Chapter 18

"See you tomorrow"? Vince asked.

I nodded and grabbed my backpack and got out of the truck.

I said "Yeah, Liz is coming over for dinner; so see you tomorrow".

"Ok, see you" They both said, and I ran up the driveway and to the front doors. I quickly unlocked it and

walked in then shutting the door behind me.

"I'm home"! I yelled, and dropped my backpack, but there was silence. I walked into the kitchen and

went to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water out and saw a note.

Hey Rain,

We went out to grab some things and finished up our classes. We decided not to make dinner and go

out since Dad has clients he's meeting anyways. Dress nicely and tell Liz too; meet you at Blue Gold.

I rolled my eyes and crumpled the piece of paper in my hand then throwing it in the garbage and texting

Liz on to dress nicely and where we were going.

"Show me that you're human, and you won't break"! I sang and danced around my room as I got ready

and my Gabrielle Aplin playlist played.

I walked up to my mirror and put in my silver dangling earrings and snapped them in and smoothed my

clothes out in the mirror.

I was in a white crop top, with a black high-low skirt and a denim jacket with my curled lightly; if I

dressed in 'nice jeans and a nice shirt' my dad would absolutely kill me.

I walked into my walk-in closet which was like another room, I scanned over the shelves and grabbed

my Converses then thinking about how my dad had clients and then I put my converses back and

grabbed a pair of black pumps.

I slipped my feet into them and stood up straight, then grabbing my phone and keys.

I walked out of the house and got into my truck, and drove out the driveway and headed to the

warehouse to pick up to Liz; since I said I'd pick her up so she didn't have to drive.

I pushed the red-door open of the warehouse and walked in. I heard noises upstairs, and it sounded

like Will and Peter chanting about something, and then I heard my name be yelled.

I walked up the old creaky metal stairs that were breaking. I walked to the main floor and stopped in

front of the door.

"OHHHHH! YOU SO LIKE HER RYKER! DON'T EVEN DENY IT"! Neil yelled then laughing.

I hid behind the corner of the door and listened carefully.

Ryker likes someone?

I felt a pang in my chest, and my heart felt as if it broke.

"No I don't" Ryker's voice scoffed.

"Ok, you mean to tell us. That you don't like her? The girl that actually sets you in place and isn't afraid

to stand up to you"? Peter's voice tested.

"Yes, because I don't"! Ryker's voice exclaimed with frustration.

"It's Rain for God sakes! You like her, and you know you do! You just don't want to admit because you

don't want us to tell her"! Reece exclaimed with a laugh.

Me!?

My breath hitched and I froze in my place.

"If you don't like her? Then why did you keep looking at her the whole time while she had gym? Don't

even acted like you weren't because I saw you. Your eyes were on her every second" Vince voice said

and I could even feel his smirk.

Ryker laughed without any humor "Really? She sure had a funny way of showing it...".

"She actually might; she was completely jealous in P.E." Vince said.

There all idiots...

"Ok you idiot! Ryker you know how I don't want you and Rain together; but even I can see she likes

you. Have you seen the way she acts around you?" Craig said.

Are you serious?! Even Craig thinks I do.

"She like's Blake"! Ryker's voice yelled.

I opened the door and laughed as I walked in "You think I like Blake? And Right when I thought you

weren't dumb, Ryker".

Their heads all whipped to look at me and Ryker's eyes widened and he shot up "How much did you

hear"?

"Hear, what"? I raised an eyebrow and smirked.

Liz and Leah giggled, and Liz was dressed up as well with her black skater dress and black heels with

make up and hair done.

I turned to Liz and said "We still have a few minutes..."

She nodded and I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle and unscrewed the cap and

took a sip, and plopped down on the couch next to Will.

"Well you look nice" Neil said.

I rolled my eyes "Don't remind me" I said and I slipped the heels off my feet, since my feet were killing

me just by walking in them.

"Rain!!!!!" A voice cheered and I looked and Melanie ran up to me, and jumped onto my lap and

hugged me tightly.

I chuckled "Hey Melanie" and hugged her.

"Well, what the hell"!? Ryker stared dumbstruck, and she giggled "Rain's nicer".

