Clarissa’s brows furrowed worriedly when she noticed the foul look on Hardin’s face at the moment, she had been studying his face ever since he left for the counter to get her order..

She also noticed that he was staring at one particular direction and when she followed his line of sight, her jaw tightened.

“One cute portion of the smiling moon” the young man who suddenly appeared before her murmured placing the red and white cake on the table..

Clarissa’s attention was drawn to him, she flashed him a small smile, he returned it with a wide grin, afterwards he gave her a small bow and left..

As soon as he was gone, her smile vanished completely, she casted a look on the small cake with hate as she suddenly lost her appetite..

Alexa scanned the menu with so much interest, every dessert on it looked yummy and a part of her greedy self wanted everything..

“Can’t I just have them all? they look so good”

Chris chuckled taking a peek at his wrist watch, they had only thirty minutes to have something sweet before they return back to the company..

“Goodness Alexa.. just pick one, the company isn’t far from here, we can always come back for another treat”

Alexa sighed and pointed to one of the cakes in the menu..

“I’ll take this”

At the other end, Hardin tried so hard to control his rising temper, but he couldn’t, he pulled his apron off and walked around the counter to get to the exit..

To his amazement, Clarissa was already blocking his path, she touched her belly acting in pain..

“Hardin.. I don’t feel too good” She gasped as she spoke.

Hardin’s worried eyes fell on her, his earlier thought of going to Alexa’s table was melted away like ice..

“What is wrong?”

His question was left unanswered because the next second, she fell unconscious and fell forward into his arms.

Hardin was quick to hold her from falling. “Clarissa!”

On hearing the familiar name and voice, Alexa’s eyes scanned the room until it fell on the pair who were getting attention from the others in the shop..

She sprang up to her feet only to be held back by Chris..

“Alexa you know we have to get back to the office soon”

Alexa glanced around the hallways until her eyes fell on the figure conversing over the phone, from his blank looks, she couldn’t tell if everything was alright or not..

She clutched onto her purse tightly making her way to him in slow but firm steps, as soon as she was standing behind him, she cleared her throat to get his attention..

Hardin’s back stiffened before he turned around to find the last person he had expected to see behind him..

Even if none of these concerns Alexa in anyway, she just couldn’t stay back knowing fully well that Hardin was in distress..

“Hi. Uh I just stopped by to see if everything was alright”

Hardin tucked his phone into his pocket taking his eyes off her, he managed to offer her a nod in response..

An awkward silence persisted between them, Until Alexa decided to speak..

“Is the baby fine?” She inquired in an almost breaking voice, she had decided to face the harsh truth. Hardin was now bonded to Clarissa by a child.

However, Hardin had a deep frown etched on his perfect brows, he hesitated to speak for a few seconds which Alexa mistook as something else.

She thought that he was scared about her knowing the truth..

“What baby?” he finally found his voice and he asked the obvious question.

Was there something that he didn’t know of?

Alexa shook her head slowly at him, he had resulted into lying just so she wouldn’t get a bad impression of him.

“You are no different from the other guys who would lie so casually like it’s a normal thing, how much more lies will you tell Hardin?”

Hardin only got more and more confused by her words, he tried to merge how Clarissa’s passing out led to him being questioned about a baby.

“What are you trying to say? I really don’t get what you mean”

“You mean you don’t know that your GIRLFRIEND Clarissa is pregnant with your child? Are you going to deny that?”

A more deeper frown settled on Hardin’s brows, he felt like he was gradually getting sucked up in a black hole where nothing made sense to him at all..

“Clarissa isn’t my girlfriend neither is she pregnant with my child!” He defended.

The door to the ward opened and a middle aged man on white stepped out..

“Doctor! how is she?”

The doctor smiled patting Hardin’s shoulder gently..

“Your wife and child are in good condition, you can see them now”

Hardin’s face froze as the doctor’s words played over and over again in his head. He heard Alexa’s mocking chuckle next..

“What other lie are you going to say now Hardin? you know what? just forget that I was here.. I’ll get going now”

“Alexa-

She turned around and started walking away. Once she was out of the hospital, she got into the car waiting for her..

Her sobs and cries filled the car causing a crease line on Chris’s forehead..

“Are you alright?”

Alexa sniffed and wiped her face with the back of her palm, she wore her seatbelt and gave a nod.

“Yeah I’m good.. let’s get going now”

Damien took a glance at his wrist watch, it’s been almost a hour since Olivia had left to take a shower and she wasn’t down yet..

He left the dining where he was having his breakfast and made his way back to his room, as soon as he stepped in, he scanned the room with his eyes until it fell on the figure fast asleep on the bed..

His eyes widened in disbelief, what in the world? he shook his head slowly and approached the bed where she lay fast asleep..

Damien placed a palm on her forehead and sighed in relief. She wasn’t running temperatures, probably tired after last night..

“Sleep tight. I’ll get the cooks to make you something to replenish your energy” he whispered next to her ears..

He planted a kiss on her forehead and went out of the room.

Few minutes after Damien had left. Olivia stirred on the bed pulling the duvet closer to herself, she suddenly sat up feeling something shift in her tummy..

With a hand placed against her forehead she mouthed a few words to herself..

“I don’t feel so-

She stepped out of the bed and rushed into the bathroom..

Anita raised her head to stare at Aldrin who was standing behind her, she smiled at his reflection through the mirror but sadly, he didn’t return it..

“What are you thinking about?” she asked putting on her earrings..

Anita’s smile froze at the reply she got, she suddenly jerked up to her feet and turned to Aldrin who remained motionless as if he already knew what her reaction would be like..

“What? okay I know where this is going! you want to divorce me so that you can live happily with her.. it’s fine! just hand me the papers”

He led her to the bed where he made her sit, her arms were crossed over her chest and her face looked slightly annoyed..

“Come on Anita, I’m serious, she had been on mind lately after-

Anita pulled her hand out of his sobbing gently “I knew it! you don’t love me anymore-

Aldrin placed a palm over her mouth to hush her up, this was what he got for falling for a woman like herself..

“Aldrin, the doctor called earlier. He said I need to come over to check my injury”

Aldrin’s face fell at her words, he just didn’t appreciate it when the said male doctor helps Anita dress the bullet injury on her chest..

“Can’t we just get a female doctor for you? that male doctor stares and touches you in a way which I don’t like at all” Aldrin complained bitterly..
