Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 152

"If we're not getting a divorce, what about Margot? How are you going to explain things to her?"

She hadn't planned on mentioning Margot. No matter how indifferent she acted around Margot, those words still cut deep. In a love triangle, the one who was not loved was always the outsider.

Selena's pride and dignity wouldn't let her beg and cry to Everett like some heartbroken woman. Their failed marriage had already been humiliating enough, so if they were going to split, she wanted to do it with her head held high. No one would laugh at her anymore!

It took her three years to realize Everett didn't love her. After all that struggle and heartache, she finally decided to let him go, to let herself go. And what did he just say?

He didn't want tot divorce. They could have kids if she wanted.

Selena found it all absurdly laughable. She couldn't keep up her facade any longer; her expression turned pale.

She sat up, meeting Everett's gaze. She even grabbed his shirt, glaring at him as she spoke. "Or do you plan to keep one woman at home and another on the side?"

She let out a mocking laugh. "Everett, let me tell you, I was naive and foolish before. I let you fool around and always blamed myself. But not anymore. I refuse to share my husband with another woman. I'm not gonna wait for a man, whose heart isn't with me, to come home!"

With that, she pushed him away, not sparing him another glance. She reached for the phone on the nightstand, intending to ask the concierge to buy her clothes and contraceptives.

Everett caught her wrist, pulling her

back. His dark eyes revealed nothing as he stared at her for several

moments before finally speaking

"Selena, me and Margot's

relationship is not what you think. I'm not going to marry her. She can't threaten you."

He spoke slowly, each word carefully measured. This explanation was what Selena had longed to hear from Everett. Since she learned about Margot, she'd been waiting for her husband to explain. Good or bad, she wanted clarity.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

But for three years, he said nothing, enjoying their marriage while letting rumors about him and Margot fly. He watched her become a laughingstock, a cautionary tale among society ladies.

She was the wife overshadowed by a mistress, and the cruelest part was that he stopped Selena from getting pregnant while letting his mistress carry his child.

The hurt had etched itself into her bones. Now, with this explanation, she felt not only ridiculous but also pitiful.

Selena slowly shook her head. She might've believed he didn't send her to another man, but she couldn't blindly trust his words about Margot. She knew words spoken in bed were as unreliable as promises in the wind.

"Everett, you have to give me a real explanation, or I'm not taking back my decision to divorce. This is no time for us to be thinking about kids!"

Ignoring the darkness in his

expression, she extended her hand

mockingly "After every time we slept together, you made sure I took contraceptives. You were afraid I might get pregnant, and you'd be stuck with me."

Then, her tone turned sharp and decisive. "Stop dragging your feet. Get the contraceptives brought over, now. Immediately!"