I smirked "Oh look at that, I'm prettier and nicer" I said to Ryker and he rolled his eyes in response, and

Faith walked in.

I stood up and put Melanie down and she walked over to Ryker, Faith smiled and hugged me "Hey, I

haven't seen you in awhile".

I pulled out of her hug and nodded "Yeah it's been awhile" and my phone vibrated and I saw it was a

text message.

My phone was then snatched out of my hand and Ryker stood with a smirk and my phone dangling in

his hand.

I glared at him "Give it back".

"Nah, I think I'll just-" Then I saw him guess my pass-code and open my text messages.

My eyes widened and I tried to grab it from him but he moved his arm fast.

"Ryker give it back!" I whined.

He started to read threw them, then a smirk grew on his face.

My eyes widened and my cheeks flushed red.

Who the hell knows what I have in there!?

"So....Blake was right you do have a Victori-" He started but I quickly put my hand over hos mouth and

his words muffled under my hand

He stepped back and smirked then continuing to read them.

"Ryker! Give me my fucking phone back!" I gritted and I chased him around the furniture as he read

threw them and ran.

"Ryker Anderson! Give me my phone, NOW"! I yelled and the smirk just grew bigger and he opened his

mouth to say something, but I jumped on his back and tried to grab my phone.

"You know, these are very interesting; I'd hate for them to get forwarded to your dad" He smirked, and

my eyes widened and jumped off his back.

"Alright Ryker! That's enough, give her; her phone back" Leah said.

"Wait; let me just said these" He said as he concentrated typing on my phone.

"I swear to God, Ryker" I gritted and he looked up from my phone and we were so close I felt his

peppermint breath on me.

"You swear to God, what"? He tested and raised an eyebrow, and I blinked slowly as are chest were

pressed together and there was no distance between us.

"I-I-I..." I stuttered not being able to get over how close he was to me and how his touch made my heart

race.

He leaned closer, and put his lips to my ear and whispered "Here's the thing Rain; you don't know what

game you're playing, and you don't know how to play it"

He's so Bipolar!

"I didn't realize we were playing a game" I whispered to myself and blinked a few times slowly, trying to

take in what he said.

He put his index finger under my chin and titled it up and smirked "Oh, but I think you did" and he took

my hand and set it out and placed my phone in it.

My breath hitched at how his fingertips delicately touched my wrist, and electricity shot threw me, as

my heart panged in my chest yet slammed into my rib-cage.

Then he pecked my lips and smirked, taking a step-back and leaving me there dumbfounded.

This was all a game to him?! That's why Craig warned me, he knew it was!

I glared at Ryker and grabbed his shirt in my hand and crunched it up in my hand and my eyes went

dark.

"Listen here, Anderson" I gritted "I'm not one of your toys and I'm not going to be. So put yourself in

fucking line, before you pull something like that again".

His eyes bored into mine and I wanted to hit him; more then anything right now.

I stepped back and turned to Liz "Come on, let's go".

We came to the restaurant, and I parked letting out a sigh.

"Alright" I said turning to Liz "My dad has a few clients; but you know which fork to use and

everything"?

She chuckled "Yes Rain".

I nodded "Okay, well my dad's a bit....just ignore his comments", and I started to become anxious about

how this could all go wrong.

"It'll be fine Rain" She said "But before we go, you want to talk about what happened between Ryker

and you"?

I rolled my eyes "I don't want to talk anything about that jackass".

"Rain, I know his words hit you hard and don't even try to deny it. I was there; I know how it feels, and it

sucked" She sighed.

I raised an eyebrow and gave a confused look.

"Here goes nothing" She sighed blowing out air then turning and looking at me "When I was your age;

in senior year, I was in the gang and everything was great. I met this guy....and he seemed so sweet

and nice and he was exactly like Ryker. He was funny and I found myself starting to like him, and I then

found myself in a month; as absurd as it, I started to fall in love with him".

"Liz" I gave her an Are-You-Serious look "You can't fall in love with someone in a month".

She laughed without humor "Thats what I thought to...until we became really good friends; then it was

against gang rules to date within the gang and I had to get over him...and truth is I'm still not over him".

I stared at her dumbstruck, and she got out and I quickly got out and walked up to her on the sidewalk.

