My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0320

Chapter 0320

The grievance in Sonia's eyes transformed into a lament. The name of Candice was the one she could hardly bear to hear now.

If not for Candice, Alex would never have been so heartless to her.

Yes.

Sonia suddenly lifted her head, remembering the night when her affair with Xavier had been discovered. When she hurriedly came to the company, she had seen Candice! Moreover, even at the hospital before, Candice had mentioned her affair with Xavier.

As if grasping a sudden revelation, her eyes became noticeably cold. It must be Candice who had reported this to Alex!

Sonia's heart almost confirmed her suspicion. If it weren't for Candice's jealousy over her relationship with Alex, why would she appear in his office? It had to be her, that despicable Candice!

A strong resentment suddenly burst from Sonia's chest. She was not going to let Candice off easily. Even though Alex was already hers, Candice still had to interfere. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Sonia stood still, her body trembling slightly.

Abruptly, her phone's ringtone interrupted her thoughts. Sonia looked at the display showing "Mom" and answered the call with an expressionless face.

Joan's scolding voice immediately came through, "How is it going with Alex? Have you apologized properly? Let me tell you, you'll regret it if you let him slip away!"

"Aunt Jocelyn is coming over this weekend with Uncle Ivan and your brother. You’d better bring Alex for dinner, got it?"

Taking a deep breath, Sonia replied, "I'm still at work."

With that, she hung up the phone. She bit her bloodless lips and quickly made another call.

'Candice. You owe me, and you're going to pay me back double!' she thought to herself.

"Red Leaf Studio wants to meet tonight?" In the villa, Candice furrowed her brows. "Wasn't it scheduled for Wednesday? Why the sudden change?"

"They said the boss has to go abroad for studies, so they had to reschedule," replied Ryan, holding his phone with a hint of helplessness. Since Red Leaf Studio's boss had collaborated with Burning Star Studio in the past, this meeting was easily agreed upon.

Candice nodded. "It's fine; I'll go there later."

"No problem. Mr. Warner is a nice person. Just follow the regular procedures," Ryan added.

Not paying much attention, he picked up his things and prepared to leave. "The boss and the others are still waiting for me; I'll go first."

Candice went back to her study, gathered some information from Red Leaf Studio, and left when it was time for the scheduled meeting. When she arrived, Hanley and the others hadn't returned yet.

The atmosphere at the meeting was a bit uncomfortable for Candice. Besides Warner, there were two or three people from other companies, including Xavier.

Apologizing, Warner explained, "Our overseas courses started earlier than expected, and we're in a hurry to go abroad. So, I had to call everyone together. Sorry for the inconvenience."

His attitude was good, and Candice couldn't say anything. The banquet was nice, and Warner was a smooth operator, effortlessly managing the atmosphere.

Just as the banquet was about to end, Candice suddenly felt a gaze constantly directed at her.

She subtly frowned, showing some displeasure. The next moment, she heard Xavier's gentle voice, "Candice, we've cooperated before, and we can be considered somewhat acquainted. Now, we both have collaborations with Mr. Warner's studio, and I think it's fate."

He raised his wine glass with a sincere expression. "I won't say anything too formal. I just feel it's a coincidence. Let's have a drink."

Candice looked at Xavier, her expression cold, about to refuse. However, he had already turned to Warner with a smile, "Mr. Warner, I have to blame you if Candice refuses my toast. After all, you were the one who instigated me."

Warner, who was also a bit tipsy, waved his hand, "Who asked you to claim that you two knew each other before?"

The eyes of everyone at the table instantly focused on Candice.

Looking at Xavier's glass, she hesitated for a moment, then slowly stood up and accepted it.

But as soon as the drink touched her lips, a strange sensation emerged.

There was a faint floral scent along the rim of the glass, almost fleeting.

Candice's heart sank, especially when she recalled Xavier's previous despicable tactics. Her expression stiffened momentarily. However, after a brief moment, she concealed her emotions.

Suppressing her inner turmoil, she lowered her eyelashes, shielding her emotions from the numerous people around. Luckily, by the end of the dinner, she didn't feel anything unusual in her body.

Yet, her vigilance remained high, prompting her to stand up as soon as the dinner concluded.

Before she could leave, however, the private room door swung open. Sonia, dressed in a pink and white professional suit, walked in with a smile, looking at Xavier, "Mr. Green, I'm here to take you back."

Seeing Candice, she seemed somewhat surprised, "Candice, why are you here too?"

Xavier was inside the room. For Sonia to pass, she had to circle around behind Candice.

Candice was about to stand up and leave, but suddenly, she felt a weakness in her legs, followed by a rising warmth in her lower abdomen.

Her entire body stiffened, and she looked at Xavier in disbelief. He was talking to Sonia, and upon sensing Candice's gaze, he even smiled in her direction.

The feeling of strength draining away hit suddenly, and Candice felt parched. She could perceive the changes in her body, and the worst part was that she didn't have enough strength to stand up.

She had to stabilize her emotions as much as possible. She reached for her phone and called Yana.

Yana, for some reason, didn't answer.

When she finally regained her senses, everyone in the private room had already left.

Candice finally dared to exhale, her body already sweating, and her throat dry and tight.

Thinking of calling Yana again, the room suddenly echoed with a voice filled with a smiling tone, "Candice, are you feeling unwell?"

Candice raised her head abruptly, realizing belatedly that Sonia hadn't left!

She almost instantly understood what had happened. She asked hoarsely, "What do you want?"

Sonia, who had lost some weight these days, looked a bit sharper. A hint of resentment flashed in her eyes. "What I want doesn't matter. What matters is what he wants to do to you."

Before Candice could speak, the door of the private room was pushed open again, and the person who entered made Candice's pupils slightly dilate.

Francis!

Seeing Candice's expression, Sonia finally had a triumphant look on her face. She hooked her lips, bent down to help Candice, and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear.

"Candice, you're destined to have a bad fate."
