Chapter 2136
Chapter 2136
Finally, she ended with the firm opinion that Yesseca couldn't have put poison inside the meat broth to harm Montez. She wasn't that kind of person. This need not be said by Preslie, even Montez could see it for himself. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
"I suspected that it was Qiana who did it. That woman looked like a b*tch at first glance," Preslie opined.
After a pause, she asked, "Mr. Perry, do you know what that means?"
Matthew took a look at Preslie, confusion in his eyes.
Preslie proceeded to explain its meaning.
Meanwhile, Matthew wasn't listening much at that point, his mind abuzz with other thoughts.
After her explanation, Preslie added, "But there are times that I think that she wasn't the culprit. After all, Qiana is Montez's biological mother. Isn't maternal love the noblest of them all? It's unlikely for her to hurt her own child, right?"
She thought that her parents were extraordinary enough, but if someone said that her parents poisoned her, even she would think that it was impossible for them to have done so.
A dim light flared up in Matthew's eyes.
He had the same line of thought as Preslie.
There should not be a mother who would plot against her own son in this world.
Also, as for whether the separation between Tremaine and Yesseca was because of this reason as Preslie had said, it still needed to be verified. After he turned the matter over in his mind for a long while, Matthew decided to make a trip to see Yesseca.
His purpose was very clear.
If Tremaine really had fallen in love with another woman, or if the two of them had reached a dead end in their relationship, then he would not meddle in their business. It might not be a bad choice to let Yesseca and Kyi in be together.
But if it was because of something else, especially because of what Preslie had said, then he had to verify it thoroughly.
Ruth went to the kindergarten that day to hand in her resignation.
Her abdomen had bulged out to the point that it could no longer be hidden.
At first, the principal was still reluctant to let her go. After all, Ruth was a good employee who was diligent in her work. It took half a day's worth of cajoling and pleading before Ruth was at her wits end and revealed her pregnancy.
It was only then that the principal approved her resignation letter.
"When the baby is born, if you are still willing to come back, you can do so at any time. The gate to our kindergarten is open for you at all times." Ruth smiled gratefully, "Thank you, Principal."
The principal returned her smile, "No need to thank me. I like employees who are as diligent as you. Once your child is born and you arrange for their full moon celebration, don't forget to invite me."
In Nashaland, newborn babies who have reached their first month cycle would celebrate this first milestone.
Ruth's expression changed when she heard that.
She lowered her head and spoke in a vague manner, "Principal, I'll be leaving now."
The moment she turned around, her heart felt as if it had been stabbed by something.
Full moon celebration?
There would be none for her child.
There wasn't even a father around. How could they hold a full moon celebration?
Ruth's hand fell onto her lower abdomen. She could clearly feel the fetus' movement inside.
A trace of doubt suddenly flashed across her eyes.
When she chose to keep the child, was it the right or wrong decision?
This thought was instantly thrown out the window.
Since she had decided to keep this child, there was no turning back!
Ruth returned to her apartment.
There were still a few months left before she gave birth to the baby. During this period of time, she wasn't planning to prepare for work. She even had some savings on hand, enough to support herself for the time being.
As for the future, she had only made tentative plans about it.
After she gave birth to the child, she could take care of them on her own.
She wasn't like those rich young ladies. She had been a servant since she was a child and had suffered through various hardships. To her, this was nothing difficult.
As the child would feed on milk in the beginning, she didn't need to spend as much in terms of food. This would continue until they were two years of age.
By then, her savings would almost
be dried up. She would then apply for work in a kindergarten, and at the same time register her child into the same one she would work in. That way she could earn a living as well as take care of her child.
She ran through her plans until her feet brought her back to her apartment.
It was then Ruth saw that someone was standing in front of her door.
A person that looked a little familiar.
Soon, Ruth remembered who it was.
Qiana.
Montez's mother.
Ruth was very surprised.
Why did Qiana come here?
When she saw her, Qiana smiled and said, "Hello, are you Ruth Welmart?"
Ruth nodded in confusion.
Qiana then continued gently, "I came here especially for you. My big brother told me many times that he misses you very much. Only it won't turn out well if he went out himself, hence I'm here to see you on his behalf."

After that, Qiana raised the bag in her hand, "These are the fruits I bought for you. Try it."
Ruth was even more confused.
Big brother?
Whose big brother?
As if she had understood Ruth's doubts, Qiana added, "It's Mr. Zorion."
Ruth suddenly understood but felt a little strange at the same time.
Since Qiana had already called him "big brother", how close was her relationship with Mr. Tremaine? It must be very good, she guessed?
A little while later, Ruth led Qiana into the apartment.
After all, Qiana had come to see her and brought up so many things. It was impossible for her to let Qiana stand outside.
Subsequently, she made her a cup of tea.
Qiana took it with much grace, "Thank you, Miss Welmart."
She blinked when she was spoken to so formally.
It was the first time that Ruth had been spoken to like this. She felt a little awkward.
"Just call me Ruth." She offered.
Qiana smiled and replied, "I feel like
we're old friends at first sight of each other, or more correctly, my own sister. If you're not used to it though, then I'll call you Ruth
Ruth remained silent.
While Qiana drank her tea, she studied Ruth from head to toe. Soon, she realized that something wasn't right.
Ruth's lower abdomen seemed a little huge.
Her figure was petite and frail, hence her lower abdomen should be flat.
On the other side, Ruth also noticed Qiana's gaze and a flash of alarm ran through her.
Earlier, she was so stunned by Qiana's arrival, that she forgot that not only was she currently pregnant, but her protruding abdomen clearly showcased her condition!
Ruth immediately turned around and tugged on the hem of her clothes. Luckily she wore an extra baggy top wide enough to cover her abdomen. After she pulled down the hem of her clothes hard, when she turned back around, the bump in her belly was hidden away.
But Qiana had already been made aware of Ruth's peculiarity.
With pretended nonchalance, she remarked, "Oh, Ruth, I didn't expect you to have a belly for someone so thin. I've always assumed that thin people
don't even have bellies."
Ruth was a little nervous and replied, "I eat a lot these days. All of that food can't go anywhere else but down."
"I see." Qiana put down the teacup. "Then you have to eat more of the fruits I brought. They can help with digestion."
Ruth gave a vague hum of agreement.
"Well, I have something to do and will be going out soon," Ruth replied.
This, in fact, was her subtle order for her to leave.
For not only was she afraid that Qiana would see through her pregnancy, she also did not like Qiana to linger any longer in her apartment.
