Chapter 6 Table Manners
Todd and Kylie had gotten married too, but when they were leaving civil services, the supposedly happy couple had started arguing.
Kylie snapped, “You’re jealous seeing her get married to someone else, aren’t you?”
“Don’t make things up,” Todd huffed. Kylie was half right. The part he couldn’t bear was that the man Blanca was marrying was a hundred times more capable than he was.
Kylie pushed on. “Ever since you saw her, you’ve been unfocused and off. You still have feeling for her, don’t you!”
Todd avoided her eyes and took her hand, keeping his voice pleasant. “If I still felt anything for her, why would I marry you? Don’t overthink it and stress the baby out.”
Kylie knew that every time Todd lied to her, he avoided her eyes.
And ever since Todd broke up with Blanca and started officially going out with Kylie, she’d felt that Todd regretted it, even calling Blanca’s name in his sleep. If it hadn’t been for the fact that Kylie was with child, Todd might have just gone back and tried to get back together with Blanca.
Considering that, Kylie was furious.
What was so good about that Blanca and Todd just could not forget about her, and now she even got a man like Matthew Grant smitten with her!
Kylie couldn’t take that lying down and decided to retaliate. She wasn’t going to let that woman off easy.
It was already eleven or so in the morning, and Blanca rubbed her growling stomach, turning to the glacier of a man that was young master Grant. “Before the press conference, could I have something to eat? It’d be embarrassing for you if I just faint in the conference.”
Matthew looked her up and down and said coldly. “Don’t be so mouthy on the press conference.”NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
Blanca winced, then nodded. “Hunger makes me mouth off. I’ll say less when I’m full.”
Matthew shook his head impatiently, but still turned around and headed for a restaurant.
He’d been planning on taking her to a private workshop to try on clothes for the press conference in the afternoon, and then they could go out to lunch, but she was messing up his plans.
It was a restaurant with three Michelin Stars, and the most expensive, luxurious restaurant Blanca had ever been in her life.
Blanca flipped through the menu and prodded Matthew twice if she really could just order anything.
Matthew nodded and gave her permission and only then did she loosen up.
Knowing that she’d been misdiagnosed, she felt like she’d received a new lease on life. Now that she’d taught a certain trash couple a lesson back there, her appetite was great, and she almost wanted to order some takeout and go directly back home.
As Matthew and the waiters looked on in shock, Blanca ate a meal for three all by her lonesome.
Compared to Matthew the elegant gentleman, her table manners were a sight to see.
“You look thin. I didn’t think you’d have an appetite like this.”
Matthew set down his knife and fork, dapping at the corner of his mouth with a napkin.
Blanca could hear that he was mocking her, but she didn’t mind. She licked the grease off her lips and waved a chicken wing in her hands. “I grew up starving and ate every meal as my last. A high and mighty young master like you wouldn’t get it.”
Matthew’s face sank slightly, and Blanca smiled, changing the subject. “Having treated me to this much, don’t worry. When the press conference comes, I won’t say a word, and I’ll be a good wife.”
“That had better be the case.” Matthew glared at her.
Blanca made an OK gesture, then started gnawing at the chicken wing like a hyena.
Looking at the messy way she was eating, Matthew’s cold lips slowly curved up into a slight smile.
Even when she grew up, eating was a test of etiquette for him from his father. He couldn’t enjoy food at all, and it had become habit. He’d never had any particular requests with his food. If he could finish it elegantly and fill his belly, it was good.
Now that Blanca was eating so happily, his originally low appetite perked up. For the first time, he felt like a meal could also be something enjoyable.
