Chapter 98
Chapter 98
Before Cynthia could answer Old Man Neal, he continued, “I’ll miss you very much.”
“In the future, you can come to Nexuria and visit me, or you can call me,” Cynthia comforted.
“Can you not divorce Joshua?” Old Man Neal’s voice was heavy, and he seemed to have aged several years. “As long as you don’t leave, I promise he will treat you well. I’ll also take care of that Jayleen.” NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
“Grandpa,” Joshua spoke discontentedly.
Old Man Neal scolded him harshly, “Shut up!”
What a useless guy! He could not even keep his own wife.
“Grandpa, a forced marriage is not a happy one. I don’t like him anymore, and it’s better for everyone if we divorce.” Cynthia no longer had any feelings for Joshua.
“Exactly,” Moses chimed in, his gaze shifting toward Joshua. “Forcing Cynthia to be with someone she doesn’t love, isn’t that unfair to her?”
Old Man Neal glared at Moses.
What nonsense was he spouting?!
Joshua’s eyes were also dark, and he looked at Moses with a terrifying aura.
“Cynthia, would you like to go out and have some fun with me later?” Moses hinted at Cynthia, helping her out of the situation. “I have a few friends I can introduce you to, and after the divorce, you still need to develop your career.”
“Okay,” Cynthia agreed.
Joshua was infuriated by this.
Okay?
Did this woman even know what kind of people Moses, the little rascal, was introducing her to?
“Grandpa, I’ll take Cynthia out first.” Moses winked at Old Man Neal. “You and Joshua can continue to eat.”
“Okay.” Old Man Neal nodded.
Joshua was at a loss for words, frowning.
He felt strange about tonight’s events. Joshua could not imagine Old Man Neal just standing by and watching as Moses took Cynthia away, especially at a time when he and Cynthia were going through a divorce.
“Does it bother you?” Old Man Neal suddenly spoke up.
“What?” Joshua was caught off guard.
“Seeing Cynthia taken away by someone else. Does it bother you? Your cooling–off period ends next Wednesday, and the divorce will take place. Then, someone else will be the one to remind her to wear a jacket, to offer her warmth and support.” Old Man Neal was serious this time as he spoke from his heart.
Old Man Neal continued, looking up at Joshua, “You’ll become just a passing figure in her life. If you hear all this and feel no emotion, go ahead with the divorce. But if you feel even the slightest discomfort, I hope you’ll fight for her.”
“There’s no need for that.” Joshua suppressed his emotions. Since he had decided to divorce, he should stick to that path. Even if he felt uncomfortable and did not want any other man near Cynthia, it was just possessiveness after being together for so long.
It did not mean anything.
Besides, since he had promised Jayleen a future, he could not let her down.
“Joshua!” Old Man Neal felt like he could not get through to Joshua.
“I know my feelings for Cynthia better than anyone. The decision to divorce was made after careful consideration. I’m an adult, and I know what I’m doing,” Joshua said determinedly.
“Fine then!” Old Man Neal was getting angry again. “Don’t come crying to me for help later.”
Joshua remained silent.
“If you dare to marry Jayleen, get out of the Neal family.” Old Man Neal glared at him.
“Grandpa, she’s a good girl. Please don’t have too much of an opinion about her,” Joshua spoke.
“A good girl? A good girl would not destroy someone else’s marriage. She wouldn’t be so intimate with you after discovering you’re married. She wouldn’t make you divorce Cynthia for her! Can’t you have some common sense?” Old Man Neal felt like Joshua’s morality had been shattered.