"Liz" I stopped her "Are you talking about Peter"?!

She bit her lip and nodded slightly "Yeah, it's Peter".

I stared dumbstruck "O my God" I muttered "Craig, really stopped you two from being together"?

She nodded "Yes Rain, and he will do the same to you and Ryker, so I'm warning you that'll it'll come,

and it'll come soon".

"I'm going to kill Craig" I muttered as I walked back to my truck and she grabbed my wrist and pulled

me back "How about you do that after dinner"?

I rolled my eyes and we walked in, and came to the front desk and I said "We're part of the Thompson

table".

The waitress nodded and led us threw the restaurant.

My dad stood up and smiled "Rain" and hugged me "You look pretty tonight, dressed more like a lady,

you should try it more often".

I rolled my eyes behind his back and pulled away.

My dad turned to Liz and he put his hand out to her and introduced "Sheriff Thompson", and she smiled

"It's nice to meet you Sheriff Thompson, I'm Elizabeth Doyle".

"Yes, Liz...I've heard a lot about you" He offered a small laugh "Please, take a seat ladies".

I walked to the other side of the table and taking a seat.

"Guys this is Liz; Liz this is Jax, Ryan, and Joel" I introduced pointing to each one of them.

"Nice to meet you" My brothers all said and they echoed each other by saying it one after another in a

pattern.

"Sorry I'm late" Alex's voice said and she came up.

I stood up and grinned and pulled her into a tight hug "Alex! I didn't know you were coming".

She chuckled and pulled away and smiled "Well Joel invited me".

I nodded and she took a seat next to Joel then I had to go threw the process of introducing Liz and

Alex.

My phone buzzed and everyone was talking, and Alex and Liz seemed to hit off pretty quickly; they

seemed to be a lot alike and have the same interest.

I bit my lip and took my phone out and hid it in my lap so no one could see.

Ryker: Princess, I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that.

Me: Oh then how did you mean to say it?

Ryker: Rain...I didn't want to hurt you...I swear! Please Princess, forgive me?

Me: Hmm...let me think about it? No.

Ryker: Damn it, Rain! I'm trying to apologize here and you're making this harder then it's suppose to

be!

Me: I'm busy right now, I don't have time to forgive you.

Ryker: For Christ Sake's Rain!

Me: Leave me alone, Ryker.

Ryker: Never, princess ;)

I ignored the last text, and refused to respond. Liz was looking over my shoulder and smirked

"See...he's making an effort...I don't even know the last time he's every apologized to someone".

I rolled my eyes and Alex asked "Who's this 'he'?" as she put her elbows on the table and leaned

forward with an intrigued look.

"Ryker Anderson" Liz said and took a sip of her drink.

Alex's eyes widened "You know him"!?

"She doesn't know"!? Liz whispered yelled.

I glared at her and shook my head "No! I was afraid she'd tell my brothers or dad".

"Tell me what"? She asked curiously and raised an eyebrow.

"Rain's part of the gang of the Crusaders and so am I, and her and Ryker have some....sexual tension

going on" Liz smirked at the last part and I smacked her arm.

"You're part of a gang"!? She whispered yelled.

"Alex!" I hissed and nodded towards my brothers and dad that were engrossed in a conversation, to

even be paying attention "I'll explain later".

My phone started to ring and I quickly looked to see Ryker.

My dad's head snapped towards me and I declined the call quickly so the ringing would stop; but my

brothers were watching by now too.

"Who was that"? My dad asked.

"Nobody" I blurted; to fast and I now sounded suspicious.

He gave me a suspicious look and said "Rain, phone now" as he put his hand out.

"No dad, it was a wrong number; nothing's wrong" I lied.

He sent me a look and I sighed and handed him my phone, then he took it and started to open it up

and click on my text messages.

"Dad"! I said "That's private"!

I saw the reflection in the mirror behind him as he clicked on the messages from Ryker, and my eyes

widened and I bit my lip; as I sent Liz an Uh-Oh look.

He scrolled threw the text messages that consisted of Ryker calling me 'Princess' or 'Babe'; and when

you just look at it without knowing he was joking around; the text messaged sounded as if we were

dating...

