Hardin pulled away from Alexa after a few seconds of their lips locking. He cupped her face in his hands while his eyes never left hers for a second.

Her face was expressionless and he noticed that she didn’t reciprocate to his advances. Or furthermore, she wasn’t interested in him like he was in her.

The thought of that shattered his heart into a million tiny pieces. Maybe this had something to do with the huge gap in their status.

But at this point, nothing mattered to him any longer except the lady standing close to him. Whether she accepted him or not, he had decided to pour out his feelings. She hadn’t said a word neither had she blinked or make the slightest of movement.

Perhaps, she was still in a state of shock, which was very true. Although this wasn’t the first time Hardin had kissed her, but this kiss which lasted for a few seconds felt entirely different.

Her heart thumped wildly wondering why he did that. Different questions and assumptions filled her mind leaving her with a shocked expression..

Meanwhile, Alexa’s heart skipped a beat. What the hell was he hiding from her afraid that she might found out? did he murder someone?. Those were the questions occupying her naive mind at that moment.

The more seconds that ticked by, the more her anticipation grew.

“The day I walked in through your door and laid my eyes on you, that was the beginning of something new and different from what I’ve felt in the past. I was hesitant to admit to myself that what I felt at that moment was love at first sight. That was the reason I kept on being mean to you, but sadly my feelings didn’t change. He paused for a while staring at her but her reaction gave him no hope that she was feeling the same. He knew that she was following behind his words, so he decided to continue.

Alexa pulled him down a little by his collar and claimed his lips.

Hardin was speechless at first but after the kiss she initiated lasted a few more seconds, he was taken out of his reverie and he reciprocated.

She pulled away with a faint blush rising on her chin.

“Why didn’t you say so from the start? do you know how many nights I had cried to sleep thinking of the naughty things going on behind your closed door with Clarissa around?”

Hardin wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to himself in a deep soothing embrace.

He sighed in relief. She had same feelings for him too and that was all that mattered well except that, he had to face the well known heir of the Sterling’s.. Damien Sterling.

That name sounded like a ticking time bomb to him.

Damien and the other two in the living room stared worriedly at the bathroom’s door. He got here a few minutes ago to pick Olivia up for work but she suddenly rushed out and left them startled.

They heard the sounds of the running water and Olivia’s small coughs and groans coming from inside the bathroom.

“Honey are you okay in there?”

The bathroom suddenly fell quiet and few seconds later, the door clicked open to reveal a tired looking Olivia.

“I’m good. I-

“You don’t look good Olivia, your eyes are weak and your skin looks so pale.. Come here honey do you have a fever?” Sandy worriedly asked placing a palm over Olivia’s forehead.

Damien reached out to Olivia’s right hand and he led her to the couch and guided her to sit on it.

“I think it’s time we need to visit the hospital. The servants told me everything that happened yesterday”

Olivia pouted in defeat, she snapped her head to her mum with an annoyed expression. Her mum had managed to get into Damien’s head.

“Fine! I’ll go. But I’ll be the one laughing at you all when the doctor says I’m fine” She mocked in sarcasm.

“We will get going and if any matter arises, you’ll be the first to know” Damien said to Sandy who gave him a firm nod.

The once upon lively living room of the Brown’s was pin drop silent. On one of the couches sat Tracy who looked so lost in her thoughts.

By her side sat half a bottle of whiskey, The glass she held on her hand moved in sync with her wrist rotating gently.

In the last couple of days, some dramas had happened in the family which had left every one of the Brown’s in a state of shock.

Their image had been tainted. Everyone in the city knew about her daughter’s crazy attempt to kill Olivia and her son.

Her teeth gnashed in anger, Anita was currently enjoying her life with Aldrin. The man that should have been hers from the start. Her poor daughter Rihanna was currently being treated harshly behind bars.

It appeared to her that whatever she wanted or loved was always snatched away by Anita.

The footsteps descending down the stairs brought her out of her reverie, she took a glance at the spiral stairs leading all the way to the living room.

A frown settled on her forehead, she placed her glass on the side table before she stood up to her feet.

Her eyes were drawn to the luggages Bruce was pulling out along with him.

Was he leaving?

“Bruce!”

Bruce halted his movement when he heard his name, he took a long glance at her and sighed deeply.

“Is there a problem?” He questioned in hostility. If there was anyone to blame for all his misfortunes, then it would be none other than her.

If she had spent as much time with their children that she spends competing with Anita, maybe they wouldn’t have turned out to be so vicious and heartless..

“Are you trying to ditch the kids and I?!”

Bruce faced the opposite direction ignoring her interrogative stares which fell at the side of his face.

“I’m talking to you Bruce!-

“Yes! yes! yes! I’m trying to ditch you! I’m just fed up with everything going on. And the only solution I can think of is to leave L. A as soon as possible. You can stay back if you wish-

Tracy’s lips parted in disbelief.

“What? have you gone crazy? how can you possibly be thinking about ditching the kids and I?! Asher is still at the hospital and Rihanna is behind-

“There’s nothing else we can do! Have you forgotten what the doctor said? Asher has no hope of waking up and Rihanna won’t be getting out of jail soon! what else do you want me to do?” Bruce barked furiously at Tracy.
