!" Ryan sat on the sofa with a grim expression, visibly annoyed. "Those materials are time-sensitive, and they're particularly sensitive to temperature and light. If we miss the optimal timing, the effectiveness will be greatly reduced. They'll definitely find excuses again later, saying we didn't meet their standards."

Just as Candice came out of the study, she heard Ryan's words and asked, "Hasn't Aether made the payment yet? What did Sawyer say?"

"Don't even mention it. I can't even get in touch with Sawyer. I finally managed to reach him this morning, but before I could say anything, he asked me to contact another person in charge," Ryan said.

Candice knew that Aether had a lot on its plate recently due to the data leakage issue, so a lot of issues were piling at one go. At times like these, importance and urgency were definitely distinguished for proper prioritizing.

After a moment of silence, she said, "I'll try contacting them again."

True to her words, Candice returned to the study and called Sawyer.

The phone rang for a long time without anyone picking up. Candice did not redial but instead sent a text message to Sawyer, asking him to contact her once he saw it.

Aether's busyness was similar to what Candice guessed. Everyone in the company had been working overtime for four consecutive days.

Inside the President's Office, Sieg sat on the sofa. "If I didn't come to Aether now, I would not be able to reach you at all, would I?" he said impatiently.

Alex did not even lift his gaze, still looking at the documents in his hand. "Just say what you need."

Sieg clicked his tongue. "I was in a hurry to share good news with you, but you seem unappreciative."

Alex remained silent.

Sieg could only curse inwardly and said irritably, "You can rest assured, it seems the cooperation between Brisco Corp and the Quimbys is about to fall apart."

Alex paused, then looked up at Sieg. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Sieg lowered his voice and continued. "There's intense internal conflict within the Quimby family. Mr. Quimby, the patriarch, has been hospitalized, and Solomon can barely handle Darius' methods. They're in chaos right now, so you can relax." Sieg sighed. "Darius has only been in the Quimby family for a few years, yet he's quite ruthless. If you ask me, you'd better let Solomon go and get in touch with Darius instead. Who knows, maybe in the future, the Quimby family will be renamed Renault."