My dad's eyes went dark and he looked up at me and clenched his jaw "Outside, now!"

"Dad let me explain-" I started but he grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of the restaurant, and my

brothers, Liz, and Alex all followed.

Once we came outside he screamed "Are you fucking talking to Ryker Anderson"!?

I bit my lip and started "Dad it's not what-".

"Don't fucking talk back to me" He gritted in my face and I gulped silently as he was in my face and

there was no personal space boundaries.

"He's a worthless piece of shit in this world" He spit in my face.

I gritted "Don't talk about him like that!"

Why am I even standing up for him? Ryker was just being an ass..

"Oh, so you two are probably dating for all I know; and what these text messages say you are"! He

screamed in my face.

"I'm not"! I yelled.

"Stay the fuck away from him! I don't want you ever talking to him again! That's it Rain, you're turning

out just like your fucking mother and becoming a bitch! You're grounded and are on lock-down! And get

one thing straight, and get it now! You are never seeing Ryker Anderson again"! He yelled.

"That's not your decision whether I see him or not" I said stern.

He clenched his jaw and clutched his fist as his eyes were dark.

He raised an hand and slapped me hard; full-speed across the face, my brothers immediately took

alarm and tried pushing my dad back but he threw me up against a wall and started to yell.

He punched me right in the face and my brothers tried to push him back as so did Alex and Liz.

He grabbed a glass decorative bottle that was by the restaurant and smashed it over my head, as my

brothers started to scream at him.

Liz and Alex came over and helped me up as I was dizzy and all beaten up with cuts and I was

bleeding everywhere the glass cut me.

They helped me into the passenger seat of the truck and Liz got in the driver side as she told Alex "I'm

going to take her to the warehouse to the gang and they'll take care of her".

"Liz" I mumbled "I'm going to pass-out" I said dizzy and my vision was blurry.

"Rain, no. Don't go to sleep, we're here now they guys will help you" She instructed.

Ryker Anderson

We all raced out of the warehouse and to outside, and Liz waved us over.

"Ryker get Rain!" Craig instructed and I ran over to the passenger seat, and opened the door to see

her.

I froze for a second to see how she had cuts everywhere and was bleeding and had a black eye.

How could her own father do this to her?!

I unbuckled her gently and picked her up bridal style and she rested her head on my chest and

wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Go! Go! Go!" I yelled as we all ran inside and I carried her upstairs, into the main room.

Melanie gasped and so did Faith; as Melanie started to cry and Faith picked her up and held her. I sat

Rain down on the couch and she said weakly "I'm going to pass-out, Ryker".

"I know princess" I said softly and kissed her forehead and said against her forehead "Just hold on,

alright"?

She nodded slightly and everyone rushed around and tried to get first-aid materials. We would take her

to the hospital but then she get reported for abuse and be put into foster care; since she's still in High

School, I know how that goes..

I looked at her and her arms were even bleeding.

I sighed "Rain I have to underss you".

"No"! She cried.

"Rain you may have shards of glass in your back, it's just me" I said softly.

Everyone continued to rush around.

I sat on the couch and pulled her into my lap, and I took off her jacket then her top and I went to the top

of her skirt and she stopped my hands.

I rested my chin on her shoulder and kissed her cheek "I'm not going to do anything, beautiful".

She bit her lip and let go of my hand. I pulled her skirt down and she had tears stream down her cheek.

She did have cuts on her back though.

She buried her head into the crook of my neck and I wrapped my arms around her half naked body;

since she was in only in a bra and underwear.

Faith walked up and I said "Tell Vince to get a wet cloth".

She nodded then running into the kitchen.

Rain let out a whimper and I felt horrible that this even happened to her.

"Babe, I'm sorry your dad, did this to you" I said and rubbed circles on her back.

Vince came out and I saw worry yet a I-Knew-It look appear on his face.

"Not the time" I warned and glared at him.

"Rain, sit up" I said gently and she did.

I took the cloth and started to wipe the blood off her.

Her blue eyes were filled with tears and bored into mine, the she looked down.

Everyone came out with all sorts of materials and then froze when they saw Rain...sitting in my lap....

basically clinging on to me for dear life....
