Skylar glanced at the time and agreed to Aiken’s proposal.
She didn’t have any other plans for the day anyway, so in the afternoon, she planned to visit Charles on set before dropping by to see Simona
Charles had been very busy lately, going from one project to another. He had a mix of TV shows, movies, variety shows and promotions for other dramas, keeping him occupied day and night.
It had been a rare break for him when he came to pick them up from the airport that day.
Skylar had recently heard him speak in their group chat and found that his voice seemed hoarse. It was likely due to the changing season and the fluctuating temperatures, which made people get sick easily.
Since she had been drinking tea for health reasons, Skylar thought it would be good for him and decided to bring some over.
But she didn’t actually get to see Charles.
When she arrived at the set, he was in the middle of shooting a scene that didn’t allow too many people on set–it was said that it was an intimate scene.
So, after dropping off the tea and some medicine with Charles‘ assistant, Skylar headed to a nearby mall.
There, she bought two bubble teas from a shop and picked up a pair of the latest headphones. Then, she drove to Parkinson Residence.
Simona had been at home catching up on schoolwork with the help of a few tutors, which kept her busy during the day.
With a heavy academic workload and little company at home since Aiken was often tied up with work, her emotional well–being was neglected a little.
Simona was so surprised to see Skylar that she exclaimed, “Skylar!”
It had been a while since they last met, and it looked like Simona had grown taller, but she was also thinner.
“Check out the sound quality of these headphones.” Skylar handed Simona the headphones.
Simona was thrilled. “They’re for me? I saw these headphones online and wanted to get them, but I’ve been too busy studying. This is perfect! You always know exactly what I like, Skylar!”
She thought how great it would be for Skylar to become her sister–in–law and a real part of her family. Her brother never seemed to understand what girls wanted.

Seeing Simona so happy, Skylar felt reassured. She had actually consulted Caleb for advice. He had made some suggestions since he knew a bit about Simona’s tastes.
They tested out the headphones together and listened to a few songs.
When it was time for dinner, Aiken came home.
He had been making an effort to join Simona for dinner each evening, so she wasn’t surprised
to see him.
“Aiken, Skylar gave me these headphones. I love them so much.”
Aiken glanced at Skylar, his gaze lingering subtly before he said, “Thank you.”
“As long as Simona likes them, that’s what matters,” Skylar said with a smile.
Tonight, the Parkinson family’s cook had prepared stew. The broth was homemade, and when Skylar arrived at the family residence in the afternoon, the delicious aroma had already filled
the house.
It was irresistible.
With all the dishes laid out with the stew, the meal looked incredibly appetizing.
“I know Skylar loves stew, so I asked them to make it,” Simona said.
Aiken nodded. “The stew is really good.”
Skylar knew that Aiken liked spicy food. Every time they had eaten together, he never shied away from it.
The three ate a lot, finishing nearly all the dozen side dishes prepared.
After dinner, Skylar took a half–hour walk with Simona. They chatted about some typical girly stuff.
On her way home, Aiken called to thank her.
Skylar replied with a smile on her face, “Simona’s like a little sister to me. There’s no need to be so formal.”
Aiken responded, “She was really happy today. Girls have a lot on their minds at her age, but it’s hard for her to talk to me about those things. After you came, she seemed different. She’s now singing and dancing happily in her room.” This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Then, Skylar said, “I’ll keep in touch with her often. If anything comes up, feel free to reach out to me directly.”
